Chit Chat and All That...

What projects are you working on?

Putting up new shelving above the pantry deep freeze. Have to brave home depot to get some supplies tomorrow. Today, I started redoing the soffit on the front portch. Pretty sure at some point I'm gonna have to reshingle the roof. The other side got done in 2016 and I wanted to do it then.:grumpy: Alas, this side has valleys. I hate shingling valleys.

And more endless projects. Finish up replacing a door not to long ago. Never ending projects. :blackeye:

My personal project I want to get to is to build this last "false shelf" for my YA and younger bookshelves.:) I use to make these "false shelves" out of card board to double stack my books. So that instead of one row on one shelf, I'd get two rows on one shelf It's the last cardboard one I need to do. I poached wood from this place I know that tosses the good stuff:cautious:. Took for ever to get enough for the project. I keep having nightmares that my current false shelf will collapse one night while I'm at my computer and take me out. I know I should have made it first when I built them last year in the spring for my other YA shelves, but . . . it was daunting. Then life kept putting it off for me. Every time I resort that shelf I have to hold it up and put the front books on before loading up the top!

That sounds like fun! :D

I just bought two used shelves off of Craigslist. I just don't have the time nor expertise to do projects like that, though I wish I did.

Saw this online and had to share.:ROFL::nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting::wideyed:

If my house smells like Lysol
That's because I sprayed the disinfectant everywhere
Nothing brings out OCD like a tiny dose of germs

If my house smells like Lysol
That's because I just used the cleaner everywhere
Especially on the door handles – his fever went up, you know
Nothing brings out OCD like a growing dose of germs

If my house smells like Lysol
That's because I didn't think the disinfectant and cleaner were enough
So I added in the wipes – they really are useful
And then I wiped everything I could find
Nothing brings out OCD like germs that are everywhere

If my house smells like Lysol
That's because I got the floor cleaner
And then I thought, since I'm already at the store, might as well
Get some spongers, and more paper towels,
And hand sanitizer, and some toilet disinfectant, gloves, you know
Nothing brings out the OCD like a germ I think I may have seen

If my house smells like Lysol
That's because I bought the heavy duty concentration
I feel like if we're going for it, we might as well go all in
So I just poured it on the floor and used my body to spread it
And then I sprayed my shower down, before I washed off the germs
And afterwards of course – don't want those pesky germs hanging around
Nothing brings out the OCD like germs whose spread we could stop

If your child smells like Lysol
That's because I sprayed her with it
But only a little on her clothes
I just wanted to make sure she didn't infect herself
From herself – you know, with the germs she already has
Reinfection is a very common and dangerous thing
There should be more articles written about it
Nothing brings out the OCD like germs that are here and may come back

If your child smells like Lysol
That's because I sprayed her clothes again
Because I saw her touch her face
And then her coat – and we all know how that goes (pls. see above)
We couldn't have her brush against a surface, lest a germ land on it
And then we brush on it, and somehow manage to lick that part
Of our arm, even though it's hard to reach – I knew you'd understand
Nothing brings out the OCD like a germ that might have made you crazy

See one shelf, two book stacked. That's why for the longest time I wanted massmarket paperbacks only.

@OnceUponaTime My sister's panic is spreading. She can't find anything in the stores. I'm so happy I don't live in the big cities! It's not just a toilet paper crisis anymore. Her son asked for homemade cookies today, but you can't buy flour.

Your set up is so much neater than mine! :arghh:

Really nice.
Here's my prose shelf, which I keep in my (utterly filthy) closet. I keep saying that I'll clean one of these days, but it never happens.

:X3: Actually this pic was from 2010 and it was just my Epic/High fantasy shelf. Now I"m a way huger setup. I still tried to keep my adult books mass market, but I caved a bit for books I just had to have and it was cheaper to get whatever format I could get in thrift stores. I now have 5 shelves like that one and 4 various other ones crammed in. My room is paved with books. Plus, I cram them wherever. And I need to figure out where to shelve more poor manga collection, which is in boxes.

Ah, yours is so nice! The book case has such character!! Ah, a Stephen King fan! Last week there were some great copies of his Dark Tower books and Dr. Sleep at the thriftstore.

