  • The past several days haven't been great. My parents finally made an appointment for me to see a dentist!

I'm sorry if this is too personal but how old are you that you have tinnitus?
I simply looked down and had a shooting pain in my jaw. The pain lately has been concentrated in my lower jaw, at the back teeth.

@Anniz My pain seems to be aggravated by movement, though it does still ache when I'm still. I still have ear pain, but its less as compared to other areas of my face. May I ask you a question? You wouldn't happpen to have pain in the back of your teeth (molar areas)?

@Marina Moon It would be nice for it to get better on its own. They are trying to look out for your best interest. Its not always easy as a parent to know what the best course of action is, we never want to see our kids suffer.

@Tryn2BHopeful You're right, and I do believe them and I know they love me alot. They don't want to see anyone hurt me/make things worse. Actually, I didn't even know that both my parents have tinnitus until they told me recently :(
My doctor says I'm vitamin D deficient! Does this have anything to do with my tinnitus? (Also I possibly have TMJ, still need a diagnosis)
Facial pain was bad today. Maybe driving in the car made it worse. I don't want this to be the rest of my life.

I think it will ease up as the months go on. My ears hurt less and less as time goes on. It was really bad at first. The car still causes some discomfort but not to the extreme it once did. Have hope. I talked to someone with severe hyperacusis and his got better after a year. Went away.

@Mo8409 Thank you for this glimmer of hope, and I'm glad you and this person have made progress! That is extroardinary! It feels like I'm waiting for the day when everything will be okay again, I have to endure and let my body heal...
I don't want to jinx this, but I have three different tinnitus sounds and one of them, the humming in my right ear, went away!
my parents really went from 'we're going to get the best doctors to help you' to 'we're not going to do anything about this, live with it.'

@Tryn2BHopeful I'm feeling good today! I still have facial pain, but I noticed that the humming sound in my right ear went away! 1 down, now 2 to go! AND I can swallow without making my left ear pop (half/most of the time), it's a minor achievement, but it makes me feel hopeful. How are you doing?

Things improved a little bit. Glad to hear you are making progress no matter how small. Almost sounds like you have tmj or ETD or something. Did you see the ENT?
    Marina Moon
@Tryn2BHopeful Same for you too! I initially went to the ENT in may for earwax removal, possibilities of impacted wax or ear infection because I was in pain, but my symptoms only worsened since then, and I got a spike right afterwards :( My GP then told me to go to an ENT, dentist, or neurologist as she was speculating TMJ or neuraglia but wasn't sure.
my dad says it's 'the beauty of youth' being able to hear as much as I'm hearing now. I'd wish he'd believe me when I say it isn't.
Went to the grocery store and a few minutes in I had to put my earmuffs on because it was loud, more so than anything I've felt before.

You could consider getting a nightguard. A lot of people grind teeth and don't know it, just don't expect it to make your T go away. No idea about the ear popping. When I first got T, I had a ton of TTTS but that went away.

@Watasha I'm not sure I grind my teeth, but my mom says I do & she's seen me do it, so perhaps a nightguard would help me. It's also hard to open my mouth some days, like it's straining to do it. I read that TMJ could inflame the eustachian tube and cause popping (I'm frantically searching the internet for answers lol) That's good! How long did it take your TTTS to go away?

I don't remember exactly, but it got less and less over the first year. I'd just urge you to live as healthy as you can but try not to "figure out" your T, more often than not it's just going to be a barrier to habituation. Good treatments are coming if we have to have them so might as well allow habituation to run its course.
I finally made an account, and hopefully in doing so, it will provide me with clarity and guidance as to what's happening to me.
