2020 US Presidential Election

Thanks to Elon Musk, the lies about January 6 have been exposed, and some on the left are apologizing for condemning the participants who, for the most part, were peaceful. I did not need to see the tapes, I knew that the Democrats lied, as they always do, but it is nice that we now have proof.

Former 'Democratic Party icon' apologizes to conservatives; lauds release of January 6 footage

Feminist author Naomi Wolf offered a formal apology to conservatives who "put America first" after reviewing newly-released footage of the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

"Peaceful Republicans and conservatives as a whole have been demonized by the story told by Democrats in leadership of what happened that day," Wolf said in a lengthy post on Substack Thursday.

Hey @Jammer, I must say, you have quite the talent for writing "scathing prose". Of course, you couldn't ask for a better subject to be the object of that prose. I love it! :D

So Biden approved oil drilling in pristine Alaska while Silicon Valley Bank was collapsing. How convenient!

Can we talk now about all the pollution the oil drilling will cause?

Why pushing that nonsense electric cars if oil companies are going to expand their operations and, just operating the drilling facilities and transporting oil, is going to pollute the same as millions of gasoline cars?

So what's this electric car nonsense?

@Juan, you may not be familiar with American politics, but it makes no sense to blame Biden (a Democrat) for the oil drilling that's currently going on. Democrat Jimmy Carter first installed solar panels on the White House while he was in office in the late 1970's. It was mostly a symbolic gesture at the time to signal the need to transition to renewable energy resources, and phase out fossil fuels. Though his primary thinking was probably geopolitical and unreliable Middle East energy sources, climate change would eventually become a more urgent matter for most Democrats.

When Reagan came into office in 1980, he tore down those solar panels, and with fellow Republicans, did the oil and gas industry's bidding for the next half century. Are you familiar with drill, baby, drill? Straight from the Republican playbook (and rallying cry). Republicans (and their backers) continue to think that fossil fuels are somehow "manly", and renewable resources of energy are "wimpy". You may be surprised to learn that people who drive Teslas in the U.S. are often harassed on the roads by macho, gas guzzling pickup trucks (with some drivers having red necks).

Anyway, don't blame Biden or the Democrats for the oil drilling and the current state of earth's climate. If they had had they way, there would have been a huge marshaling of energy and resources into finding ways to stop our reliance on fossil fuels long ago (decades), and avoid the current state of our deteriorating climate. America has some of the greatest research facilities in the world. We could have been mostly fossil fuel free by now if the political will had been there. It was by most Democrats, but opposed by most Republicans.

And BTW, Donald Trump has maintained that climate change was "a hoax invented by the Chinese", and that wind turbines cause cancer. And when Donald Trump says something (anything, no matter how outlandish), tens of millions of his followers believe it (to the great misfortune of the rest of the people in the U.S.).
It is time for Jerome Powell to quit or be fired with immediate effect:
Not unless you can blame him for the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the ensuing global supply chain disruptions, loose monetary policies by the Federal Reserve for way too many years, and ridiculous profligate overspending by the U.S. government creating over $1 trillion in new debt per year. If he can legitimately be blamed for all those inflation causing factors, then yes, he should quit or be fired.

It looks like Trump and Desantis continue to lead the field...

And it doesn't look like a good crop yield - too much fertilizer.

This is representative of something that started under the Tea Party, amped up after Trump won, and then really amped up after Trump lost. The rhetoric and positions needed to win a Republican primary outside of New England have caused Republican politicians to completely divorce themselves from where the other 70% of the country live their lives.

Which is why you're going to see this absolutely bonkers Trump/DeSantis primary where they speak in abbreviations and various Fox News Outrages of the Week, and then strike out in a general election because for some reason they can't figure out why they're not connecting with the median voter. Or why their objectively insane policy positions (to the degree that you can even call them "policy" anymore) also are really good at driving Democratic turnout.

Are Meatball Rob and Cheeto Man Child the best that the GOP has to offer? They're burning down the house! Shore up the extreme faction and push away the mainstream GOP. Sad.

Fossil fuels are the lifeblood of our economy for the foreseeable future. Windmills and solar only work intermittently. I read that the electric power stations burn fossil fuels so so we only gain about half in lesser CO2 emissions in the end.

I don't even know if electric vehicles would work during the winter in the Midwest. Batteries don't work as well in cold weather and then you have to heat the cabin somehow. Farm Tractors are mainly diesel and I don't think that's changing anytime soon. I would bet most people on this thread clamoring for electric vehicles don't have one themselves because they cost too much. They are all talk and no action.

