2024 US Presidential Election

"A mother mourning her son who died of a fentanyl overdose is not garbage. A truck driver who can't afford rising diesel prices is not garbage. A father who wants to afford groceries is not garbage.

Kamala Harris and Joe Biden ought to be ashamed of themselves."

Are you aware that Puerto Rico has a huge problem with garbage and landfill shortages? That is what he (the comedian at the Trump rally) was joking about, not the Puerto Rican people.

People make jokes about rats and crime in NYC all the time. Is this offensive to anybody? No, it is not and I doubt that anybody would care if he joked in this way about the City.

Of course, people from both sides will criticize Harris because she needs to be flawless. Meanwhile, Trump can be lawless and no one (especially mainstream media) bats an eye. BS double standards.

That said, Kamala Harris has run an effective campaign in such a short amount of time. From burying Trump on the debate floor to picking a strong VP candidate and laying out her future policy-wise for this country.

And lastly, I'm a fan of her strategy decision to focus on courting independents, moderates, and any Republican who still have their brains intact and are not infected by the MAGA brain rot. It may very well pay off. Win or lose, her campaign team has played their hands correctly.

You need to stop being so triggered.

I mentioned previous times that Trump wants to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, which provides healthcare for 40 million Americans and additional healthcare protections for many millions more.

Now, they are saying they want to get rid of Affordable Health Care in the first 100 days if Trump wins. This would be a disaster. Trump would be a disaster.

Johnson vows health care overhaul if Republicans win in November elections

I'm surprised he didn't mention Social Security and Medicare because they want to cut those programs, too.

The video of Trump in the garbage truck is priceless.

I wonder if Biden was deliberately sabotaging Kamala's chances when he referred to half the country as "garbage." Perhaps he said it as a favor to Trump, to earn amnesty.

There is great potential in a Trump presidency. With Musk in his corner, young people are very interested. Currently, they can't afford housing, having a family, etc. This must change, and Harris is not the person who will do it.

And remember, Trump doesn't have any real plans for healthcare, only 'concepts of a plan."

Imagine scrapping a federal law that has been in place for 14+ years (which has benefited many Americans also) with nothing solid to replace it. What a joke.

Trump sues CBS for 10 billion dollars for election interference.

Because why not? Seems a bit desperate.

I wonder if CBS is going to counter-sue for 2.5 decillion dollars.
CBS has lawyers; let them handle it. The networks did everything they could to spread lies, vilify, ignore him, and support his opponents unconditionally. In October, Trump's total assets rose to over 8 billion dollars (American), so he's not doing it for the money. The dishonest tactics of the media and government failed to stop him. Bezos gets it, and the LA Times does, as well.

Would you kindly explain how "I never even THOUGHT about ending the Affordable Care Act" and the fact that he's been parroting "We're going to repeal and replace Obamacare" a million times adds up coherently in your mind? Are you unable to see the contradiction, or do you simply not care? Do you admire Trump for his ability to evaporate people's sanity, turning them into his little brain-dead sheep who will only trust him and distrust everyone else, even when he says things that are so obviously contradictory? Do you admire him for being a pathological liar and successfully so? Are these traits that you hold in high regard?

Missed you, my friend! I hope you're doing well in all aspects of your life.

I've stopped weighing in on this thread but still keep up with U.S. and international news. I often find myself perplexed or still forming my stance on some of the big issues, wars, and more. I'm still listening to my soul, funk, and smooth R&B, and I religiously tune in to Conan O'Brien and a few other comedians who bring me joy.

I hope everything is going well for you, and I'm glad you're back on the forum. Have a great day, and see you around. Welcome back!

That video is from seven years ago; it was not for this campaign. In his debate with Kamala, he made his current policy toward Obamacare clear, but she chose to ignore it.

"What we will do is we're looking at different plans," Trump said at September's debate, noting that he had "concepts of a plan."

"If we can come up with a plan that's going to cost our people, our population, less money and be better health care than Obamacare, then I would absolutely do it. But until then, I'd run it as good as it can be run," he said.

A quick reflection on recent history: remember the "Arab Spring" a few years back? That's how democracy operates in places like Tunisia and Afghanistan. It started when a fruit vendor, denied a permit renewal in an arrogant manner, tragically took his own life. The population, fed up, erupted in anger, and soon chaos ensued as people set buildings ablaze. That's democracy, Arab-style.

Unfortunately, such upheaval left people with little but ashes, forcing them to start from scratch. By contrast, what made the U.S. unique was that, historically, the runner-up would concede defeat, and their supporters would accept the outcome.

