[Danny Boy Memorial Fund] In Loving Memory of Danny Boy

We have the responsibility to never give up
When we die it doesn't mean we lose
You win by how we live
And why we live
And in the manner in which you live
So live and fight like hell
And when you get too tired
Lye Down and let someone else fight for you.

Stay strong all never give up and keep fighting
Prayers to all

RIP Danny Boy

Wow, may he rest in peace! What a sad thing...

Why does a young man have to suffer like this????
Sorry for my swearing but why is there no fucking help out there for some???

How is it that this young man had to experiment with meds on his own?? Why was there no expertise out there for him?? No doctor to take him under his wing. It's like all of us are on our own with these g*ddamn illnesses. Whether it's tinnitus or visual snow you are just left out there to rot in your own misery till you can't take it no more.

And if you ever state that you are feeling unstable you are given meds which have a huge potential to make things worse specially with tinnitus.

I am not saying all doctors are bad or evil people not at all but some of them are just reckless, un-informed, or just don't give a damn. That's MY experience... This whole world seems twisted lately. Maybe it's because I am going through benzo withdrawal and my tinnitus is hammering me and I too feel very lonely in this. And sorry if my post is dramatic or negative but I am in a bad place at the moment and I am just effing fed up!!! A message like this scares me to death really and hits me hard and makes me very sad and angry.

RIP

You are spot on actually, and I fully agree with you. I also, understand what it is to not be believed, supported, carelessly given meds or none at all. Mental health, no exception too. It seems, most docs don't give a damn.

How sad. Very sad indeed.

Fly High Danny Boy.

@glynis I don't have Facebook or Twitter. Would it be possible to send a donation to TT and have it transferred?

You can go to the GoFundMe page directly and donate from there: https://gf.me/u/m6bsnt

You can donate from the US (in USD) even if the donation is in British Pound: you'll be given the choice of letting your Credit Card handle the "international fees" (some CC do not have any such fees), or let PayPal handle the fee (I think they take 3%).

It's taken me a while to get my head around writing this. Just like many others on this site Danny Boy was one of the first members to reach out to me when I developed tinnitus 3 years ago. I have since habituated and it barely bothers me these days, but that is a whole other post.

However, if it had not been for the kind words and support from Danny and many others in this group I would not be here to write that post today.

Thank you Danny....may you enjoy the silence we so desperately crave. Lots of love to you on the next phase of your journey and love to your family and friends.

Also, lots of love to my fellow tinnitus sufferers....please, reach out to someone if you ever need it. Although we may feel like it sometimes, we are never alone.

This is a poem by Daniel Ballinger (Danny Knightly, Danny Boy)

I thought would be nice for members to read.

Thank you @glynis. What a wonderful way to remember Danny's spirit. The words from his heart make a beautiful poem.

I am totally shocked by this sad news. Danny Boy was a beloved member of our TT support community. He had a golden, compassionate heart for people and was very knowledgeable about the researches on tinnitus. Ed has done the right thing to do this fund raising in Danny's name. I know my donation may not move the mountain of tinnitus from humanity, but hopefully it will help start lifting some gravels with our collective effort.

Rest in peace, Danny. We will miss you. May your spirit find perfect love and acceptance with Our Heavenly Father who will not miss all your kind acts towards the strangers who came to you for help and support in their despair. Your life might be short, but you have done something so praise worthy that many, even the strong and mighty, might not have done once in their life time. Those who you have helped lifted out of their darkness will testify to the noble soul you have within you. R.I.P. brother.

My wife had no problem connecting. I was using my sign-in with an added com thinking that it was our email address.

Very sorry to hear about this. He fought hard and was willing to try something radical like Trobalt...and to share his experiences with us.

I know something of his pain and frustration,
and the feeling that you would try anything to get rid of this wretched noise, and solve the awful dilemma of this compromised life;
but what a dangerous path he trod.
Not a criticism - just an observation.
Sweet natured lovely guy.
Rest in Peace - Danny Boy xx

After knowing about this sad and tragic new what worries me the most is the impact something like this may have in our morals.

This counts as one more wound to me which I will have to deal with as I suspect will happen to many of us.

Danny was a kind, supportive and comnunicative guy. He made his decisions and we can not judge them as we know it's very difficult to connect with other person's real grief.

He was brave in any case. He has been brave to his last choice.

I hope this sad event helps to tighten the knots between us as a community. We are always there for each other.

I hope this helps to visualize our condition and the need for a treatment or a cure. No more habituation as an ultimate goal. No more lives ended because of how difficult is to handle this.

Rest easy, Danny Ballinger.

Hugs to everyone here.

@Julien87,
Thank you for the video and the words are so beautiful to music and I can see why Daniel loved the song and put it down in words.

love glynis

I have downloaded it to my Samsung Cloud under In Memory of Danny Boy.

He's the person I can think of being most fact based and dedicated to healing and finding a cure. I remember talking to him about Astaxanthin and NT3 supplementation to potentially to help natural repair of cochlear damage. He was very active at posting new research and medical studies. When I got tinnitus he seemed to have largely stopped posting besides new study information, but was very responsive to pm or questions, and provided incredible information, with all kinds of research links. He was one of the few people who saw the hope in a cure. Not in denying or minimizing the condition, but finding a cure.

I often when posting or recently would think of him and other members who had stopped posting as frequently and hoped they were "getting better" in whatever sense that is possible with this/these horrible conditions...

I don't know how to comprehend or communicate how it feels to read this news.

A friend just told me about this. So sorry to hear it, may his memory be a blessing and his family find some comfort.

Does anyone actually know what really happened? I read this thread and people seem to be jumping to conclusions. Has anyone talked to a relative or close friend of him in the "real" world?

It's great to have a place to remember and write eulogies, but we should all be careful not to jump to conclusions and spread misinformation about an unfortunate event like this.

Best,
Zug

His sister replied on his Facebook page that they don't know what happened to him yet but she would update when they know.

Just an update to say that we have been in touch with his sister the whole time. His family appreciate the Fundraiser and I still believe it's a great way to honour him and all the work he did for tinnitus. Let's do Danny proud.

As a side note, I will also be donating to visual snow research.

Please cross discipline research tinnitus, hyperacusis, hearing loss and TTTS!
If we want to find a cure for various reasons we have to target the root cause not treat tinnitus as if it's a separate condition.

Look into the research of hearing loss regeneration in hopes that the brain will unwire tinnitus when input is restored!

When I look at Danny's photos on the GoFundMe page, his face looks exhausted and distressed like as he went through hell, in the second photo when he younger he also looked suffering. In his last public photo on Facebook, he looked like as if he wanted to leave a special impression of his life, sadly that his family / friends could not keep him.

I would also like to know what the BTA and ATA are doing, objectively, regarding tinnitus and hyperacusis. I think members of this forum should respect and accept everyone's opinion. To speak the truth is not to be negative.

I would donate to the ATA, but I did research and noticed that they did not present any news to, at least, our improvement, I'm not even talking about healing. We have to face the reality!

Why did all this happen to Danny Boy and others before him?

This will have to happen to how many people?

It's time for things to change and for tinnitus to really be taken seriously. I think that's what Danny would like too.

Really sad to hear the news. He was an eloquent member of the forum and will be much missed. Sadly in the UK the support system for tinnitus is pretty limited for those without deep pockets. RIP.
