Do you know where the Celtic knot originates from? Most don't know what the Celtic knot is, other than a knot. So I will explain, the knot or knitting technique originates from the Arran Island off the coast of Ireland. Thousand years ago when the island had people living on there, which there is people still there. The men were most all fishermen, fishing in the sea. They wore heavy knitted jumpers, or sweater as you call them. Each wife of these men knitted their husbands a type of individual design in the jumper known as the Celtic knot, no 2 were alike. The reason for doing this was because if they were lost at sea or died the wife could identify her lost husband by this knot. Through the years this knot has become a big tourist purchasing product, sadly the origin has been forgotten.
