Headphones — I Can't Give Them Up Altogether

    Indoor Only Hypercacusis...?

It's likely because the base noise level is lower indoors. So when there is noise it goes from zero to lots of noise, and as something is wrong with your middle ear it create a spams or something. I used to have this as well but it faded. The more you think about it the more it will happen...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

Last February they told us 12-18 months for the trial. Since the phase 1 trial has been a little delayed I guess it will probably start around the 18 months mark, so at the end of this year.
  22. V

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

A phase 1 trial focuses on safety. In most cases efficiency is not monitored. Patients from the clinical trial had cochlear implant surgery just after the procedure, so efficiency couldn't be measured anyway. We have to wait for phase 1b/2 for this.

Tempted to Break Up with Girlfriend Who Put Me in a New Noise Situation

Since getting T I've been to several parties and bars with earplugs and appart from a spike of T and H for the next day, it didn't worsen anything permanently. Just don't go to loud clubs or concerts (even with plugs) and you should be fine.

Man relax. Those kind of sounds aren't going to do any damages. In my 1+ year of reactive T and H, those sounds have never increased my T permanently. They only gave me small H setbacks and at worse a louder T for like a day. The sounds you should be worried about are things like loud music...

    Tinnitus and Mobile Phone Use

Music with Bass and Hyperacusis Spike

Maybe Michael misunderstood you... If by harm you meant pain then yes it can but irreversible damage to the auditory system (such as HL) I don't think so not at 50 dB. Might give spikes that last for a week or more though. When I said harm I was reffering to permanent damage to the auditory system.

Music with Bass and Hyperacusis Spike

@Michael Leigh I don't get it you're the one that's always saying that normal sounds does not harm and that you're suppose to get expose to those sounds and not stay in silence to improve H but now you say that listening to music at normal volume can be harmful ?

    Cure for Hyperacusis??

@Michael Leigh you indeed have the right to speak your own opinion and claim that H can be cured but stop saying "Don't listen to X or Y because he's wrong and he knows nothing about T or H or whatever he is talking about". That's what offend people, at least in my case.

    Cure for Hyperacusis??

I'm almost certain that a cure of T will cure H in many cases. A cure for hearing loss might also help with T and therefore H. The term hidden hearing loss also refer to H. If those things don't cure your H, you might want to get your muddle ear checked as the problem would most likely arise...

    Setbacks from Watching TV

Those speakers shouldn't be too harsh on the ears at least way less than the tv ones. I don't think bookshelves would make that much of a difference. Maybe if you can use an EQ to smoothen the treble it can help. Do you feel that treble sound are more tiring for your ears ?
  54. V

    Setbacks from Watching TV

What speakers are you using ?
  55. V

    Setbacks from Watching TV

It's because those speakers only produce high frequency sound, and your ears must be way more sensitive to then. Try to get some decent speakers for your TV and maybe you'll be able to watch at very low volume
