    How's the hangover going?
    makeyourownluck
Lol, forgot about this. Tried to get it in the movie quote thread but it was a bridge too far.

I don't normally like Will Ferrell, but Talladega Nights has some good lines in it.
It's 6:30 here and I can't sleep. Kids up in 2 hours. Something tells me today will not be a good day.
    makeyourownluck
She's 5 but she's very well behaved and has entertained herself most of the day. Let's just say I'm looking forward to bedtime. I think I'm past all nighters.

Btw, I really likes your photo in the 'our art' thread. Do you have any more?
Inhaling steam(am&pm), drinking 2l of water(min),and massaging TMJ/face. Slight reduction in fullness, T unchanged, and my skin is glowing.
    ZFire
Hey @makeyourownluck , regarding the steam inhalation, how do you go about doing that?
    makeyourownluck
I bought a facial steamer with a compartment for essential oils.

I have oily skin so it's a two birds, one stone situation. Although, it's definitely helping my skin more than my ears.

I wish we could see into my ear. I just want to know what the problem is lol.
    ZFire
@makeyourownluck Same here, I have oily skin too. So I was congested from Covid. My left ear got clogged up..Steamed up intensively using a bowl of hot water and towel around head (with olbas oil). It eventually unclogged itself. My skin looks good too now, but probably not as good as yours though. You got that silky smooth skin i bet.
Found out my daughter needs glasses and I feel really sad about it. I know it's not that big a deal, but it's hit me hard.
    makeyourownluck
Yeah ok @ZFire, worse than before, but some improvement.

Still really bad at my local library though, which is a shame because it's been a safe haven for me and my daughter to play.

Thankfully Ive never had them as bad as you guys.
    makeyourownluck
Oh, and my girl looks super cute in her glasses :).
    ZFire
My 3 year old nephew wears glasses too. Cutest thing ever.
Hi I just saw your audiogram ( high frequency hearing loss ) and you said that you regained some of your upper frequencies. How long did it take? I have the same problem right now. Sudden hearing loss (3,5 hz - 6hz 20-30db)
    makeyourownluck
Ah, I have never been told there is a +\- 15dB range. That's a huge margin of error!

Very odd, the audiologist who took my last results said that she has only seen improvement on an audiogram in cases of sudden hearing loss (w/wo steroids). She suggested I may have had Covid.

I think we should choose to believe it's recovery, good for the mental health :)!
    E
Yes it is! I really have 7-8 audiograms done in one month and always with different results :D But yes you are right we should choose to believe its recovery . The Ent in the university clinic told me that its even in the high frequencies possible to recover!!
    Forever hopeful
Variance is extremely unusual. I have to question test reliability. 5 dB is the standard deviation.
My 1 year anniversary. To celebrate, an unexpected fire alarm. Yay!
    MartinPihl
My anniversary is in a month.. I also constantly get blasted with suprising sounds from my surroundings. Habituation seems impossiple, but at least one can move a little away from constant fear and anxiety in regards to T - i hope this is happening to you too.
    makeyourownluck
This is my first fire alarm, tinnitus increased yesterday but back to normal today.

I am not so anxious about my T, it's the ear fullness. Yesterday was horrific, anytime I swallowed or moved my ear I had physical pain. Gone by this morning. Just going to sit in a quite room while my daughters at nursery.
    makeyourownluck
At this point I am just so fed up listening to my own internal moaning.
The idea that I could habituate to the point where I 'forget' about my tinnitus seems unrealistic.
    ZFire
For moderate-severe folks, you won't forget entirely, but you'll have good stretches of forgetting it here and there. The brain eventually gets bored of constantly paying attention to it every hour of every day. Brain will find other stimulus to shift its focus on.
    makeyourownluck
Don't get me wrong, I have had moments when I'm caught up doing something else and I do not hear my T, but I could never forget about it long term. You know, the, "tinnitus, oh yeah I have that" scenario.
    NYCGuy
It did happen to me having severe Pulsatile tinnitus, high pitch tinnitus left ear and morse code tinnitus on my right, does take time.
Got TMJD. Getting a splint & ultrasound of muscles. A muscle just under my jaw is 'locked on'. Hopefully treatment reduces this fullness.
    Wrfortiscue
    Wish you good luck!
    ZFire
I think something good will come of it. They don't call you Lady Luck for nothing.
    makeyourownluck
If this pressure goes away, I will count myself as one of the luckiest MF'S on the planet.
Fed up of this bulls**t, I'm resuming normal life. Symptoms remain stable. Intense pressure is still the worst issue.
    makeyourownluck
First time I have seen my friends since onset. It's been a year.

