Novak wins the Australian Open. Somewhat makes up for the embarrassing debacle of last year. Yet, there are still some people who thought he should have never been allowed into the country to play. :dunno:

I've heard a similar story of how two workers drowned after falling into a vat of whiskey. They had to clamber out twice to go to the toilet to relieve themselves during the sad incident.

Walking round this incredible site reminded me that in the old days, engineers defined problems, before going on to solve them. Any guesses what and where this 'thing' is?

New video shows the terrifying moment alligator lunges at woman | Daily Mail Online
New video shows the terrifying moment an alligator lunged at a woman walking her dog by a lake in her Florida community, dragging her to her death.

The horrifying nightmare captured on video obtained by Inside Edition unfolded in front of a neighbor who frantically called 911 as she tried to help the woman. But it was too late.

Gloria Serge, 85, died after she was mauled to death by the 10-foot gator when she tried to rescue her beloved dog, Trooper, from the reptile's clutches on Monday.

@Damocles, I live in Louisiana and a few years back after hurricane Ida, an alligator ate an older man. Everything was flooded and he walked through the water to get something out of his shed, well, a gator was in there and attacked him. His wife saw the whole thing happen. Somehow they managed to get him back on the stairs of their porch. The wife then took a boat to try and find help but when she returned, he was no longer there. The gator went up on the stairs, grabbed him and dragged him back into the waters to eat him. They later captured the gator and found his remains in it.

Here's another crazy encounter in Florida I remember. Can you name any other place where you can find an alligator in your kitchen and then go outside and find a crackhead singing amazing grace in the sewers?

When your car service is scheduled for 10:30 in the morning and when you arrive, they tell you we are 2 mechanics short so your car should be done late afternoon and you find yourself staring at things in a hardware shop.

That looks absolutely delicious! I used to have a neighbour from Illinois and he'd make cornbread like that, yummmmm, I can smell yours through the screen :)
It's a very simple old old recipe handed down to my mum. I have it now. The paper it was written on has yellowed with butter stains and flour drippings. But it's readable.

Old mum or gran recipes are the always best kind of recipes!

If you're willing to share it, I'd love to give it a try...
