How to Be with Someone Having Tinnitus?

Hey are you boys teasing @coffee_girl?
I wasn't. I have a Russian background, and for Russians there is nothing wrong with the concept of "intelligentsia."

Have you guys met someone that you were completely smitten with?
No.

I have always been equally attracted to all women. I've met a woman or two whom I wasn't attracted to (as they looked a bit masculine), but that happens as rarely as others meeting a woman they feel they were smitten with.
@Bill Bauer I keep my radio or music going because the complete silence while reading is difficult.
It is difficult because of tinnitus, right? But why would a healthy person have a radio on while doing other things like reading or studying? Isn't it like giving T to yourself? It is T that you can turn off - so why not turn it off?

I have the radio when i am sewing...it is very relaxing...it kinda makes me think i am from the 40s lawl

I fully agree. Some people prefer to find escape by drinking themselves into a drunken stupor or participate in taking illegal substances. When it comes to reading they haven't a clue how rewarding a good book can be and where it can take you, and the benefits it can have on the mind. It can increase one's vocabulary and improve writing and communication skills, so it's a win win.

Michael
Those three activities are not mutually exclusive.

@Bill Bauer it's not even about "intelligentsia", but some of these dudes are hyping the club scene like it's the holy grail of youth and it really is not. Yeah getting wasted at some bar (while your friends are busy hosing your ass down so you can be coherent enough to walk) is like a milestone in college. But not all young people are like that, there are bigger and much better things in life just sayin.

I've never had that experience in college (and I've spent over 25 years in colleges, in one capacity or another). Having said that, I am very happy with what I got out of college.

That's what a member of the intelligentsia would say. ;)

Girl why would you go to strip clubs?
Lol...I have never been to a strip club, though I have lived in LA and the parties there might as well be strip clubs. I don't know about other states but a regular low key party in California will always have coke in the bathroom or on the coffee table. Youre either doing coke or doing a little weed or at least sitting in the corner grinding your teeth to get through the coke high so you can drive home at 5 am.

Just to be clear...I never did any of this, I was just there...i never participated.

I've just learned that feelings, even mutual feelings, are not the same thing as long-term compatibility. Everyone's got their own laundry list for what they want in an ideal partner so you can have great initial chemistry and then find out afterwards that you're not moving in the same direction.

These sorts of situations are more the rule than the exception. When you're just starting out in life you naively think that feelings alone are all you need, but they're really only part of the mix.

Not that any of this has anything to do with T. It's just that I think some perspective is in order here. T is merely one of a whole host of challenges that anybody goes through in order to find love. So try not to think of people without T as having it so easy just because they can go dance clubbing and going to rock shows.

I'm blown away that someone would even need to have that explained to them. Blown. Away. Apparently hearing loss doesn't just cause tinnitus but it also makes people into idiots.

I think it was already clarified tactfully before you decided to name-call.

I'm not saying I'm a saint but I've noticed a pattern of you saying rude things or dropping cheap sarcasm into sensitive threads and this deserves to be called out.

This place is a support group. You have people who are routinely struggling with suicide ideation. You have to show a little more consideration than normal.

The internet has no shortage of hangouts where people can just hurl insults at each other if that's what floats your boat.

Gee where was you morality patrol the during the very numerous times I have been name-called and insulted?

Huh? Sorry I don't get your point. There is nothing wrong with having music playing while doing other stuff. It is not gonna give one tinnitus or make it worse. For me it is all about distraction from the inside noise of my brain.

Lol I just searched the word idiot and there are numerous instances of people saying that to each other without you there to enlighten them about the true path of righteousness.

Exactly...

I am a hopeless romantic and want people to find love....

I'm more than happy to open the floor for others to weigh in on whether the bigger problem is you acting like a dick or me being sanctimonious. But what I said about this being a self-help group and your tone being destructive is hard to deny. If you want to consistently be negative like this I'll just report your posts to the moderators until you get banned and I suggest everyone else do the same.

I did thought it had an essence of trash but I wasn't sure, i tried to censor it to be a little more ladylike but then i realize it made it trashier...then my brother said I looked like a hooker and so i just deleted it.

You had been engaging in a bit of "inner immigration" (i.e., "mental dissociation from one's country or surroundings").

I do inner immigration (imagine that I am not really there, that I am actually home) when I have to attend boring meetings.

Please don't spend any precious time worrying whether the denizens of Tinnitus Talk think you look trashy.
