[Danny Boy Memorial Fund] In Loving Memory of Danny Boy

Would he like to promote Tinnitus Talk? Have a chat with Markku or maybe he could do a blog for Tinnitus Hub...
Or perhaps he could help publicize the fundraiser/raise awareness of this terrible affliction?

Already asked him to share it that's why I got in touch. I spent this morning messaging people with a lot of reach. I'll continue doing this because we're going to smash our goals.

Thank you again for all that you are doing Ed!!

This is why the government needs to step in and fund and fast track the tinnitus cures. Susan Shore's device has been shown to be effective yet it isn't out yet.

WHY????? All of these people dragging their ass on development of this technology are just prolonging people's suffering. They are wasting tax dollars on stupid crap like this:

It's time for this to change.

I really have to keep biting my tongue about this useless fundraiser (sorry @Ed209)!

But I agree with you @JohnAdams!
Smarter thing would be to update Susan Shore on another life lost to tinnitus while her team is dragging on and milking the funds!
The longer the better.... there are jobs to be kept and bills to be paid!
Let's not play stupid here!

RIP Danny Boy, forever in my thoughts!

I'm so overwhelmed by the donations so far in such a short time.
A very big thank you...

@Greg Sacramento,

If you click on Danny Boy's picture with the donation target it will bring you on to the GoFundMe giving page and you should be able to donate.

Give it a try and let me know if it worked for you.

Do you think @Danny Boy would have felt the fundraiser is useless? What does @Ed209 think?

Danny approved the BTA.

I fail to see how funding research can be seen as a bad thing? I can't believe we're even questioning this to be honest. The money is going to be allocated to research and nothing else. Sometimes all it takes is a spark, a new idea, a fresh perspective. The money we raise will absolutely make a difference and could go on to achieve something quite substantial. Doing nothing will achieve exactly that, nothing.

Anyway, let's not digress. The momentum we have achieved so far is quite remarkable and is something to be very proud about. Let's continue forwards and be united.

Danny had problems with tinnitus, yes. And even bigger problems in his personal life.

But probably the biggest problem he had was his visual snow syndrome. It tormented him far more than his tinnitus. And he got his VS from Trobalt which he took for his tinnitus... And I also got VS from Trobalt and that's how I know about it. Me and Danny talked pretty often on Messenger and on VS groups on FB.

If you think that tinnitus haven't got recognition, then it's world known compared to VS which almost nobody knows anything about, even doctors.

RIP Danny ❤️

Anyone here who's familiar with tinnitus KNOWS that this fundraiser WILL NOT change anything!

FACT!

Danny had seen many gone before him and we will see many more yet to go!

Nothing changed, nothing changes!

This is simply not the right way to change anything!

But.... I'm happy to be proven wrong!

Ed if you truly, deep in your soul, believe in your words I envy you!

Can you please provide details of what research is BTA doing that will directly benefit from this fundraising and help us?!

People here can think of me whatever they want but I'm fully opened to be proven wrong!

I will stop my contribution to this thread simply out of respect for a young life cut too short!

This thread is about Danny and our memories of him so it should not be polluted with discussions on fundraising initiative.

We can do this in another thread.

That's awful, I'm so sorry.

Over a grand in less than a day is not to be sniffed at. The target is whatever we want it to be; the £10,000 figure is a rudimentary number that serves no real purpose. I've seen numerous other fundraisers on the platform going well above half a million. All it takes is donations, shares, likes, and then rinse and repeat. We need a hands on approach, so spread the word, message influential people, and give it some fight.

Update July 24, 2018

I'm happy to report that the BTA will support the campaign and will help to promote the message through social media and other communication channels.

The BTA will also ensure the funds raised from the GoFundMe campaign are earmarked for research purposes.

It's also possible there will be an in-memory of Daniel BTA fund, ring-fenced for tinnitus research - allowing people to give in Daniel's name for the foreseeable future, beyond this single GoFundMe campaign. I will provide an update on this later on.

Daniel's sister has also thanked for the condolences, and given her blessing to the fundraising campaign.

Why so negative??

What are you doing yourself, to make a change?

What are you doing yourself, to make a change?

Do not speak to me in such a derogatory manner without knowing what I have done!

Maybe my negativity on the topic is a direct result of my efforts done in the past which changed nothing!

When you spend countless hours constructing letters to families of the members we lost in the past, contacting various organisations, researchers, Facebook groups.... than you can say something!

In the meantime....shhhhh!!!!!

Nothing positive comes out of being negative.

Joining forces to raise money for tinnitus research in Daniel's name is a lovely thing to be involved in and hope more treatments and a cure can be found.

I asked you a simple question. Nothing derogatory about that. But your attitude is way too aggressive and negative, that I will not go into further discussion with you. I am just glad that you are actually doing something yourself.

Perhaps best - and indeed more respectful - to start a new thread on the positives and frustrations of funding elsewhere and leave this one as a positive monument to the memory of Danny.

RIP, brother. Bless you and may you finally be at peace.

Wow, may he rest in peace! What a sad thing...

Why does a young man have to suffer like this????
Sorry for my swearing but why is there no fucking help out there for some???

How is it that this young man had to experiment with meds on his own?? Why was there no expertise out there for him?? No doctor to take him under his wing. It's like all of us are on our own with these g*ddamn illnesses. Whether it's tinnitus or visual snow you are just left out there to rot in your own misery till you can't take it no more.

And if you ever state that you are feeling unstable you are given meds which have a huge potential to make things worse specially with tinnitus.

I am not saying all doctors are bad or evil people not at all but some of them are just reckless, un-informed, or just don't give a damn. That's MY experience... This whole world seems twisted lately. Maybe it's because I am going through benzo withdrawal and my tinnitus is hammering me and I too feel very lonely in this. And sorry if my post is dramatic or negative but I am in a bad place at the moment and I am just effing fed up!!! A message like this scares me to death really and hits me hard and makes me very sad and angry.

RIP
