Chit Chat and All That...

I find it fascinating that some people don't feel sexual attraction to others.
A miserable life of discomfort and pain; I can live with.

A miserable life of discomfort, pain and no booba; that's when I'm calling it a day.
I really miss that weirdo
Same.

Hope he's read the positive news.

Well kids, here we sit in Oregon. Both myself and herself have caught the worst damn colds you could get. Then to find out flights home have been cancelled. At least we are here to help. Brother and I will go to finish cleaning out his daughter's apartment this morning. I sure wish I could reach through this phone and get a big human hug.

That's so hard to do. It must be a great comfort to your brother to have you there with him so won't have to face this challenge on his own.
I sure wish I could reach through this phone and get a big human hug.
I think everybody here who has read about your niece's passing is grieving with you. I wish I could offer you a real hug but since we are an ocean apart all I can do is let you know that I'm thinking about you and offer a big virtual one.

Lots of love and positive energy and you and Mrs @Elmer B Fuddled, get well soon!

You said it there, E - being there to help. It's all we can do in these situations, and I'm sure it means a heck of a lot to your brother. Sending you a hug.

I'm a booba guy myself. Love all sizes though, no discrimination. But we all know how you like 'em, those posts of yours in that Japanese/cartoon thread are quite telling...

lol!

Listen here. My only preference for melons, is that they be organic and silicone free.

Apart from that, we're agreed, all melons are good melons.

Oh btw, have you seen Jujutsu Kaisen? People are begging me to see it.
I just looked at this the other day. It looks very good (like Naruto but with more of a horror element).

I'd be more inclined to read the comic book than give into the temptation of watching the cartoon though, as my experience of the two mediums is that the comics the cartoons are based off of, always tend to be more comprehensive and deeper in story and length.

What I currently want to do, is get something like a Kindle (e-reader) specifically for comic books, and start using that for my mornings, lunch breaks and journeys home, from/at college.

So let me know if you find any products or websites that might be good for that (now or in future).

I don't know the differences between the Green Hornet, The Green Lantern, or the Green Arrow.

Is silicon bad or what? I don't know much about melons btw.
No, silicon is great @Joeseph Stope.

Without it you wouldn't be able to ask me this question and I wouldn't be able to answer it: because no microprocessor = no internet = no tinnitus forum.

Silicone is also great and has some brilliant applications. But put it in a melon, and what you've done is ruin a perfectly good melon.

That's just my opinion btw, and if you or anyone else likes silicone in your melons or in your carrots for that matter, then that's fine, and I'm sure you will find plenty of fruit and vegetables that will cater to that preference.

FELIZ NAVIDAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was watching old videos and found this gem. Unfortunately it's in Spanish, so only for the benefit of the Spanish-speaking members of the forum:

On top of the excellent humour, there's also a "reasonable likeness" with someone - sadly - famous today:

Of course in these special days we also have to remember... HER:

There are so many scare stories doing the rounds about doctoring the food these days.

An example of this that I heard recently is that it's possible (or often?) that fish will be injected with some chemical to bulk it up... And I had thought that fish was healthy.

But silicon is pretty low on the periodic table and is a very common element. I would have thought that as an additive it wouldn't do much harm? But I prefer my food like nature intended it.

Farmed fish, salmon and trout are chemically fed to bulk up and make the flesh that orange colour. It's deadly to human consumption.

@Damocles, you have really been into the Christmas spirit lately
Full disclosure: I cannot resist Tinnitus Talk between the months of October and January.

October = Halloween themed posts.
November = Barricaded in my soundproof bedroom themed posts.
December = Christmas themed posts.
December 31st = Have reinforced the barricade in my soundproof bedroom themed posts.

Already looking forward to doing it all again next year.
and so I dedicate this movie to you. A Christmas Story (1983)
Well this has knocked me for six. A Christmas movie I have never heard of... (and I have Sony Movies Christmas!).

I will be adding this to my list of Christmas movies to watch.
I know schoolwork has been really intense for you lately. I'm wishing you all the best on your studies and I hope you succeed. Seeing tinnitus sufferers achieving their goals in life especially when this condition can so easily immobilize people and put a big hold on their ambitions will always be big win for me. Hoping you'll have a nice small break from school soon, so you can enjoy the holidays. Rooting for you!
Thank you @ZFire. The trajectory of the University of Michigan thread has really uplifted me this month, but (obviously) we still have a lot farther to go in our surmounting of this illness. My hope is that wherever my progression (permitting the avoidance of further decline) takes me, it contributes in some small way to that surmounting.

Additionally, I'd like to say the same to you, but you have already done so well this year with your recovery/stabilisation and resumption of work that I guess it only leaves room for me to say:

1) fingers crossed you get a promotion this new year (maybe to recruitment/hiring/employee relations).

and

2) fingers crossed that Toby gets some new pyjamas this new year.

@Damocles, how have you soundproofed your bedroom?
Okay no, "soundproofed bedroom" was a slight exaggeration.

I was thinking more of some other people's posts here when I wrote that.

I've got double glazed windows and sealed up vents, but the room could undoubtedly be further sound dampened.

I used to have thick carpet (which contributed), but hated how dirty it got. So now I have laminate (terrible for sound absorption).

If my hyperacusis was still in the severe range however: I'd probably get carpet again and put sound absorbing panels on all my walls.

As it stands it's not bad though. I'd give the room's SNR rating a 7/10 (currently).

Happy Christmas to all who celebrate it. I hope Santa had a big erm... sack full for you all.

May 2023 be joyful and merry and all that bolloxs :D :D

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and improvements in our tinnitus in the new year.

@Elmer B Fuddled, I haven't been on in a while. I am so sorry to hear of your niece's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Thanks. It's not been a very pleasant year for any of us. I just received an email from my brother. With the loss of his daughter and the wife with Alzheimer's, he's not doing well. Then in the email this morning he said he found a big growth on his testicle. It's not a cyst, the doctor tells him. More tests due. Damn what else can go wrong. Why the good people?