Yeah. King is....the king, I guess, lol.

I liked the first Dark Tower book, but didn't care for any of the other ones. They just didn't speak to me, I guess.

And Doctor Sleep is good, but it's one of the rare instances where the movie is so much better in my opinon. It's a shame it made so little money at the box office.

I'm glad you like my shelf :p

I loved the Doctor Sleep movie! Ah, I thought so too! Honestly I"m not a huge King fan. I don't care for how he writes women most of the time, and other things . . . It and other things . . . The Dark Tower first book, gunslinger?, was okay. King just doesn't write how I like to read my fantasy.

I love the man though. I love for his lectures and interviews. Especially when he was talking about fifty shades!

He had his wife proofread Carrie because he wasn't sure to write women correctly. Why he didn't continue that line of thought afterwards, I have no idea.

And as for that scene in It... I think he was pretty deep into the his coke problem at the time and his editor didn't want to question him. (He was so strung out that he has no memory of writing Cujo.)

I watched his movies a whole bunch as a kid, so I guess I'm attached to him. He certainly seems like a nice enough guy.

Well that explains Cujo! No body escaped the coke then.

Yeah, his movies were always rerunning when I was a kid.

I am so sorry! YOu finally were able to again. :huganimation:

Speaking of hurting fingers. My right middle finger is so touchy. To many prepetive uses now the nerves zing. Like if I hit the nerves just right. :meh:

I know!!!
Hey great bookshelf you have there. That's a great idea, doubling the shelf like that!

Just crazy.
I'm 60 miles north of NYC and now it is starting to affect us.
Supermarkets are low in some essentials. Forget about TP!
No ice-cream!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

Interestingly, I bought flour because I like making homemade bread. :giggle:

Ah, thanks. I needed to figure out how to save on space early on. Been collecting books since Junior high!

Oh, yeah. It's pretty crazy. We hit up our Sam's Club for extra cat litter and the guy that knows us saved us a few packs of toilet paper. I called my sister if she wanted them and she said yes. Then her husband comes home later and tells her they have to have "x brand and this kind of it" :meh::meh::meh: Idiot. So I"m out. They still have to have special everything.

Speaking of affect. I wanted to buy another bag of egg layer crumble for the ladies (my chickens). They're really laying and I like to stay 1 to 2 bags a head of their needs. Shipments aren't coming in! Should be here Sunday I hope. *sighs*

Let alone medicated starter feed for babies. I think I might have to hold of finding a sperm doner until this whole thing calms down. I wanted this year to be baby chic year, I was gonna find a nice rooster to make babies with either my lavender silkie or buff silkie.

Anyone hear from @emmalee recently, such as in a PM?

I see that She hasn't posted in a while and in addition, has deleted her avatar. I'm just hoping that She's OK and just took a break from the forum.

Nothing on my end, sorry. I hope she's okay as well. She's probably just busy, and is taking a break from this place.

I was about to ask the same about you, Jim!
How are you?

Hope @emmalee, @Jcb and @Labyrinthine are all doing well.

I hope everything is alright with everybody that has taken a break from Tinnitus Talk. That was very observant of you Jim, emmalee's avatar has gone amiss, let's hope that was a mistake.

I have posted much lately as I have been busy with ill elderly family members, one has pneumonia, not caused by the corona virus, however they are severely compromised, so it is an extremely worrying time.

I am not actively nursing at present, but I am trying as much as I can to assist those in need. I look after some elderly people in my neighborhood and a friend who has a disability and who is on her own.

The panic buying has not helped the shopping for others, it is difficult with restrictions on most items. They have also ceased all home deliveries at present, so that made matters worse for those who really need it. The world all over is suffering at present and it looks like things will only get worse over the coming months.

My daughter in law is a Nurse and has been extremely busy, I am fortunate to live so close to her that I can babysit my grandchildren so she can continue to work. My friends are all Nurses and are already working additional hours during this troubling time. I read your message Jim thanking all the nurses and Doctors on the front line, I am sure they would appreciate that message.

I hope everyone continues to stay safe and well during this difficult time :huganimation:
