What would you have rather have gotten other than tinnitus or hyperacusis? I tell ya... I'm in a wheelchair and rely on just my arms to get around and would have rather broken an arm instead of getting this horse shit.

A lot of radio shows have segments where callers can call in and talk about stuff. I think we all should start doing this. Your call is heard over the air across whatever area you are in. I think awareness would sky rocket if we all did this.

Is it standard procedure to have an MRI included in the many initial tests they give you for tinnitus? Also, does anyone know if they can even do an MRI if you have metal in your face?

I wish my t was quiet enough to only hear with my fingers in my ears. I would gladly accept that level of noise and move on with no problem. Mine is BLASTING out of my left ear right now. Its the loudest thing I hear.

@glynis Thank you for your kind words. @GregCA My left ear has a major problem with the middle ear. I am currently on antibiotics because my ENT thinks its an infection.

I'd like to know what you all think of the ATA podcast, "Conversations in Tinnitus" on the ATA website. They have 4 on there so far and the last 2 are really good in terms of research.

What the hell is it about tinnitus that makes people who don't have it so dumb? I swear I feel like ever since onset, I have stepped into an alternate reality where people just don't use common sense. T is a huge elephant in our world that everyone just ignores. Ugh...it makes me so angry!

I talked with Steven Cheung, the lead researcher leading the DBS study for tinnitus. He said the risk of any electrical stimulation therapy worsening tinnitus is generally very low.
