  • Has your hearing improved? Need hope that mine can? I'm depressed about my acoustic trauma
Hey bro, it's been a few months have you found relief? I find that whenever my my tinnitus is loud in my left ear the right ear crates like noises or chatter or almost harmonies, i think it's because the neurons are overly excited when my tinnitus is loud, for instance i went out today and my ears are acting so strange.
    CW Dragon
hey, I've found a lot of relief, some of the melodies are gone and/or have faded.
    CW Dragon
When i wear my earplugs to sleep, the melodies from my left ear go straight over to my right ear. So I feel something is off with my brain. I have no idea what's going on (left ear is the bad ear).

did you ever had an audiogram done? do you still have melodies? do you have musical ear syndrome?
Hey bro are you still hearing melodies? I recently started hearing all these different sounds, are you taking anything to make it better of so what's are you taking? You don't have musical ear right?
    in_LA
@CW Dragon i hope once my ear heals it will go back to baseline,my question is why does this ear keep getting infected? Second time in 7 months, just as it was getting much better. Do you medications make it go away? Btw my audiogram is normal
    CW Dragon
I've tried both prednisone and amoxicillin at different times and still my middle ear is swollen and in pain. I'm going to an ENT neurologist to see if she can help me ease the pain. I figure it's just a very very long healing time. Does it feel like an acid burning pain in your ear? I pray this pain goes away by End of year.
    CW Dragon
I went to an ENT about a month ago who stuck a camera up my eustachian tube and said it looked "crusty" but didn't offer any advice on what to do next. I should have pushed if it's normal for it to be that way.
Doing better - consistent swelling and dull pain, but my hearing in my bad ear improves just a tiny bit each time it subsides. Give it time
Sleeping 10 hours a night (w/ a cigarette break at 4am) while having an ear plug in is the best part of my day. Ready for long, dark winter.
I woke up this morning, with my melody playing. I take my meds and it dissipates... Is my brain holding me hostage w/ T to feed it its fix?
    CW Dragon
I want to switch up to something with a longer span such as Klonopin/Clonazepam. Longer half life, and I hear good things about it on this website in regards to T control. Will ask my doc about Ativan too and see what he says.
    A
DON't do that. Klonopin has mamde people so worse, that they committed suicide. stay on avitan as long as you can.
    CW Dragon
Definitely won't do that now, still on xanax with upped dose
Just bought Function and Dysfunction of the Cochlea: From Mechanisms to Potential Therapies (Perspectives CSHL), will make for a fun Nov.
So what you think about OSHU? is this the thing we been waiting for
So it appears flowing/running water spikes my tinnitus... when in the shower or taking a bath, it still wants me to hear it. I don't get it.
    CW Dragon
It's basically whenever I take a shower, then it lowers in volume (but still audible) after as soon as I turn off the water. It's crazy. like it needs to maintain a level that I can constantly hear it.

That Happens to both me and my Wife's T. She's completely unbothered by her T. I'm extremely jealous of that. But ours will temporarily spike right after a high freq like running water or any such. Always returns to baseline. It's like the injured hairs are being triggered or something
    CW Dragon
Yep white noise like this running water + fans + wind is what spikes me, it's in the end my brain will place emphasis on the T to make sure I hear even over this white noise.
At times I want to go into an Anechoic chamber, rip my ears/audio cortex out, and just fall asleep. The tired that only this sleep fixes.
    volterra
But at least they don't have hyperacusis?
    Stacken77
I've never found any occurrence of removal of the auditory cortex in scientific literature (as a treatment for tinnitus). Would love to know more about it.
    volterra
Wouldn't you lose the ability to balance?
That feeling wearing ear Airpods at work like other people, but not listening to normal music like them, but actually water streams noise.
Habituation looks to be the only true 'cure' we have. Life is whimsical, you're happy then it all comes crashing down at one bad millisecond
In Boston now. Found out about Frequency Therapeutics being close by (Lexington), wish I could visit to show my unwavering support :)
    CW Dragon
Ah Boston is a nice city, crazy roads and traffic though. Moved up from Dunkin Donuts to Cannoli as my morning breakfast, I'm addicted. Will have to bring a half dozen or so on my way back to the midwest
    Forever hopeful
Cannolis. Have you been spending time in the North End? Roads are crazy. Traffic is awful. Kick DD to the curb. Go to Kane's Donuts on Rt 1 Saugus. Best donuts ever.
    CW Dragon
In Framingham, will check out Kane's tho tomorrow. I did go to Mike's pastries, maybe next time I am here I can hit up RT1 Saugus.
Every day, the same melody plays. These precious hearing cells were once normal and happy... If HL wasn't enough, T made sure it was.
    A
it is funny, right? You never focus on your ears.. until you have problems with them. Then you can't de-focus.
    CW Dragon
Yep that's all I think about. Only when I'm sleeping I don't. I'm somewhat eager to get sleep now. 9pm yes! Bedtime!
Company had Oktoberfest party playing accordions, I remember previously similar I had danced, now just covered my ears and went outside :(
Someone's playing a steelpan in my left ear 24/7. Slightly different tones with changing melodies. Mixed in with some super high freq tones.
I wake up to hissing instead of ringing and it stayed for an hour, then back to a smorgasbord of sounds. Plz just give back Shatner's hiss.
    A
It is really common, that the Tinnitus will settle to other levels during the first year, or ven subside fully. Just give it time.
    CW Dragon
Got to, no other choice. Two years I'm gonna give it. Success stories is keeping me alive.
    A
You will learn to life with it, i promise it to you. I never thought, that i can do it, but i did and got better over time.
I am a gray shell of my former self.
    CW Dragon
Yeah, I feel you. Just like I wish the noise would dissipate and it's driving me crazy. This ringing melody. I always had tinnitus but it was a low hum and I'd have to be in complete silence to hear it. I'm praying the other ear ringing turns into hiss or just goes away (it was hissy for a moment, and then at other times the ringing went away). So that's giving me hope
    CW Dragon
Yeah, I'm begging the hissing sound to come back. That's what keeps me going. It's like a ringing with different tones all similar that step over each other randomly. Best way I can describe it, the more closed I hold my ear, the more stable the ringing becomes I guess
    in_LA
I feel your pain bro :(
