    Two Weeks Into TRT

@Bertman Will do, though thinking about T doesn't bother me like it did, but it finds me no doubt. I think the T itself is fearful as it is really resistant to the sound generators at this point like a tug of war. See where this goes. Thanks for your well wishes.

    Two Weeks Into TRT

First day was consult with the audiologist/Dr, hearing test again for the umpteenth time, but by law they have to do it if it is over a year old I believe. The next visit was to try out a hearing aid/sound generators and wore it during the first counselling session. I trialled it, a week later...

    Two Weeks Into TRT

Too early to tell if its working, but one of my hearing aids stopped working and I lost my "crutch" for three days, I noticed a difference, otherwise I would have said no change. It took about 2 days to get used to the sound generators.

    Will Growing Older Worsen Tinnitus?

@Lisa123 Lisa, I was told similar by an audiologist, its your hearing that gets worse, not your T, shortly after I got back from the trip to see him my T got worse, so go figure, I like Carlos take it one day at a time, I do mindfulness and that helps keep the anxiety low and not live in the...

Poll: How Often Do You Wear Earplugs?

I have never worn ear plugs because I don't go anywhere too noisy. I used to be able to use a lawnmower until last spring, however ear muffs make my T louder, I also developed H last fall from something.

It Seems to Be Getting So Much Worse :(

Sorry to hear you have T. I can empathize with your concern. I had T since 2002, and in 2010 it started to get worse, I finally crashed in Aug of last year. I'll spare you the details, but suffice to say I was at the point of being suicidal. I'm still going. One small step every day. My...

Can Listening to a Frequency Similar to Your Tinnitus Make It Worse? Scared Here.

I guess we all have different reactions. I have been playing a bell melody for over a month close to, but below the frequency of my "ringing", for me it seems to confuse the brain as to what it is focused on and the tendency is now that my brain gets locked on the melody and ignores the T, until...

    Low Energy Neurofeedback System

@valeri There is evidence that it can be helpful for management, I found it got my anxiety and stress level down after about 10 sessions. It knocked my T around, but I still have it. I am fighting Veteran Affairs, if I can get funding my psych has already recommended the second method I guess...

    Low Energy Neurofeedback System

@Telis I had two different methods, the one you refer seeking I had one session, they reverted me back to the other without the electrical stimulation as well. They said I needed a combination of the two, but I was pretty messed up when I went in, and kept me on the more conservative approach. I...

    Does the Energy Come Back?

Its a very slow process Telis, at least for me, I have severe depression on top of everything else, so I have been a basket case, but baby steps.
  19. Blair14

    Low Energy Neurofeedback System

yes, I had about 8 probes on my skull, they had complete control of the process, but they gradually gave me control. I just sat there. The process was to help train my brain to fill the gaps. which is the tinnitus we hear.

    Coping With Tinnitus

T is on warp mode today, the worst I think it has ever been. I got a cold and hopefully it is attributed to that, its also storming out and my T has been up for the last 12 days for the most part. I read a couple things that has helped me: You have a choice about managing emotions, your...

    Toward Habituation?

@st0rch I hear you, no pun intended. I am using a bell melody just below my ringing and it seems to screw with my brain focus on T, I hear the melody, but have to consciously listen for the T. My thought was if I mask it totally, perhaps when I unmask my brain has adapted or been training to...
  24. Blair14

    Toward Habituation?

@I who love music I never masked either, but I had a thought that if your focus is not on the T, but something louder (perhaps a week or two?), your brain would get trained to focus better?? then, fall back to lowering whatever is used for masking to a level below the T or perhaps nothing at...
  25. Blair14

    Toward Habituation?

Masking does not promote habituation directly. However, would masking assist in moving indirectly toward habituation by developing your "focused attention", then that skill can eventually be applied as "focused distraction" but ... then lead to habituation? I am suggesting this if your brain...

    Tinnitus Reduced By Busyness

@Silvine @Mark McDill Well Silvine came up with the idea of the throwing a cobra on my keyboard (above), thought it was amusing so I added the part of going to a pet store to get one. Another day of screaming, I note your words of encouragement and wisdom.

