Tinnitus louder and more reactive now. :grumpy: Hopefully this spike will subside. Next time I'll remember to bring the earplugs I guess. :dunno:
Kinda regret going to a certain social gathering on christmas without earplugs, now my ears are killing me :(

well I guess it's ok. I'll try to be more careful next time. Now I at least know that less noise also spikes me...
i am in a desperate situation myself can you please tell me the kind of medicins that she took??
greetings from the Netherlands
I
I have no experience for this drug.

For sleep I would say melatonin 1-2mg is the least harmful and can be bought anywhere in NL. I am on nortryptiline for different reasons and I find it manageable. Everyone reacts different to each medicine. There is a big chance your tinnitus will stay as it is.
how do you deal with the fact you caused your tinnitus by taking medication im same with u i also have reactive t and nox
Varda
Yours was steroids right? That seems weird because steroid injections seems to be a treatment for hearing damage.
delta784
yes @Varda its methylprednisolone i am unlucky what i can tell i used that to treat my mild hyperacusis and ttts i got scared ent suggested to use from my arm i think that what caused the issue. I still believe if i took pill version that wasn't gonna affect my brain and ears that much %100
Hey - happy holidays to you and your family. Same thing happened to me yesterday. This disorder is insane. I am mostly isolated. Every time I do anything there is a price. Keep well my friend.
Merry Xmas everyone. Second half of 24's been a bit rough my side. Ears ain't getting better and that's where it's at. But somehow, I keep chiselling on through. If I can do it so can you. Big chin up for '25 to all my tinni pals :beeranimation:
Had lots of trouble sleeping last night. Both ears were making noises, idk if it was louder than normal or just more bothersome. Had to take melatonin and a Benadryl to sleep around 1:30 am. So tired this am. Merry Christmas Eve.
Still having headaches. I think my T switches sides depending on how I lay my head at night? Idk. Wake up to a headache every morning. Yesterday was a relatively normal T day, mostly in my right ear. This morning the left is hissing more. Praying it stays quiet and doesn't ruin Christmas break with the kids
I just wanna hide in my bed for 1 year. Im going thru a really though spike. Meet someone when i was in the garage so i took out the earplug in one ear to talk to her. Then from NOWHERE a dog comes like 6 meters away 10 seconds after i removed my earplug and barks like a god damn maniac. I just stood there for 10 seconds baffled and frozen in respons before i put my finger in my ear.

I hope it can still subside.
That's unfortunate that a dog came so unexpectedly barking like that, it's annoying when unexpected loud noises happen like that and you can't do anything about it :(
Wishing you the best for the recovery of this setback.
The only way to cope with T is to get your mind of it. But this is getting extremely difficult when your T it has become physical pain, with symptoms like burning ears, facial/skull sensations and migraines. Because I don't want to take painkillers every day I found ginger shots help me coping with the migraines.
Saw some of your posts, how's your T now? Got mine from Wellbutrin also.

Hey, thanks for reaching out! For me, it really depends on how emotionally relaxed or focused I am on something that excites me. When I'm in a good headspace, my tinnitus stays at a manageable 3-4/10, more of a mild annoyance. But if I'm stressed or distracted, it can spike to 8-9/10. It's all about where my energy and attention are at the time.
Last night was one of the worst. The craziest noises to date. Like a firework show of tinnitus in my ears.

Today has been pretty normal. Hoping and praying it stays this way or better yet gets better and goes away soon.
5.5 months in. Still no sleep, no focus and suicidal ideation. Just because of morons who cranked speakers where even with hearing protection, it was not enough. I can't deal with this much longer I feel.
My tinnitus has been on a roller coaster ride recently… it was almost nonexistent for a lot of the day. It's cranking now though!
Had a good run and was doing well... but this disorder seems to always get you. Ears are sensitive again and new sound in my right ear when I speak. My fault I got complacent. I hope this is just a spike and will improve.

Is it possible to not get worse? Is it possible to live being carful around noise all the time. Why do some people have T and can go to concerts. The frustration is insane.
Tryn2BHopeful
Tbh I was doing better. Sound tolerance was much improved with less bad days and more ok ones. Went to my daughter's orchestra concert and it seemed ok until a couple days later. Having back and forth days every since along with distortion to loud and sharp sounds in my right ear. I am sad to be back but support from non sufferers is impossible
Going to use this to journal since I have literally zero people who understand what I'm going through. those super loud spikes this morning scared the shit out of me. Back to the hissing and the occasional EEEE and the dog whistles. Can hear the hiss over my son watching Lilo and stitch, on the couch with pneumonia. Have had nonstop headaches.

@elPuritan ugh. Yeah. It's pretty terrible. Mine fluctuates sounds and swaps ears so I it's really hard when I think it's getting better or I'm getting used to it and then bam! New sound!
Last night was one of the worst it just started going crazy with sounds for no reason!

I hope you get better too. Wouldnt wish this on annnnnyone.
elPuritan
I know what you mean. I may not know exactly but i understand. I have 3 high frequency tones in my left ear all competing for a level 10 volume and a single EEEEE in my right that changes frequency and usually hangs out at a level 6-7 volume. This all started in June of this year.

Crazy to think that modern medicine has not figured out a remedy for this. My doctors can't figure out why this is happening and although my ENT is amazing, he is still left with guessing. Sorry to be chatting your eyes off. Anyways, hope today is somewhat better for you.
Was on a board game day for 8 hours. Everything started of good but it was alot of yelling when things happened at the board game. Not super loud but more like "NOOOO THATS MY STREET!". Been exposed for like 30 min-1 hour combined maybe. I thought i could handle it without earplugs. Today im spiking loudly (already was in a spike tho). Any tips are appreciated
orenge01
Wow I was also at a family gathering for like 8 hours. And it wasn't super loud, I was able to get breaks. Funny how similar situations can be.
I wish you can recover as soon as possible from this setback, and remember to bring earplugs next time even if the event doesnt feel like it can be super loud. It's definitely good to take precaution still. Wish you the best. :)

Yes i will definitly do that next time!

I applaud anyone who courageously steps forward to try whatever seems hopeful to defeat this beast that torments us. Please keep us posted about your experience. You know all of us are pulling for you!!

Where are you getting your treatments? Isabella
Arnaudswiss
Hello @Isabella 123,

Kindly,
Arnaud

Who else is hopeful for the Susan Shore device?
Sodlin
I just wanna get some updates. Dont like this radiosilence. Hopefully there will be some kinda of treatment. It dosent need to go away but lowering it abit would have been nice :)
SarahMLFlemmer
Yeah, kinda crazy.
Exposed to loud ambulance siren again (which was right next to me). I'm so done with this condition. I'm so done with these possible worsenings always happening to me, it's so exhausting/tiring I can't catch a break. :(
orenge01
@Sodlin I did wear earplugs, although they were albeit loosely on (because they dont want to stay in my ears properly for some reason and usually pop out), thanks for asking. I don't think I'm spiking I'm probably fine now. But yeah there are a lot of loud sounds to be aware of avoiding. Yeah not fun. :/ nvm I do seem to be spiking at least currently, oh man this condition is a piece of work...
Sodlin
Glad to hear ur doing better! I know what u mean. Went to a "boardgame evening" with alot of laughter and occationally people yelling because somthing happend at the game. Was having alot of fun but got a superspike from it which ive been dealing with for soon 2 weeks now. very frustrating stuff :p
orenge01
@Sodlin yup it's good to have fun though, boardgame evening does sound fun. But yeah the spike is always there as a side effect unfortunately :/
