Chit Chat and All That...

Well, y'know me @tpj, always enjoyed forming part of the rear guard :D
Ahh, @UKBloke, you're really... cracking me up here...

How was your xmas? Hope you had a merry and relatively quiet one :beeranimation:
Ta for asking. My tinnitus was screaming (as usual) but the house was nice and quiet, so it wasn't too bad. Hope you enjoyed your day.

Touché @tpj, touché :D

Had a good day too, thanks, despite the ever-present screeching and sensitivity. I think the worst of it was brought on by a long drive home to see the folks, but always worth it to spend a bit of time with my ole mum.

Hi E, how you doing? I'm still here, been dipping in and out. Got quite a bit going on and trying to keep busy and distracted. How's that log cabin build going?
I am OK. I went through a week of high-pitched ringing in the right ear. It has finally settled to a less driving-you-insane ring.

I was down to check on the logs and the cabin. It all looks good. Biggest concern was the logs on the deck would start to curve from not being turned over. All is freezing here in the below zero.

@Daniel Lion, just sitting here doing what I do best on a cold windy morning - absolutely nothing.

So I thought I would see how you are doing. I hope all is well with the family.

Elmer
Elmer, I am doing just fine, touch wood. Sculpting everyday and taking care of the family. I shall post pictures soon, promise.

When you mentioned your wife's brother passing, I wanted to say I have lost so many loved ones the last few years and held them as they passed on. There are also a crop of babies and little kids around so the cycle of life is right there.

I can see I am next, we are next, approaching the other side, so it is best to make the best of everyday and do our best to enjoy things and be light-hearted. Easier said than done, but worth pursuing.

Thanks for checking up on me big brother. I hope our friends @Jazzer, @OnceUponaTime, @aura, and the rest of the gang are doing well.

Stay well my friend, and see you soon.

Good evening folks.

I've had tinnitus for over 40 years.

In 2017 I had to walk away from my successful jazz career, which was a scenario I loved being an active part of. In that 40 years, no treatment came along that could reduce the experience of tinnitus by one solitary decibel. Good job I didn't hold my breath for a cure.

But there was just one positive for me.

Sylvia, my beautiful wife, who had no tinnitus, but was an incredibly wise lady, with a diploma in clinical hypnotherapy, hypnotised me on a recording, where she suggested that, even if my tinnitus did not reduce, I would discover that its impact on my awareness and my concentration would reduce, that I would notice it less and less, and that it would bother me very little as it appeared to 'fade into the background.'

She effectively 'gave me permission to believe that my condition WOULD improve.'

On a personal note - how I miss that beautiful woman.

Best wishes folks,
Dave

My son Gabe has an ear infection. My PTSD is kicking into overdrive. Fuckkk. I want him better asap.

I will post when he is in the clear.
Does your doctor put him on Amoxicillin or some other antibiotic? I suppose he may have fluid in his ear. I hope his ear infection clears up soon. I always think of tinnitus now when someone mentions an ear infection. I was put on Amoxicillin when I had my airplane barotrauma many years ago.

The early morning routine.

It's 6:00 am, just starting to break daylight.

Now, cats are routine-oriented creatures. So, here comes the cat, "get up hooman, I need to get outdoors to pee."

Hooman gets up and lets the cat out. Ten minutes later, the cat is in the kitchen window looking in. "Let me in, hooman. I'm getting hungry."

Hooman lets the cat in. Cat eats. "Let me out, I has to hunt for meeses."

Hooman lets the cat out, makes a cup of coffee, and turns to look; the cat is in the window again. "No meeses, let me in damnit."

Hooman lets the cat in again, who yowls for more food. Hooman feeds the cat, and the coffee has gone cold.

That's the cat who owns the house. Hoomans are just cat slaves.

@UKBloke, the Mrs and myself stopped in an antique shop last Saturday. We came across this coffee grinder; quite fancy for such a grinder. You ever see one like it in your travels?

Very nice looking piece of vintage kit. The closest I've ever seen to something similar is in the Algerian coffee shops in London but most of those were just for show and unused. Probably too much effort to knock the stuff out in bulk. A nice addition for the home kitchen though. Enjoy!

Out for a walk this morning. Mother has woken from her winter sleep.

OK, @UKBloke, seeing how I put a picture of you up (it was only in humour), I figured I should show a picture of myself in my younger days.
