Dr. Jennifer Gans Psychologist Specializing in Mindfulness & Tinnitus

:welcomesignanimation: Dr. Gans!! I will add my welcome to this thread! I, as are many here in the T community, are hungry for input from knowledgeable people who actually understand (as much as one can without actually having T) what we are going thru, and can offer credible treatments or therapies!! (y) I like your moniker of: looking for a new way to live with rather than against tinnitus!! I am glad you found our little corner of the world here at TT!!! :)

Hi All.

Am a big supporter of mindfulness and rewiring. Am getting on with the noise ok, and living a happy life, all considering.

Was having a vary rare conversation about the noise. Happened to be with my twin brother who was on a very rare visit.

Something he said really struck a chord with me. He said:

"Sounds like you're ADDICTED to it."

That was a bit of a shock, but you know, If I'm honest with myself, and take a true measure of the attention I give this,

I think it's true.

Great to be part of the Forum. Mindfulness teaches us to stop the "war" with ourselves. Kind of stops the tinnitus vs me dynamic. Glad you are interested in this new approach.

Thanks Citigirl13. I agree. There is so much false information flying around about tinnitus and I am happy to be here to speak about what is really happening in the medical/psychological community. It's also a great way to alert people to new approaches to healing like Mindfulness Based Tinnitus Stress Reduction (MBTSR). I'm happy to be here to share what I know. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Hello Dr Gans just want to say welcome to the forum. Can I ask you if you also have Tinnitus? I've had it for 7 months and its been one of the most challenging things I gone/am going through in my life. This forum has truely been a blessing tho glad you can join us.

Yes, I can see already what a great support this site is. Really glad to be a new member.

Welcome! I'm all ears and would love to hear what is really happening in the medical/psychological community re: tinnitus. If you care to give a couple paragraph primer on MBSTR, I'd love to see that as well. Looking forward to your posts.
