  • Hey, I noticed that you've been absent from Tinnitus Talk lately. I just wanted to say that I hope you're doing ok.
Hi FGG - you're the only other person I've found on here who got bad, distortion type tinnitus from Azithromycin and I've been really scared to get the COVID-19 vaccine because of all the things people have been saying. I was wondering if you happened to get it or have an input on how to lower the risk? Thank you.
    Tezcatlipoca
You should get it. The alternative (COVID-19) can be much worse for your tinnitus.
I really want to listen to a Lydia Loveless album right now and it's making me so sad that I can't :(.
    Guywithapug
Oh I see, I wasn't sure of the specifics of your hearing condition. Do hearing aids have any positive impact?
    FGG
@Guywithapug , hearing aids have zero impact unfortunately. My damage is only OHC above about 10000hz, below it's a combination stria vascularis damage, IHC and possibly central damage, too. The only "music" that sounds remotely normal is wind chimes one note at a time.
    Guywithapug
Sorry to hear that, sounds absolutely terrible to endure.
I think my love language is quality time, touch and researching the crap out of things for people.
    FGG
@Kriszti , I def wouldn't trust me more than your doctors but i appreciate the confidence :).
    Kriszti
@FGG Well, ok, I rephrase it :) Your input regarding tinnitus has been a lot more useful than anything an ENT or neurologist ever told me about the condition. So I'm really thankful. You should definitely do research or write a book.
    FGG
@Kriszti , if they could fix me to the point where I could do research, the research would have already been done. I have written a book actually(fiction though, not at all medical related). If I ever get better, I would love to edit it to try to publish it.
I'm sorry for my contribution to the de-railing of the photo thread. Lol.

I need to check this out! I've been dividing my time between Tinnitus Talk and vestibular.org.
    Steph1710
@FGG okay, so didn't start it, by you are an accomplice - you'd make a great wingman (woman). If our ears were not screwed, I'd take you on a night out, & you could help find me date. Ha!
    FGG
@Steph1710 , if my ears ever recover, I'm down for real. Realistically, I will be in my 50s at the earliest though and (not trying to be sexist here but it's true) even guys that age aren't too keen on women over 50 so I might slow you down... If for some reason, it happens earlier, though, I can meet almost anyone by dancing with them :).
Stye update. I can't roll my eyes right now without it hurting. It's a legit handicap when using the internet :).
Have a stye and I'm excited to have a medical problem, I can watch resolve in a week for once.
    Keith Handy
I get small injuries and two days later I'm like "daaamn that was quick."
    Keith Handy
I miss the days of posting about "first world problems" to Facebook. Remember those?
    FGG
@Keith Handy , I had to delete fb 2 years ago. Just made me feel like I was living in a different universe.
Screw it, I'm trying the wine cure.
    FGG
I had definite less sound sensitivity for a few hours, fell asleep and woke up with more face pain but I didn't want to mix Ambroxol with it.
    Guywithapug
    Chardonnay? Cabernet Sauvignon?
    FGG
$5 Trader Joe's table red. It was for medicine, not sipping. That makes me sound like an alcoholic. Lol. But I'm far from that.
If I ever get music back, someone is gonna have to spend a year with me playing all the records I will have missed...
    FGG
@Keith Handy spoken conversation is fine, weirdly. I can't watch TV without captions, though. The only "music" that isn't distorted badly is windchimes, one note at a time. Macrolides affect central pathways too, though. I have about 500 records just sitting there...
    Keith Handy
I have ONE downloaded masking track that's boring as hell but I can listen to it without getting frustrated. It has a crunchy hiss that *just* approaches the problem frequency range and kind of blends with my internal noises. I hate it, but I hate it less than *not* listening to it, sometimes.

    Monophonic windchime party, ahoy! *sigh*
    FGG
If i ever start writing again, i think i will have to include a "Monophonic Windchime Party" somewhere.
Fortune cookie today: "Your life will be happy and peaceful."
    Keith Handy
Wouldn't it be nice to get a visit from your future self to confirm this?
    FGG
Well damn: "After reading the fortune, you must not tell anyone your fortune, and then eat your fortune cookie and put paper on fire for it to come true. 7.) If there is no fortune in a fortune cookie, it is a sign that something good will happen to you soon. (Because fortune-cookie-fairy owes you one fortune.)"
    FGG
Instructions unclear. Told everyone, then ate fortune.
Thank you for all your contributions to the research threads. For so many of us, information & analysis = hope.
    FGG
Thanks. I guess i miss being the vet who used to annoy the drug reps by asking them to email me the studies :).
This study showed how treating palatial myoclonus treated a patient's depression so what did they conclude? (Discussion continued below)
    athan86
I have palatial myoclonus. Do you have a link?
    FGG
    FGG
But essentially, they concluded that Botox must be an anti-depressant because he felt less depressed after treatment. Couldn't possibly be that his symptoms were making him depressed.
Can't figure out the fluctuations in my pain levels that seem almost unrelated to my degree of sound sensitivity.
If God exists, he/she has it out for me for some reason. The bottom is a trick floor.

