If Kamala wins I won't be happy about it, but I'd be afraid if I lived in Norway knowing she cannot deal with Putin. Most Europeans who support Kamala don't understand how unqualified and dangerous she is for the Presidency of the United States, and I hope they don't have to find out the hard way.
I'd prefer Harris, considering she would continue to support Ukraine and NATO.
Trump has stated that he would "stop the war within 24 hours" by getting Putin and Zelensky to talk to each other, which seems delusional at best.
Given Trump's track record on Ukraine, I wouldn't expect him to do much. Perhaps he would blackmail them some more.
However, the entire situation has been a huge wake-up call for Europe. More budget is being allocated toward maintaining and building up our defenses to become more self-reliant.
Moreover, countries such as the Netherlands and Germany have been integrating army units into single battalions with a unified command. The idea of a "European army" isn't that far-fetched anymore.
Depending on the outcome of the elections, the EU might further reduce its dependencies on the US, aside from the military sphere. The EU has already been investing heavily in key industries with this in mind.
I am very much pro-Europe, so I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing. However, I'd prefer to see a renewal of FDR's Good Neighbor Policy and maintain close ties with the US.
I am also in favor of something similar to the Marshall Plan, but for Ukraine. The EU should definitely take the lead on this, starting with granting Ukraine EU membership.
Ultimately, the EU will be fine no matter who wins the elections. If Trump wins, however, Europe will likely move in a different direction.