    Tinnitus Reduced By Busyness

@Mark McDillI don't know I have so many irons in the fire and I am pushing them all and I am wore out. Why do I have to do EVERYTHING, even think for some of them. @Mark McDill Thanks Mark. @Silvine Thanks for your time and you got me to laugh, hasn't happened much lately. Please get that Cobra, perhaps that's what I need in the house. I think its the contrast. @Paul 201 I'm stuck and I'm angry, yes I need exercise, I lost a lot of weight with my severe depression (as a result of increase in T), started to eat again, want to keep the weight off need those endorphins. Tinnitus Reduced By Busyness

I'm struggling big time. I had my T increase for a long time, seems like it plateaued about 2 months ago, now on a 7 or 8 day spike, at this point the number is irrelevant, and then I try to do any activity it goes to a new level. I got my anxiety and fear down, now I feel flutterings of anxiety...

    Curiosity Question Regarding Random Tones

Just wondering if anyone has had random tones that might last perhaps up to 30 secs that start sharp and gradually fade to nothing on top of T and H. Physiologically any idea what might be occurring or why? I have had them on occasion, no associated pain and yesterday had 4 occurrences, strange.

Clonazepam: To Take or Not to Take, That Is the Question.

@Tweaker Clonazepam or Klonopin is a primarily used as a sleep med. I took it for about 2 1/2 months at 1 mg daily. I had no side effects. I had no improvement in my T or H. I found once I caught up to a more regular sleep pattern, it really had no improvement on my T or H, though my perception...

    Is There Anything That Helps?

Interesting Gabrielle, "even though I was relaxed, no stress, no fear, no anxiety...." I thought it was just me. If Your Tinnitus Was Softer, Could You Manage Better?

@Leah I could not protect my ears from normal everday sounds, if I use earmuffs to mow my grass my T gets worse, as I understand because I am starving my auditory system of sound, which it naturally seeks and the contrast cranks up the T. People say they go to concerts etc with earplugs, I guess...

If Your Tinnitus Was Softer, Could You Manage Better?

Well, by definition I would agree, I am not so sure if Dr. Nagler would. I am wondering if that is me myself. Perhaps its aggravation by H, perhaps I just need time?
  44. Blair14

If Your Tinnitus Was Softer, Could You Manage Better?

Well, I thought there was a debate over the fact that there is no such thing as "reactive" T, I don't endorse it, but I wouldn't doubt it either, I don't know. The debate over loudness/softness has been another topic, the pitch or volume should make no difference, it is how we react. The quieter...

    Tinnitus Doesn't Bother Me Anymore

@cmkc109 If there is one thing I have learned, live in the moment, not in the future. Worry = anxiety = sleep issues = increase likely in your T. You can only live one day at a time. Fortune telling, catastrophizing are irrational thought patterns and serve you no good. Challenge your negative...

If Your Tinnitus Was Softer, Could You Manage Better?

I notice any physical activity as simple as a short walk, exposure to children joking, going into a silent room (contrast), masking increase the perception of it being louder?? Ideas?? It will not cause damage, but causes spikes and it will obviously spike for other unknown reasons.

    Stress/Cortisol and Tinnitus

@I who love music I think I got it, I stumbled across something when reading a book on mindfulness, "being" rather than "doing", this seems to have potential to work, I have had two relatively decent days in a row, I have had nothing close to this point. I have had glimpses a couple of times...

    Stress/Cortisol and Tinnitus

@RicoS I hear it, but I am not stressed or anxiety riddled anymore, but I don't like it, that's about how reactive I am. Fear is pretty well gone too, a little wary, but all down to say 20%. T is louder than 15 weeks ago when it is bad? So?its just time, the brain has to do the work to adjust? I...

@DutchGuy Mine is worse than it was 14 wks ago, I am not in the place mentally I was back then, have taken measures that I would have expected a decrease, when it steps to the next level, it stays for a while and then goes up again. No clue.