So, as we approach this election — whether it's Donald or Kamala who ends up losing — let's remember: don't burn the place down. Got it?

If Trump wins, there might be some riots, looting, and other violence but the country seems pretty calm despite the close polls.

Harris and Walz each have substantial track records of supporting those who riot.

I posted about this earlier in the thread. He said it during THIS election cycle.

Obamacare is even more popular than the last time Trump tried to kill it

Fact check: Trump falsely claims he never wanted to end the Affordable Care Act

And Speaker Johnson said a few days ago that it would be part of their first 100-day agenda to end the Affordable Care Act if Trump were to win the election. It would be a disaster for this country.

When Obama ran for president, he said, "You can keep your current plan." ACA took my private insurance away and replaced it with far more expensive, inferior plans, which I had been stuck with for years. I am no longer in ACA, but there is nothing wrong with Trump trying to find something better, especially for those like myself who got royally screwed after believing Obama and voting for him. In 2019, while campaigning, Kamala spoke about ending private health care and replacing it with Medicare for all. She changed her tune, and so did Trump.

So we have Obama, Trump, and Harris all contradicting themselves.

Trump conveniently hides the fact that his Republican-led Congress in 2017 came close to repealing and replacing ObamaCare. if it weren't for John McCain in the Senate voting NO back in 2017, the ACA would have been gutted entirely by now. Trump would have signed it into law, no question.

Has this liar also forgotten that he successfully eliminated the ACA's individual mandate in his tax cut for the rich bill?

The gig is up. He's fooling no one. He'll tear up the ACA if the opportunity presents itself.

The reality is that ACA has helped millions of Americans get insured. I know I've benefited a lot from it—I was able to stay on my parent's insurance until 26. It's a popular healthcare law whether you like it or not (@RunningMan linked the article).

Nice to hear from you again, DL, and good to be back before Election Day. I've been going over this thread to see what I miss. The same old same old here :) Good posts from you and others, too, though.

Honestly, I wish I could say things have improved since I was last here, but not much has changed (hardly much of a social life). I'm worn down and frustrated by this condition often, but I'm doing my best to manage. Thanks for your kind words. That's great to hear you're doing good in life. I still hope to get there at some point.

Trump wants to pardon the January 6 insurrectionists he sent to attack Congress to stop them from certifying the election he lost.

You're insane.
Trump did not send anybody to "attack" Congress. If he had, he would be in prison.

Kamala set up a bail fund for the George Floyd rioters in 2020 and one of those arrested and bailed out thanks to her, later committed murder. Walz was even worse, as Governor of Minnesota during these riots.

You have no idea what is going on in this country. Could you imagine living in an apartment complex and being kicked out by armed criminals from Venezuela, who were brought into the country by the current presidential administration? Just think about that, before you call somebody who lives here, "insane."

Trump would win in a fair election but is probably going to lose because the election is rigged by those currently in power. We hear and see news reports from areas where they have set up the election process to cause Trump to lose votes to Kamala, and the Democrat judges will not stop them.

It did happen. The barbarism and crime that Biden and Harris have unleashed in this country by illegal aliens they allowed in is widespread.

The denials in Aurora have been addressed and investigations revised. Perkins Coie is a leading law firm for business. See the Denver Gazette, Sep 10, 2024:
  • Venezuelan gang demanded 50% of all rent at Aurora complex, law firm says
Through violence and intimidation, a Venezuelan gang took over the Whispering Pines apartment complex in Aurora and sought to collect up to half of the rent from leaseholders, drying up collections for the landlord, according to a law firm's investigation.

At the behest of a lender, the international law firm Perkins Coie investigated the alleged criminal activities at Whispering Pines apartments, a 54-unit complex in Aurora, and outlined an operation that included establishing a "lower-level" presence last year, which then escalated into violence and intimidation, the apparent goal of which was to turn the complex into a steady source of income for the gang.

The law firm said once the gang was entrenched at the complex, it used the units for illegal activities, including the prostitution of minors.[/I]

City officials have since walked back their initial claims.

"The city received the letter and immediately included it in its ongoing investigative work. APD has been and continues to aggressively investigate and pursue any criminal activity reported on or related to the properties owned by CBZ Management," Michael Brannen, a city spokesperson, said in a statement.

The information in the letter, Brannen said, underscored why the Aurora Police Department formed a special task force to investigation violent crimes against immigrants.

"While we are not able to share details and information that could compromise an active investigation, we want to ensure the public that any presence of criminal activity, including gang activity, will not be tolerated. APD continues to identify criminals and make arrests," Brannen said.
