Don't See the Point Anymore to Staying

-Ringing that is heard over EVERYTHING. Not just when it's semi quiet like many have hear. I hear it over everything. There is zero maskjng.
-The uneven hearing that I truly don't think people without measurable hearing loss in one ear and ok hearing in the other can appreciate. It'd screws with everything. It's one thing for many on hear to complain about some lower quality in sound as before. It's another to where you have to literally offset you car or headset radio to hear some balance, but it'd not the same.
-I can't focus at all. At my work or studying. I literally just stare at screen at work and just hope to be somewhat productive.
-I dont listen to music or Tv shows anymore like I always did. I have zero idea what is going on around me anymore.
-no one is helping me. I went to multiple doctors and they won't prescribe me a strong anti anxiety pill until I see a psychiatrist. Which won't be for another month.
-I prob got kicked out of am101 trials at this point because missed appointment last week cause I shut down and don't even know what to do anymore. Prob should just take meds and get out of trial at this point . but no one will prescribe any real medication at this point.
1) I explained the best possible routes awhile back on this post that you can follow through with in your life now with your hearing issue plus the physical issue you have along side it.

2) There is slow progress being made. We all understand the problems you are dealing with now in your life. It's just that asking for sympathy and complaining about what's going on all the time isn't going to help you. Sympathy is great every now and then but it's how you deal with this problem until a solution comes out is what's going to allow you to keep moving forward no matter how bad it gets.

3) If there is anything I can do for you with the limited abilities I have typing this out through a computer screen, ask away. I can find whatever information you need but just understand that people on here can only go so far as bringing in information about treatments being developed for the future.

I'm here to help you though. I wish I could find you a treatment right now for you problems but there just aren't any available. It sucks reading about what you're going through and I'm basically going through the same thing. You have to try your best to adapt to this new you. I know you can do it. Appreciate the little things you can do everyday. But what you can really do to move forward is research on your own, donate to companies developing treatments, and keep an eye open for any new information about the amazing sensory feature we have as humans called hearing.

I'm starting a path soon to become a researcher to study more about hearing and the brain. I want to help people in this world who have problems with their hearing and I also want to help myself in the end. I'm doing what I can to solve my problem.

First off, I appreciate your time on here and some of the help you have given me so far. I hope you are able to pursue your studies to help cure hearing loss and tinnitus. I feel it may take people who have these issues to actually solve them. It's one thing to know about a problem, and another to actually experience that problem.

Anyways, I'm going to try to cut down on my complaining in this thread. To your point one, do you mind linking to that post or just retyping it here? I hate to do that, but I think in my distress still and taking in all the advice I have been given in and outside this forum, I kind of get lost in it.

Honestly, to your questions, I guess all I want to know is what I should really do at this point. I entered the AM-101 trial and am probably kicked out at this point. From probably not filling out the journal enough, to taking medication, etc..

I mean, beyond just resting my ears as much as I can and seeing if hearing can come back over the next 6 months, I'm unclear the best course of anything else I can do to help my hearing come back this far out.

I guess that is my only question. At this point, a little under 3 months out, what is my best course of action to help bring my hearing back (and sorry if this means repeating some things).

Thanks for any help.

Also that goes for anyone else with knowledge. Are there any other medical actions I can take at this point or is it all too late to do anything? Please someone let me know what is the best thing to do at this point.

It's not too late to move on. You have such a small level of hearing loss, that what you are experiencing is probably the common symptom among tinnitus sufferers of the ear being plugged up/fullness. This would account for not being able to hear things with that ear very well, and thus the tinnitus sounding louder. If it is just the fullness/plugged up symptom, it is probably your body's response to your recent episode of loud sounds and your severe anxiety response; I bet it is trying to protect you with some level of fluid in the middle ear they can't see with a otoscope. And what do you think the best solution is to help your body/brain understand it is safe?: Moving on.

But if what you are hearing/feeling is hearing loss, then let the researchers do their job.

There's money to be made; things to be learned; girls to meet; lucid dreams to be had :).

I don't know what the best thing for me to do. I want to make sure I'm doing everything I can at this point medically to get my hearing back. What else can I do at this point? I would ask doctors but many unfortunately are incompetent.

What else can I do?

What else can I do?
There is nothing you can do medically.
You can go and have a tiny day operation performed by ent surgeon which is a tiny cut in the ear allowing fluid to drain out of the inner ear.....they put in the equivalent of a small tube also known as a grommet which normally stays in place for around 9 months I think before surgical removal ,,,,,or it can fall out naturally.

I think you should try to get in touch with the research department, explain what you have been going through, and try to salvage your trial if possible. Ask at the very least if you could participate in the open label round. There may not be a whole lot you can do at this moment about your hearing, but there still is a chance AM-101 might improve your T. Something is better than nothing. But don't just sit on it and let it go. Pick up the phone, call, recommit, and stick to it!

There are things you can do to get your life back, but you need to accept the above first.

So, what would be the next step to be able to focus again, enjoy music again, keep my job, and be productive in school etcc?

How would this help my situation?

I am trying to get back in touch but chances are no.

That's only if there has been fluid identified behind the eardrum. This man has hair cell or auditory nerve damage.

Step 1, stop searching for a cure. Step 2, Lessen the negative outlook and try to find positive spin on things (you seem to be doing better here actually). Step 3, get back into the routine of life and do things you (used to) enjoy. It won't be fun at first, but very slowly it will get better.

Do you feel I could basically have my normal life back? Sure, sanes some hearing, but be normal again like before?

jd,

Risking covering something that has been mentioned already, I'll ask anyway -- have you consulted an audiologist about trying out a hearing aid that also has a masking function? If the audiologist has experience in dealing with tinnitus even better. Or are you averse to using a hearing aid?

Go to utube and type in Jullian Cowan Hill for his free advice and therapy about your T. There is hope and you will improve in time and it might go away alltogether. The first couple of monthes we all were freak out and then with coaching and meds if you need them you will improve a little at a time where you will feel normal again..You will get through this and you are going to be fine.....
