If it's just insomnia, I think that would persist just out of habit. Though I can't really speak of insomnia. I never wanted to sleep unless I was actually tired. Tinnitus just made that tendency far worse.

It's my understanding that maladaptive neuroplasticity from amputees results from the brain failing to remap neurons associated with the lost body part, so how would someone get tinnitus from acoustic trauma if their hearing is perfect? I'm inclined to think nerve damage is the reason.

I run for about an hour most days. I can't say it's super effective, but I feel better over all, and before the weather got cold the crickets used to mask my tinnitus quite well. I can still for the most part immerse myself in mind, but the cold just makes it worse.

You can't really ask the rats if they still hear the tinnitus after being lobotomized. The researchers are making assumption with what that brain activity means. There's no proof unless it's done on a human, who can answer whether it's gone or not.

Interesting. I could hear up to 16,000 Hz at my normal volume. Once I turned up the volume, I could hear the max at 20,154 Hz, so much for the theory of high frequency hearing loss. I even tested it while blocking my tinnitus free ear. I definitely didn't enjoy that 13,409Hz noise, I should add.

I don't think think an MRI would find anything if this happened because you used debrox. I would imagine the debrox somehow reached a nerve in the ear.