Btw, I hope Biden gets caught for his influence peddling with the Chinese. James Comer is well on his way exposing the corruption in the Biden family. It doesn't make sense Biden didn't shoot down the Chinese spy balloon over Alaska or Montana where the chance of hitting a human was almost nil. Shooting it down in the ocean with the saltwater could corrode any delicate electronics attached to the balloon.

The lies, the corruption... the irony!

Barney Frank defends role at Signature Bank: 'I need to make money'

From Newsweek: "The prevailing opinion among intelligence analysts and scientists appears to remain that COVID-19 likely spread into the human population by jumping the species barrier from livestock in the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, a wet market in Wuhan."

Fuuci was funding a lab in Wuhan that was conducting experiments and other research with dangerous viruses, including coronavirus.

How politically motivated, or stupid, do you have to be to believe Fauci's theory that his Wuhan lab was not responsible for this disease, which has taken the lives of 7 million people?

Fauci is now saying that his critics are politically motivated, due to his problems with Donald Trump.

So Trump de-regulated the financial industry in 2018, after executives from Silicon Valley Bank and other "medium" sized banks and regional entities asked him to do so. We saw the results last Monday: the banks collapsed.

On top of that Barney Frank went to work for SVB and made over 2 millions. And he was basically lobbying to repeal the... Dodd-Frank act!

Now the taxpayers have to bail out a number of banks just to rescue those greedy Tech Billionaires who do not pay taxes, and to rescue greedy bankers who were getting risky operations that were too risky, and they were very well aware of that.

So if these greedy bankers and Tech Billionaires win, they are "geniuses" and if they screw up, taxpayers have to bail them out so that they do not suffer any losses :cautious: o_O

What a wonderful world we are creating! Or, better said, what a wonderful world politicians are creating for themselves and for the greedy spoiled elites!

Now the taxpayers have to bail out a number of banks just to rescue those greedy Tech Billionaires
My understanding is that not a single taxpayer dollar is being used to bail out these banks. All deposits, even those that are not insured, will be paid to bank customers from various funds such as the FDIC, and other large banks pooling their resources to make sure smaller regional banks stay well capitalized. Not sure where you're getting your information on government bailouts.
to rescue greedy bankers who were getting risky operations that were too risky, and they were very well aware of that.
Not to say there aren't greedy bankers out there making risky investments, but it doesn't necessarily appear to be the case with the American regional banks. The problem is they have large amounts of super-safe long-term government bonds that have gone down in value since interest rates started rising a year ago. If these bonds are held to maturity, there's virtually no risk involved.

The problem is when there starts to be a run on the bank, and the banks are put in a position of having to sell these long-term bonds at current market rates (at a loss) to pay depositors their money. I think the real problem is the U.S. Federal Reserve is raising interest rates too fast, and the banking system that depends on consistency wasn't prepared for that. Perhaps a case could be made that they should have, but I see the Federal Reserve as the primary culprit.

People who talk about "bailouts" are usually under the incorrect impression that their tax money is being given away like welfare to greedy capitalists. They are not aware that these are loans, not free money. Businesses that are helped out of debt by the government are required to pay these loans back, with interest, to the government, which is a good thing as it saves jobs, allowed debts to be paid and the taxpayers get back more, due to the interest on the loans.

This is like Economics 101. I mean, bank executives know they need liquidity to refund deposits. At SVB the public debt holdings were like x4 what is normal. The bank was not managed well. It was plain irresponsible to hold so many government bonds, but hey... they were greedy!

Things are not looking good for the Biden family.

House Oversight chair questions $1.3 million in payments to Hunter Biden and relatives

"The Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee published a memo Thursday alleging that Hunter Biden and at least two relatives were paid $1.3 million from an associate of the president's son who had links to a Chinese energy company."
Old news. But wow. A whole 1.3M you say? And Hunter was making some coin off his family name? Not surprised, as nepotism is common.

Now do Jared and Ivanka, Don jr and Eric. And remember that Jared and Ivanka were in Trump's administration while he was prez.

Hunter is only in the news because Republicans can't do real governance, only rage investigations to stir up their MAGA base. They're the "do nothings" for the American people. I can't think of anything that they're done that is beneficial for me or my family in the past 40 years.

I was always better off, as far as work, under Republican presidencies. Democrats, such as Obama, are good for Unemployment Insurance extensions, which benefitted me. It would have been better if he had improved the job market, but at least I was able to have some time off, using the money that I had taken from my paycheck each week.

Anybody who has done anything wrong, whether Biden or Trump, should be punished, including members of the Trump family. There's been a lot of investigations of the Trump family, and not much to show for it. It's expected that he will be indicted for improperly using his finances, to pay hush money to a porn star. I predict that it will be another Trump win at best and perhaps a misdemeanor with a fine, at worst. It is certainly not tantamount to what Biden's crackhead son has allegedly done, but we'll just have to wait on that one.

