The thingy is to help you insert the plugs into your ears. the outer end of the plug fits in the thingy. Then you pull up your ear a bit with one hand, and with the other you insert the plug with the thingy. It's easy, you'll get used to it in no time.

Dude, you're improving, but don't overthink it. I drink lots of Coffee, the ocasional alcohol, and so on. Just do what you like as any normal human being would. The more you think about it, the more you focus on it. You're in a very good shape, and you're not too long into it. As time passes...

It gets better. I also wear custom plugs on loud environments, but other than that I was able to move my life forward after developing Tinnitus. For me, one of the worse things about Tinnitus is the Self-Blame, we all have some "I used to do this and that" and blame ourselves. It takes a while...

Yes, you should go back to school. Your chances of building a good life are severely diminished if you quit school. Classes etc. should be more than O.K. for you. In Venues with live music, events where you need to scream to be heard, etc. you should wear earplugs. Best, Zug

Ibuprofen makes my Tinnitus more noticeable. If you can't be without it, why not try some simple masking technique such as placing a small water fountain near you, leaving the TV on, etc? I feel you should talk about medication and side effects to a doctor.

If you work with loud music you can get musicians earplugs or other adequate protection. A lot of musicians do. Just go back to your life. It's easier if you make it a gradual process, so plan to spend a little bit of time doing whatever it is that you used to do, than a little more and so on...
