Chit Chat and All That...

@Jazzer that is so funny about the dust.

Still gonna complain about this gloomy yuck weather here. I really need some sunshine so we may pack up the truck and drive about three hours to the desert area where it is dry and sunny and a bit hot.

I just feel rather depressed. waaa waaa where is the wabulance?

We are pretty close to Lake Ontario, Jcb. It's about a 15 minute drive at the very most. Still cloudy on this Father's Day Sunday, all of the golf courses are suffering for sure, they are saturated.

Well hopefully it won't affect your area, poor golf courses an all the middle aged men wanting to golf away their frustrations :ROFL:

The sun has been out for more than 20 minutes, should I chance it and take the dog for a walk or will I get absolutely drenched yet again???? So many questions and possible outcomes.

Yes I did chance it and yes I got absolutely drenched, stupidly only put on a hoodie as it was pretty warm but nope looked like a drowned rat

Would highly recommend a show called Killing Eve it's so good, darkly funny and Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer are amazing in it. It's a tad violent if that's not your thing.

Finished the 1st season in about 5 days, only 8 episodes in the 1 st season.

We aren't bothered by the the flooding where we live, thankfully. Today it is raining once again and tonight promises some thunderstorm activity. Yay! Great for masking my tinnitus, lol!:rockingbanana:

That's good then no need to worry about that :D hopefully wake up feeling somewhat refreshed and ready to meet these noises with full armour on and say f*@#k you haha

I am having to think about a hearing aid, although I'm still not convinced it will help. Look what I found, and there are many more that are just as nice.

If I decide to go ahead with an aid, this would help with the "hearing aids look so bad" part.

I know this wasn't addressed to me but is your hearing that bad now?

Ps I think they look cool Emma, tbh I wouldn't be bothered what it looked like as long as it helped but I do get why people get self conscious. Some of the hearing aids are tiny now, but I do think pimping them out like that is really cool.

Just random pics on the internet, you know me easily amused :D

I do know you, Jcb, you always make me and the rest of us "chuckle" with your amusing antics.

I am glad you chimed in on the hearing aid photo, any and all comments are welcomed. My hearing was discovered to be far less than optimal, especially in the left ear, the one that rings non-stop.:cautious: A hearing aid was suggested at the beginning, but only if I felt that I was missing out on sounds, etc. I was also told to wait it out some and see how things progressed. My whistle has gotten louder, unfortunately, so I will go back to the audiologist in the early Fall and discuss it all again.

It must be a girl thing when it comes to hearing aids and how they look, I admit to having a vain streak, lol.

Yeah I always wonder about hearing aids and with sounds amplified will it affect tinnitus in the long run?
That being said I know I've read a few pieces on here were they have helped with their tinnitus. One of my former work colleague who I found out had tinnitus after I mentioned it to her has hearing aids and she said it helped a lot with the volume of her noises. I'm not sure wether it's habituation or not with her but I'd thought mention it.

Also read were they didn't help at all so I don't know haha do they do a trial basis for a month or so and see if it helps?

Ps I'm the vainest of them all haha or I used to be anyway  nothing wrong with taking pride in your appearance

Like with most gadgets, aids vary and depends on your preference such as how it feels, sounds etc. I preferred the simple analogs (obsolete) over digital. The latter are more controlled by audiology and easily breaks apart, alike today's phones, tvs etc . Unfortunately, I don't think there are places that provide trials, which was one of my complaints - you're stuck with the given model. Of course you'll be informed to return as much as needed  for fine-tuning adjustments as it requires their equipment... and this may or may not be frustrating which all really comes down to experience and competence.

Aids can help mask T for many, esp. those with mild T e.g. "hiss" type. I developed H. from too loud digital aids as they lacked volume control then, and the medical field not up to par to understanding this condition (still don't). Much alike telling those with H. to learn to desensitize to loud sounds wearing earbuds. In that case, perhaps set at low volume may help. You guys have T/H knowledge (which I didn't have), when you go get an aid. @emmalee - earring idea is neat... sticky fingers to this, than ripping earlobe!

My day today....
One year since my niece passed away from cancer.
You'd think tinnitus would be considerate and step back and give me a break... um, not!
Ugh....
I miss her.

I think some places do offer a trail basis now, not sure which ones do? I still wonder is they can damage your hearing in the long run? Emma will like your input, thanks :)

Do you still have H?

This picture is just.... wow...... so serene and beautiful.[/QUOTE]
It was a special vacation for sure.

Would you believe that picture was just taken with my camera phone - an LG G6!

Ok that's a good camera phone that is haha

I bet it was a lovely vacation :) That picture fills me with a smile, such a beautiful shot it captures so much, the different colours of the sea, the contrast of the sky and sun and your daughters shadow and hair just amazing.

Trial/sampling would be good, but locating one is another consuming task. Digital aids these days finally enable the consumer some volume control. Some have remote controls and all that (more for the landfill). I believe some are now adjustable by phone app. Which in some ways is ridiculous, since you have to scramble looking for the phone during unexpected excruciating loud sounds? Other option is to yank it out.

Ummm, what else?... oh, they made sure the aids start beeping 3x at short intervals when it near 1/2 -3/4th drainage, which is extremely annoying when you're in the middle of something. Great benefit for the battery co. too (batteries in prior simpler analog aids would just gradually die out like a dimming flashlight, providing you the control when to change it).

I feel a benefit of an aid(s) for T/H is that many public places have a built in loop-system (e.g. theatre, government buildings etc). A useful strategy would be to earplug other ear and change the aid- setting in "bad" ear allowing in only the clarity or voice of speaker (while cutting out rest of annoying environmental sounds) Have it set at the volume you want. Makes sense?

Yes, I think aids can damage hearing if you're unable to control to reduce volume. The latter was one of the factors which created my T/H. :(

Oh no that's awful mate, something that's meant to enhance your life hurts you like that, so sorry to hear that.

Yes it makes sense, I'm not actually the one who was thinking about getting hearing aids it was Emma but thanks for the info nonetheless my friend it's been informative :)
