Where on My Head Would Trauma Damage the Auditory Cortex?

If it's just insomnia, I think that would persist just out of habit. Though I can't really speak of insomnia. I never wanted to sleep unless I was actually tired. Tinnitus just made that tendency far worse.

Where on My Head Would Trauma Damage the Auditory Cortex?

I'm confused. Didn't your first post state that the tinnitus had "centralized" after 5 months, meaning it persisted despite the removal of the auditory cortex? Also I have no idea what they classify as tinnitus symptoms as no one knows I have tinnitus unless I tell them. I even remind my Mom...

My Trip to Bangkok: Stem Cell Treatment [Comments]

That was a little disappointing. I already knew about stem cells being used for MS, and it served as a reminder of how much money trying something would cost.

Poll: Does Your Tinnitus Stay the Same in Quiet and Noisy Room?

It doesn't generally change. Though if there's noise I generally don't notice it as much. I may even forget about it for a little while. I thought about voting no because it seems like it disappears during social actives at times and isn't a matter of masking, but I doubt that answer would...

    Does Tinnitus Usually Go Away?

It's my understanding that maladaptive neuroplasticity from amputees results from the brain failing to remap neurons associated with the lost body part, so how would someone get tinnitus from acoustic trauma if their hearing is perfect? I'm inclined to think nerve damage is the reason.

    Does Tinnitus Usually Go Away?

I read 80% goes away within months on here.

Does High Energy, High Heart Rate, Aerobic Type Exercise Help?

I run for about an hour most days. I can't say it's super effective, but I feel better over all, and before the weather got cold the crickets used to mask my tinnitus quite well. I can still for the most part immerse myself in mind, but the cold just makes it worse.

Where on My Head Would Trauma Damage the Auditory Cortex?

You can't really ask the rats if they still hear the tinnitus after being lobotomized. The researchers are making assumption with what that brain activity means. There's no proof unless it's done on a human, who can answer whether it's gone or not.

Where on My Head Would Trauma Damage the Auditory Cortex?

@Glowout from what I tell you've only had tinnitus for a few months. There's lots of better, less self-destructive methods to pursue than destroying your auditory cortex. I'm not saying you will get the results you want, but some people have or have at least had improvements. I doubt you've...

Interesting Story: Someone Who Cured Their Tinnitus

It sounds interesting and definitely worth a try. There's a lot of things in our body we can control, yet our generally thought of as automated. If most people recover from tinnitus naturally, then there's no reason why my mind shouldn't in principle be able to trigger my recovery. Something...

Story About Someone Recovering from Acoustic Trauma

Yeah, I remember seeing it on this forum and thinking it would be worth a try. I didn't think explaining how I wanted a bee to sting me would go over well, so I never pursued it. If it's the same guy, that's disappointing.

Story About Someone Recovering from Acoustic Trauma

The thing is the latest post before she announced her recovery was 4 weeks after her trauma, and at 4 weeks her tinnitus was going on and off, a sign that she was on her way to recovery. I like to think that I'm slowly getting better, but it's impossible to tell. I do find the idea of...

Just Curious, Who Is Able to Hear This Tinnitus Frequency?

Interesting. I could hear up to 16,000 Hz at my normal volume. Once I turned up the volume, I could hear the max at 20,154 Hz, so much for the theory of high frequency hearing loss. I even tested it while blocking my tinnitus free ear. I definitely didn't enjoy that 13,409Hz noise, I should add.

Debrox to Treat Excess Wax Caused Tinnitus and Eardrum Pain/Noise Sensitivity

I don't think think an MRI would find anything if this happened because you used debrox. I would imagine the debrox somehow reached a nerve in the ear.

    Magic Mushrooms "Reset" the Brain

I'm not sure if it's related or not, but there was a study on a component ecstasy, MDMA, that a study indicated gave patients seven plus days of relief from tinnitus. There's also a ton of anecdotal evidence that it helped with tinnitus. I really wish little things like legality wouldn't get...
