I Invented a Sound That Knocked Out My Tinnitus

That is my goal here, to improve the Tinnitus Mix success rate from 50% to 90% or higher, I think we are on the brink of that with all the ideas and brain power here.
I have a clarifying question if you don't mind?

You have suggested that for reactive tinnitus, headphones should be worn couple inches behind the ear.
But would it not achieve the same effect, as if I just placed them square on my ears and lowered the volume instead?

10 nights down. My hyperacusis doesn't exist anymore. I have been readjusting everything back up to civilian-levels of sound. So grateful for that.

Seems like my very high frequency head-oriented tinnitus is gone too. Haven't heard it in a while. My tonal tinnitus is still there, coming and going through the day. This morning I could I couldn't find it and I was sitting in basically a soundproof chamber (20 decibels).

Past couple of days my tinnitus has seemed a lot less intrusive. It isn't screaming at me quite as much.

I sleep like a baby to Tinnitus Mix now. I may use it forever instead of a sound machine. Doesn't bother me at all.
What type of hyperacusis did you have? Loudness? Pain?

What type of hyperacusis did you have? Loudness? Pain?
I would say pain, sensitivity especially to higher pitches, and it was always accompanied by ear fullness on a flareup. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a five. Pain and fullness wasn't constant, but would really sneak up on me in the car, and especially when on the phone or video calls. The sound sensitivity was tough - I was really scared about being around kids, street noise, etc. I can confidently say that all of those issues are now gone. Maybe that was time, but I really do feel like Tinnitus Mix accelerated that improvement. It improved my quality of life a lot, because for a while I was sitting in my office with the door closed afraid to have meetings, and wincing through them. Now it's back to normal.

@R. David Case

Not to give legal or commercial advice, but I really think it is in your best interest, if you have not already, to investigate patents for this sound and method / protocol. Someone is going to catch on and make money from this. You've created a protocol that has enough efficacy. You don't have to sell it to people if that's not your bag, but I have a feeling that if someone else knocks it off and sells it to people, you'd be unhappy.

What type of hyperacusis did you have?
I had general hyperacusis for many months that pretty much went away but then I had a slight noise exposure that made a new HF noise sensitivity in my right ear only. It was easily triggerable. I am elated that it is gone now.

Surely you could download a simple sound editing software from the Internet, for example Audacity. There you can rather easily change the frequencies of even the smallest sounds in the whole Tinnitus Mix. All of this can be done with the use of YouTube tutorials, in about 10-20 minutes (?)
Yes, that's exactly what I did using Audacity. I increased the volume on higher frequencies starting 8 kHz an saved it as an mp3. I also swapped the stereo channels because I noticed in the first 15 minutes there a stronger high pitched sound on the right, which I wanted to have on the left ear.

But... no effects on my t so far. I've had a great day on Sunday, but Saturday was terrible and so were the last three days.

It is patented by David Case :D Anyone who will try to steal this, will have to pay up to $500,000 fine, or something like that. I'm just repeating what's been said.

That seems to be the main thing about this for me as well. WHICH IS GRRRRRRREAT!
I don't mean this question to be insulting in any way. It truly comes from a place of respect. But I am having a hard time reconciling your earlier posts in this thread which the progress you are reporting now. What changed? Was it a change of attitude towards this or going at it from a DGAF point of view?

I decided to join this forum based on this thread. Downloaded Tinnitus Mix a week ago and got a taste of it through my cheap sony head phones. I think they go up to 22 kHz. Just ordered the Koss headphones, $19.69 pick up at Walmart. I have no idea how I'm going to sleep listening to it but the price is right. Thank you David Case and all of you who are taking part in this crazy experiment.

Mr. Case, is it counterproductive to use this as a masker during the day?
No, just don't play it too loud is the point. It works even at lower volumes in the long run. We found people with very loud tinnitus would try to mask it with Tinnitus Mix would get a temporary spike. When they reduced the volume per instructions they had no problems and their tinnitus was greatly reduced in the 3 weeks.

You are welcome, and good luck, the sounds do change into soothing sounds so it gets better in MANY ways.

The tinnitus will come and go in the first 3 weeks as Tinnitus Mix battles the tinnitus. Just don't skip a night or the tinnitus could try to reform.

Yes I have it copyrighted, one day I would like to get it into some kind of professional setting just so people will do it correctly, then millions would be able to access the treatment. It would be nice to improve the 50% success rate to 90%+ first.

Well we have a few people that just put headphones close to the ears until they can get used to the sounds and I think you should start out doing that then move them over the ears on very low volume. Main reason is some have trouble with accidentally playing it too loud and causing a spike.

Melatonin.

Day 17 . After struggling with it in the first week or so, I've been sleeping longer hours listening with the Koss phones. Have been experimenting with natural/herbal sleep aids. Had a loud tinnitus on Monday, a big snow storm day but it calmed down to baseline the next day once the barometric pressure stabilized. My hearing is still much improved. Tinnitus is improved somewhat and it bothers me less.

Ok thank you for the clarification.
Also, are the residual inhibition components in the Tinnitus Mix partially responsible for its effectiveness?

Well, my daily noonish spike did come and it didn't subside until I woke up this morning.

I am starting to believe that while this sound therapy is doing something, it is certainly not permanent. Whatever is causing my tinnitus is still 100% there and it seems like my improvements are just suppression, which is still better than nothing.

Yes... I am beginning to see how the business model might work: you listen to the awful soundtrack and when you are done with the file and take the headphones off, it feels like you have no tinnitus at all
But: All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident. ‒ Arthur Schopenhauer

We are at the end of stage 1...

If I'm not mistaking, Mr. Case was saying that tinnitus will fight this hard and will try to reform itself during the first 3 weeks, so it is important not to skip a night.
After that, I believe that he was saying you can play it just through regular speakers 2 nights a week for maintenance.

So yes, while it sounds like a suppression of sorts, if I ever got to that point, I would consider myself cured.

Yes I agree, the tinnitus wants to reform but Tinnitus Mix interferes with it.

I too had no idea how I could sleep while listening to this insane sound playing on headphones. Now I don't know how I'm going to sleep without it. It's crazy, but you'll get so used it is quickly.
Yes it is amazing how something that sounds like this actually changes in your perception to soothing sleep promoting therapy. I sleep soo good playing Tinnitus Mix. I don't know what I would do without it.

Well many say that the suppression lasts much longer than residual inhibition, I think there is more going on here in Tinnitus Mix.

I know a lot about Tinnitus Mix reducing tinnitus and clicking sounds but we now have 5 people saying their hyperacusis is COMPLETELY GONE. I wonder if it will come back slowly in a few weeks like tinnitus? I have a feeling it may not return like tinnitus. So keep us informed after the 3 weeks are up.

Wrong.