The Fauci story is going to be the big news, soon. He needs to be prosecuted, and hopefully will be. Nearly seven million people died, the economies of the world will take years to recover, and children are traumatized and damaged, yet Fauci is still trying to convince us that he is the hero that some people still think he was. If there is anybody left that still believes him, about COVID-19-19 not being the result of a lab leak of a virus from his sloppy, badly run lab in Wuhan, China, I think that they are going to be in for a very rude awakening.

I see many people from New York despise Trump because of his past business dealings. I suppose @Luman would would know of this being he's from there. I guess I just judge him from his policies when he was President vs Biden. I thought he was a better choice than a career politician, regardless of his faults.

Trump was very helpful to New York City, which was struck first by COVID-19. He had the Army Corp of Engineers build a temporary hospital, and sent a Naval Hospital ship, and respirators.

I would rate Trump as an average to an above-average president. Biden is a complete trainwreck, the worst in well over 100 years.

NYC is very Democratic and the population was conditioned to hate Trump before he even took office. Many people were brainwashed this way. Anthony Fauci is being investigated for covering up what is very likely a lab leak, that killed 7 million people. Trump spent 135,000 dollars of his own money, perhaps not in ways that were 100% to the letter of the law, to hush a porn star. Which one is the person that they are interested in indicting? That's right, their "Orange Man". The evidence points to Fauci's Wuhan lab as having a leak which released COVID-19, but Trump is their main target, and Fauci not only gets a pass, but he is also going to receive the largest government pension in history, which is more than any president has ever made as a salary. His fortune increased by five million dollars during COVID-19, thanks to his drug business dealings, speaking fees, awards, etc.

It is quite shocking and depressing even to a cynic like me, that a significant percentage of people are more concerned with indicting Trump for unimportant nonsense than investigating the real criminal, Fauci.

You seem really stirred up. Maybe taking a break from the media will do you some good. Best wishes.

Here is an interesting article from the New England Journal of Medicine about Dr. Anthony Fauci published on March 9th "The Fauci Phenomenon".

In this episode of "Intention to Treat," some of the people who have worked closely with "America's Doctor," Anthony Fauci, offer insights into his character, values, accomplishments, and adventures over his decades of service at the NIH.

Long, but I enjoyed reading it as it gives you insight into the impact he has had on infectious diseases. You can also download the audio interview and listen if you wish.

Interestingly, I found this article when I Googled "Fauci killed 7 million", but I didn't find a reference to 7 million killed by Dr. Fauci.

Do you expect Fauci's wife and children to suggest, as many professionals now believe, that there is a very strong possibility that the lab he was funding in Wuhan had a leak and that he lied about COVID-19 having originated in a wet market in the same city as the lab?

Here is an excellent article that explains how Fauci established the narrative that the origins of COVID-19 could only have been caused by a natural occurrence.

Treason of the Science Journals

If you are still not convinced that Fauci is lying, there are other articles written by highly qualified professionals who are not under his influence, such as the one below.

The Case Is Building That COVID-19 Had a Lab Origin

Trump finally admits that he lost the 2020 election in a Truth Social post Saturday morning:

"THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!"

Small incremental baby steps towards the truth. But I'll take it.

The amazing thing about President Trump is that you when you hear he is going to be arrested, you have to ask the question, "for which crime?"

It will be the most beautiful arrest of all time. Many people are saying.

Hopefully, he'll be tried as an adult.

Come on. You can do better. Not convinced. You still need to back up your claim that Fauci is a killer.

How about an international team of virologists, genomicists, and evolutionary biologists that have finally found crucial data to help fill that knowledge gap to the origin of COVID-19.

Sink your teeth into actual data, then come back with your rebuttal.

Trump and the family grift now revealed in full detail. What a crook and even Barron was in on it!

Trump loves the constitution, NOT. He has violated the Emmouluments Clause in the Constitution hundreds of times. And I'm sure the House republicans are rushing to investigate it... oh wait.

Former President Trump and members of his family failed to disclose more than 100 gifts worth nearly $300,000 that they received from foreign governments during his presidency.

Friday's report from the Oversight Committee noted that the undisclosed gifts create concerns about "potential undue influence," highlighting that the Trump family failed to report $45,000 worth of gifts from Saudi Arabia, $47,000 worth of gifts from India and $3,400 worth of gifts from China.

The previously undisclosed gifts included, among other things, a "larger-than-life sized painting" of Trump from the president of El Salvador and a $3,755 gold golf driver from the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