My fullness definitely increases with noise exposure, but also increases when I use earplugs.

    Will see how this goes.
    D
Yeah same here. I saw my friends (8 people) last week after like 10 months and I also got some ear fullness, but subsided the next day. My symptoms are also quite stable generally, so I guess we have to keep on living somehow!
    makeyourownluck
That's great @DimLeb, I hope things keep getting better for you. I have constant ear fullness but I'm just fed up waiting lol. I have a young kid so it's impossible for me to avoid loud noise entirely. Just hoping the fullness will resolve over time.
New pulsating cicada noise in right ear. Low vibration in left ear has disappeared. I think my ears are trying to recover.
    ZFire
Melon baller lmao. Well, good to hear about your hearing being back in the 'normal' range atleast. Ears take a long time to heal. That's what a lot of people here say.
    makeyourownluck
So fed up waiting for these damn ears, I want new ones lol.

    But yes, progressing SLOWLY.
    seppl
Good news. I have the humming for 18 days. More intense at midnight or when i lay on my back or my head is looking up. Sometimes the humming is intermitted.
Constant rumble in my 'good' ear. Feels like a constant vibration. Took Valium, no change. Fed up of this.
    UKBloke
@makeyourownluck If you've experienced a measurable hearing loss but
ENT have discharged you then I'm quite surprised.
Dunno… maybe your GP needs to be a bit more active
and lead the way on this one?

I didn't get much from audiology unfortunately. Still
waiting for a face to face appointment. You know
    the drill.
    sakrt
@makeyourownluck. Each ear is different. T is one-sided. Loud low-bass rumbling, with PT in background being it's motor. Seems -behind- ear, reverberating via bone conduction so strong at times throughout body, alike a live electrical current in water. Both ears are very reactive to sound.
    makeyourownluck
You and me both @UKBloke. I will update my hearing loss thread with my audiogram from July next year before the loss and see what people make of it.

My GP has actually been quite good. They have issued about 3/4 urgent referrals since last year. Updating it every time new symptoms appeared. We are both at a loss.

I will upload my ENT letter that was sent to my doctor. She gave me a copy of it the other day.
Hi @makeyourownluck, I don't know directly which supplements you'd need for your inflammation treatment, but if you tell me what exact your issue is, I can consult with my herbalist to get some guidelines.
Does anyone else struggle to visualise things? I read it can be helpful for T. Anyone have a good technique?
Took some photos today, hopefully some good enough to print. It's been so long, I almost forgot how much I loved it.
    tracyNYC
You use film? I haven't touched my cameras -film or digital-in years. It would do me good to get out and shoot. Thanks for the nudge!
    makeyourownluck
Yes @tracyNYC, always film. I like how the limited number of frames makes you see things a different way. You can't get trigger happy. Im also a sucker for all things black and white lol.

It was a really positive day, you won't regret getting back out there!
Discharged from ENT without being seen. Symptoms: migraines, PT, T, intense pressure in my right ear. ENT says 'we do not treat tinnitus'
    BrOKeN_1
That ENT is pathetic... forget about the Tinnutus and treat symptoms that may be causing T. Sry to say that's an all to common response from a supposed professional.
    Marshall
    What a fucking joke
    makeyourownluck
Agreed, but you can't say anything bad about the NHS. Salt of the earth. I wish I could get back every penny of tax I have ever paid for this disgraceful organisation.

On the waiting list for 10 months and they don't even bother to send a letter. Only found out when I phoned my GP to chase things up.

