Cause of Tinnitus
Ear infection
My T on my left ear came from an ear infection. Not noise induced. After that I had H and that comes and goes depending on how anxious I am. It is not nearly as bad as it was when I first had the H.

I now have a high pitch ring in my right ear and now a low drone noise in my left ear.

None of it is very loud. Mostly if I go outside I cannot hear it, mostly I can't hear it in rooms that normal activity is going on like even the fridge masks it. but it scares me. Is this mild T? I was a semi quiet office yesterday and heard it. I am not sure if all this means it's mild. My biggest fear is that it will get worse and worse and it is seeming to.

I don't know what I am doing to make this worse or do you think it's not worse and I am just noticing noises that were always there?

Yes, it's mild T. The more you focus on it the more you'll make a big deal of it, even though it's mild. Get on with your life, and be thankful you don't have the severe & intrusive kind.

She has been told this advice thousand times, she's still here.....

So it's getting worse because I'm thinking about it? Or is there something else I'm doing in my regular life that is making it worse?

Marie,
There is little in your life you can do to increase or decrease your tinnitus. If there was such a roadmap, we would each follow it.
Focus on your overall health. Don't drink too much. Get a lot of sleep. Stay away from big noise and cranking your earphones. I am a big proponent of exercise for not only brain chemistry but a stronger body and even self esteem.

Less you focus on it, the less it will bother you.
Live like before and you may even get lucky and have it go away.
Good luck

Marie the two things that tend to make my tinnitus seem more loud is definitely sugar and stress. If I sit and think about my T that can also be an antagonist. One last thing is I have to wear ear plugs if im running my boat lawn mower or anything loud that will spike my T. My life is pretty much back to normal and dont pay much attention to my T and it has lowered in volume. When it seems loud I get busy with a project and stay in a sound rich invironment with classical or new age relaxing music..Dont get me wrong I still can get a day where it seems bothersome but those days seem to get less and less and the T backs off some with time too, at least from my standpoint...

You are correct but there are new tones.

Marie, I think you are real fortunate to not hear it outside or only hear it in quiet places. I think the main reason you aren't habituating is due to your physical make up. We are all created with different personalities and genes and our brains aren't all the same. For the time being you "might" benefit a supplement just to calm you down. Ask a holistic doctor or a regular doctor about a supplement called 5-HTP. Maybe a small amount would help you temporarily with your worry and depression. If the doctor says it is okay, I would think if you can take the lowest you need for the shortest amount of time you can, that would be the best route but a holistic doctor may know better or may know of something else that might benefit you instead. Some people on here have been helped by 5-HTP as far as their depression and mood so you could also talk to them. I don't want to tell you to do anything though. Cardio exercise and drinking lots of water might be the best thing to do before you even think about supplements. :)

Before you try any supplement though, my advice would just be to take a little bit of it just to see how it affects you even if it means cutting a tablet up small or opening a capsule and pouring out some powder. (Just my advice) :)

Mine gets worse lately I think, and I don't know why :/ I try to find what combinations made it worse but not sure.. I am afraid it will get worse and worse :( good luck to both of us to have it stabilized to a low level ..