Same, I think I may have done something wrong in my life and God is out to get me for payback.
**Sending one warm 15 minute hug your way!** Teddy sends you love too <3
    FGG
Seriously, what would we do without pets?
    LilSass
So true FGGG! I have two cats and now a puppy and they truly help me forget about the pain and distress of it all. Animals can really teach us to live in the moment. I hope you are doing better today. :)
    FGG
@LilSass . still in a lot of pain but I am noticeably better today than yesterday. I'm wondering if a lot of yesterday was an unfortunate metal dog bowl incident...
Hi. I seen you post you hand Menier's and took antivirals. Can I ask you a couple questions?

    Thanks.
    FGG
Meniere's was a misdiagnosis (the fact that my vertigo episodes lasted up to 48 hours actually excludes Meniere's but my first ENT didn't know that). But sure, ask away!
    Forever hopeful
What is the vertigo criteria Ménière's.
    FGG
@Forever hopeful , 24 hours is considered the upper limit. I had two episodes longer, with my longest around 48 hours of full rotational vertigo. Edit: post episode dizziness is not included in that.
In an unlimited multiverse, there is a universe where the only difference is no Sierra Mist, only Sprite. I need *way* more to be different.
Ear pain is worse again after tapering Pred. Guess it was mostly just masking pain for me :(.
Guys, I know we are waiting on Fx-322 results but don't forget to submit Sound Pharma podcast questions soon...
Sorry to status spam today but I'm on super strict ear rest and bored. Tell me an obscure fact about the place you are from...
    FGG
My local otologist is useless. Last time I had to travel to another state and that doctor has since retired from clinical practice. I'm resting it because mine appears to be mostly TTTS related and I'm trying to help the muscle relax. After that period, I'm going to slowly reintroduce low level sound. This is my own plan and I'm winging it.
    Keith Handy
I lived near the Fisher Price headquarters. It was in a cheerful-looking section of the village of East Aurora, NY.
    FGG
@Keith Handy , small town NE is so quaint. I'm originally from a small town as well but in the South.
I'm glad I was a vet and not an MD. It must suck to go through all that school and not ever be able to help your patients :).
    Steph1710
This is simply the best comment I've EVER read!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Genius!! *clap clap*
    Diesel
    Low key burn.
    kuromi
Ouuuch. That sting hit across borders!
Thinking back to when all this started & believed ex husband would be there for me in "sickness and health".
    Steph1710
Therapy certainly is a good way of unlocking and letting go of different emotional attachments.
    Zugzug
This may not be any form of consolation, but so much of it all is luck. I don't mean to rub bad luck in your face, but you are not the problem. This forum is often a reminder to me that bad things happen to good people... It blows my mind how many good-hearted people are on this forum.
    FGG
@Zugzug, I know what you mean. There are so many good people on here in bad situations they could never deserve. It completely solidifies my belief that karma doesn't exist.
    MrCrybaby
What's really mind boggling is the amount of power it takes to generate one of the tokens art like this is attached to
    FGG
It's true, @MrCrybaby and it is interesting but I can't think of better symbol of extreme excess and consumerism literally for its own sake than this.
    MrCrybaby
@FGG I guess the snake can't help but eat its own tail... We've evolved past hoarding gold and into hoarding unique digital tokens lol.
    Tweedleman
did you hear about the mysterious devices Brian Johnson now has installed in him? He signed NDA unfortunately. But all of a sudden he can tour again and hear guitar tones he hadn't in years
    FGG
@TheDanishGirl , I looked further. She (the surgeon trying to pioneer this) is now saying 10-20 years (from 2017) but she's heading a national multi-disciplinary program to do this.
    FGG
@Tweedleman , it's apparently a new kind of in-ear monitor that combines a hearing aid with a monitor for musicians.
Really bad night. I guess they all are.
    TheDanishGirl
How do he think people with panic attacks, will feel if they will be told: "if you think you'll die then that WILL happen" and if people dont get better then you can just shame people: "you just wont believe, you will get better, and thats why you have not gotten better"
    TheDanishGirl
I have personal experience with that mindset and its only been damaging to me and made my anxiety even worse and still do. It makes me scared of my thoughts, because Im afraid they'll create my reality. Thats not a good and healthy stradegy to change a mindset.
    LilSass
@FGG! I don't even know what to say except I'm sorry that your friend has such a flawed view on your situation. Whilst I believe in the power of positive thinking, it has it's limits. I like to keep an open mind but it is absurd to think that our thoughts control reality. Has he manifested his mansion yet? Life just is, IMHO. Not sure I believe in God, but I'll keep praying, can't hurt, right?