WTF is going on with our health care system.
Hope the nightmares about tinnitus stop eventually... dreaming about being trapped in loud parties is getting a bit boring lol.
    ZFire
No worries lol, I found it kind of amusing if anything because there was a lot other weird stuff happening as well (too embarrassing to describe). My Dreams are strange AF
    makeyourownluck
    Now I'm intrigued lol. :)
    Shelbylynn
Holy crap I have these nightmares!! I'm always at a concert or a club dancing and I forget my plugs and I'm sick with fear.
Are you depressed or suicidal? Sometimes I get very depressed
    CC_16
Have you taken the flights? Did that affect your t or hearing? I would recommend stay away from diazepam as much as possible. Benzo is not to be messed with. I want my biological child so probably not going to adopt
    makeyourownluck
No, I've not travelled since onset. I'm worried about it. The pressure in my right ear is unbearable at times, any additional pressure would be too much for me.

Growing up I always thought I would adopt, but the process in the UK is very difficult.
    makeyourownluck
I understand your concern, but at this point I feel like I've suffered enough. A few months ago I couldn't even leave my house without a panic attack. Valium has improved my quality of life tenfold.

I am being careful though, and working with my doctor to ensure I don't develop a dependency. I take a low dose, and only when needed.
Any ladies care to mention what birth control they use and its effect (if any) on tinnitus? I went for a copper IUD and it's killing me.
    makeyourownluck
No worries, doesn't seem like there is much on her about BC. I'm having a really hard time with this method. Been on my period for over 3 weeks and the pain is intense. Scared to take hormones though... the joys.
    LilSass
Hi @makeyourownluck ! I have been on Seasonale for many years now (generic Indayo). I believe it's one of the lowest doses combination pills available. No effect on t. I take it consecutively, which is perfectly safe to do (no periods at all) according to my gynecologist. I am not planning on having children, so no concerns there.
    makeyourownluck
Thanks @LilSass, I will look into it. No period! Sounds bliss.
T has really changed my personality. Things that bothered me before no longer seem important. I've became really chill. Something positive.
    makeyourownluck
To be fair though, for a 5 year old she is very careful with cutlery, glass and ceramic. She knows they hurt my ears.
    Marshall
Same, things that use to make me nervous really don't anymore.
    makeyourownluck
Yeah man, I was in a car crash (low impact). I would usually be upset about the damage. Instead I just told the person not to worry about it. I was just happy my ears were fine.
My passenger was not happy with my small beep, and reach over me to blast the horn for 10s. I could kill them. Lady didn't hear it anyway!
My T is caused by hearing loss, genuine structural damage. Will it lower in volume eventually. It's getting to me today.
    makeyourownluck
Pulsatile tinnitus just the same, spiking with every change of position/action. Trying to push doctors to realise T and PT are not the same thing. I'd have more luck trying to squeeze a mushroom into a piggybank.
    Damocles
    It can take a while.

In my case it wasn't until a couple of years after onset.

Then I had a setback; so took another couple of years again after that.
    makeyourownluck
Fingers crossed. Got nothing but time...
    Diazepam is my hero.
    makeyourownluck
It doesn't make me sleepy at all @Steph1710, but it really helps my anxiety and sciatica.
    Steph1710
@makeyourownluck urgh, sciatica. I used to get it a lot until one day, I changed jobs, and realised it had been caused my the stool I was sitting on. :-/ My friend had sciatica so bad, he ended up having a back operation to release the nerve. And sorry you suffer from anxiety- that sh*t is the worst. :(
    makeyourownluck
@Steph1710 how did your friends operation go? I've been struggling with sciatica for over 2 years now and I'm toying with the idea. Trying to figure out why Valium helps though, maybe a tense muscle somewhere, but I've done PT/stretching for months with no results.
Anyone been through a break up with a young kid? How do we make this as easy as possible for our 5yo? Totally blindsided. T = 10/10
    makeyourownluck
It sucks @Wrfortiscue, just gets worse, never better. Just trying to keep my head above water at this point. I'll get there, I have to.
    UKBloke
I'm very sorry to hear this. I think the main thing with the little'un is to reassure her that none of this is her fault and that mum and dad love her very much. Time will take care of everything else.

And buy a lot of gifts always helps:)
