Chit Chat and All That...

Nice one, Elmer. Best wishes for 2023, and peace to you and the missus (and everyone here).
Now if we could just find a small but significant way to silence this noise in our heads. Hug em.

As I sit here this morning having a coffee and feeding Groucho, I think of my father and all the years he worked underground in the silver mines in North Idaho. Back then they didn't know ear protection and he wound up with tinnitus although that word wasn't in anyone's vocabulary. He did say his ears sounded like a freight train running through his head. While being with my brother after his loss, we were talking about my tinnitus going on a spike. He then said he has tinnitus as well; he gets a ringing which subsides to the sound of the ocean crashing against rocks or such. He said it started after he had a serious bout with the flu, when his ears became plugged up and he couldn't breathe properly. Hmmm, sounds familiar.

@aura, OK, while sitting in the undisclosed airport, I noticed this young lady pushing a cleaning cart up and down the hallway. But not cleaning a damn thing. As I sat watching, I realised, I know that lady, she's not cleaning, more like looking for a lone man or men waiting for a flight. So I got up and walked towards her and her "cleaning cart" which had not even a spray bottle hanging from it, nor a brush of sorts. Strolling on past I got a good look, yep, I was right, here's the cleaning lady, but where's her cohorts that's always tagging along?

Thanks. It's not been a very pleasant year for any of us. I just received an email from my brother. With the loss of his daughter and the wife with Alzheimer's, he's not doing well. Then in the email this morning he said he found a big growth on his testicle. It's not a cyst, the doctor tells him. More tests due. Damn what else can go wrong. Why the good people?
The Mrs and myself would like to wish everyone a good 2023 and may all of you find peace.
@Elmer B Fuddled, thank you, best of luck with your family. I wish your brother the best and that maybe it's just a benign tumor of some kind!

:D :p

The funniest quote you wrote a while back.

"I told my tinnitus to go fuck itself & I don't care."
Yes I remember, @bobvann.

In said quote, I was parodying a certain type of tinnitus "sufferer" we are every so often subjected to on here.

I like to call them "tinnitus experiencers" :headphone:, "tinnitrolls" :troll:, or just: Turkeys Voting for Christmas :chicken:.

Luckily (whatever we choose to call them), neither me, nor you, nor anyone else I hold in high regard, are of this type, and for this I am thankful. (y)

Yeah being simply positive is going to repair damaged nerves & stereocilia, righhhht :meh:

Poor @Jerad, it must be all that distorted thinking that's keeping him from getting better :joyful:

My other favourite quote by @AnthonyMcDonald: "Jasterbitch"

Happy belated New Year tinnitus comrades/allies/soldiers in arms/bussom buddies/ole chums and so on and so on.

How did that happen?
I woke up one morning and sat down at a table for some breakfast, I was looking down at my phone and happened to cough a couple of times. When I looked back up, I noticed an opaque "curtain" in my field of vision in the left eye. Initially I thought it was my contact lens that had slightly folded or creased, but when I took it out nothing changed.

I started googling what it could be and found out later that afternoon in the ER that I had detached my retina. Had surgery about a week later and luckily I made a full recovery at about 8 months.

I was reading about bicycles on another blog and found a link to this one... it's interesting and the last article is about Spain:

https://cyclingcindy.com/2023/01/04/holiday-malaga/

@El BUZZ, she complains about noise in Málaga but I think the noisiest city in Spain has to be Barcelona... so many motorbikes...

This is a bit about Málaga, from that blog above. It seems she's not that happy on vacation:

"Millions of dogs in a city peeing against buildings, pooping on pavements. The constant noise, adding sore ears from earplug overuse. The zombie alike state of mind, too much input, too shallow sleeps. Too late to bed, too late rising. All the drunkards, homeless and insane are too concentrated, too gross, too smelly, just as the perfumed ones are. The sound of high heels, below on the pavement and a floor above. A little peak preview into mayhem, into a fairground illusion it is for me. But not for the inhabitants of this city, as it is their life."

There are pictures too... a not very beautiful side of the city.. a bit of everything.. and an odd complain about "not being able to touch vegetables at supermarkets".. that's super odd to read, as in Spain you can choose what you buy and of course you can touch it haha

Well getting a good night's sleep helps. What's that got to do with Spinach? Well maybe it's the vitamin C -- the greens you know. You won't get to heaven unless you eat up all your greens. In my case it was Brussels sprouts. Who knows? Maybe my system was lacking proper vitamins...

As expected, my sleep pattern returned to normal in two or three days, the Brussels sprouts effect was only temporary.

My tinnitus of course was permanent and still is.

Thanks @Damocles. I suppose my apology was about bringing my 'kill me now' tinnitus into a fun and hopefully, distracting thread. Felt like I brought everyone back to this shit reality.
No need to apologise, I'm sure any "distracting" thread doesn't fully distract us anyway. We all have a little rant on here, it's cool and rant away. Big hugs to you tpj.
