Marijuana / Cannabis and Tinnitus

it has to do with the dose, my tinnitus used to go up with cannabis, until i realized that a normal dose of THC is 10 mg.

Speak for yourself; for me, any amount of marijuana which is high enough to have any detectable effect, results in fairly significantly increased T for a period of hours. This remains true if I am completely abstinent for a long period of time and then use an absolutely miniscule dose (IE, 0.025-0.05g of relatively weak pot), and has nothing to do with chemicals used in production because I have tried this with stuff I know to have been grown organically in good soil (and flushed and cured properly).

I agree that CBD-dominant strains are a surefire way to get to sleep, and I played that game for a long time. But, I became concerned that overall the quality of my sleep suffered, and after a lot of work I found other ways of getting a good 8-10 hours a night without any drugs.

If I ended up in a really rough spot with insomnia again, weed is higher on my list of things to try than benzos or ambien, but I definitely don't think it's totally benign, either. There's limited, but concerning, research indicating that cannabinoid receptors in the dorsal cochlear nucleus might be intimately involved in tinnitus itself. Though, in the rare cases where people report that pot actually reduces their ringing, I reckon the same mechanism might be involved.

I really wish this worked for me; I used to love pot, and I have used a lot of it over the years.

Never heard anyone say MJ lowers their T, usually the opposite.
Depending on the compound, it does both to me now and the problem is I don't know what the makeup of the stuff is. I can tell THC heavy because it's a bit trippy. It does

Hey:
I care less about benzos - tried many and wondered of clonapin caused T. It likely didn't but who the heck knows.
Ambien (zolpidem) I do care about and it wipes me out. Sleep? It's not peaceful by a stretch of my imagination. I
am in a constant state of varying degrees of tired. People don't see it ... except my partner, rats, and dog. I fake the
rest. Weed - yes, it can cause T to be louder and I stopped caring because the alternatives are worse. I've reached a point where there's so much juggling of opinions out here that I don't care that it may cause the T to be worse. If I could only find someone who knows the contents of the weed, THAT could be helpful.

In this complicated world of T, what doesn't cause T - if we don't know causes (even stress was started that caused T somewhere) we won't know what works. We're all different, so we each likely need to nail it down to what works
for our brain.

I'm really sorry to hear that; I was in the same boat with sleep not too long ago, and now I sleep pretty well without any drugs or supplements. I'd be happy to share what's worked for me if you want, I can PM you, but I didn't want to just do that without you asking me to, because I can be long-winded and annoying sometimes.

Getting accurate info on what's in any specific weed is really hard unless you're lucky enough to live someplace where it's legal.

mine come from Canna Farms, it is legal, and they tell you the CBC CBG CBD and THC content. to get CBN you have to heat it in the oven. i'm going to be doing some cooking on the weekend with a new batch, and see the results. All of Canada is legal to buy from Canna Farms with a prescription. your maximum is 5g/day the price is about 6-9$ per gram, in Canadian dollars. US dollar is 25% stronger than Canadian.

linearb: I'd be happy to go offline (PM, etc.) with you to learn about this. I'm not concerned about long-winded and annoying :) . Thanks for asking.

Weed is the only thing I enjoy these days with Mr. T around. The problem is that I'm scared I will make my T worse. I haven't smoked in a while and decided to the last couple of days. Both days my ears went haywire. First day, hyperacusis spike, second day my left ear received a new tone (gone next day). The new tone came in the form that fleeting T usually does, kind of deaf feeling in my ear LOUD as hell ringing, the tone was lower in pitch than my regular T, sounded like the channels that used to be off air late at night. Right until I fell asleep this lasted, I was worried but managed to fall asleep, woke up and gone!

I am willing to smoke and receive temporary spikes, I just worry that I'm playing with fire, I don't know.

Smoking weed is one of the only things that seems to pull me back to earth. I feel like I'm suffering so much that I have become distant and totally disconnected from pretty much anything in life, including myself, this helps me reconnect again.

Not sure what to do.

Hmmm.. that is quite a quandary.

I say keep at it and see what happens. Try and get MM and play around with edibles and different strains, like the high CBD low THC ones..that is unless you need the "pick me up" that thc provides.

I plan on trying it.

Yeah I guess it's the THC that gives me the pick me up? I feel like my interests come back and the little things in life are fun again. I watched a long movie the other night after smoking, normally I can't get through and my concentration becomes really off 10 minutes in.

I will continue on a see what happens.

Yes it is exactly the THC..they use it for adhd, depression etc..My brother has adhd and it works well for him.

Yeah, like all of a sudden I'm paying more attention to my dog, I catch myself laughing and playing with her again. It's really has a amazing effect on me. I have never had anxiety so dont get paranoid like some people seem to. It's just a really nice feeling to be me again, even if it's just for a short time.

Oh that's awesome Telis, I'm so happy for you! ! :) It REALLY helps some people( like my bro for instance it's saved his life) I have a man in a group I run who just came on and said it was the only thing that helped him after. ...7 years I think he said. (H and T) :) I want to really give it a good go...No THC (or low) for me though because I do get anxiety from it.

I cannot handle weed anymore , smoked it for the majority of my life , grew it and was a weed connoisour if I may say so myself :) Found out that it caused me anxiety and in fact insomnia. And yes I tried growing high CBD weed as well. Spikes my T like nothing else .

LOVED it for making music , staying up for a few years , smoking weed and making tracks , miss that like nothing else .... making music has taken a big hit since I stopped.
In fact I am smoking a fat J on my pic .hehe

But...cannot take it , makes me super weird and I get completely fucked up , for real.
I might have "overdosed" , hehe... a minescule hit and I am a complete mess and feel awful... kind of weird
Shame. :p

I've experimented with this a bit lately, and still feel that weed generally makes me bug out and makes my ringing seem louder, but, if I use it 2-3 days in a row and then stop, I feel a lot more grounded and quieter T for the following 4-7 days. So, sometimes that's an okay tradeoff to make. Plus being stoned still has it's advantages if I need to have a closed-eye commune with the fractal lizard gods.

I did not give up on cannabis. although it will seem to spike the tinnitus, when you first take it, and that can be scary enough, i start out with SMALL doses, taken as an edible. gradually, i increase the dose of edible. also, i bake some of the cannabis in the oven at LOW heat (such as 220F, use a thermometer, my oven was way out of calibration, too hot, and would burn my expensive cannabis). smoking it is a no-no, that will definitely create a bad spike. baking the cannabis at low heat converts THC to CBN, which is very sedative. Bit by bit, I am starting to sleep better, and even though sometimes I get this alarm clock like effect going off in my head after taking some, i don't worry, that is just the cannabis effect, and it always goes away. lately i have not been getting this side effect. i combine my cannabis with lyrica and carbamazepine, which are both anticonvulsants, like cannabis is, and i also take agomelatine and mirtazapine, which are both sedative, like cannabis also is. i find this combination works well for me. in the past, i thought i would be in a pine box very soon, but for the past year, i've been doing great.

Odd. I can drink too much and feel like garbage. I have not ever reached the point of smoking too much.
It does make me more aware of the noise blasting but it also calms me a bit. I stopped smoking for a couple
weeks just to not spend the money. If I had access to it easily and if it was legal here (small amounts are), I'd know
what I was getting and I'd stay with it. Drinking just isn't worth it to me because of how bad it makes me
feel. Had less than a shot of something in a non-sweet, mixed drink a few days ago. Most was ice and
by about 1/2 consumed, I felt buzzed and didn't like it.

Since I'm not a pot smoker and only indulged in it way back in the 60's I'm having trouble with understanding what edibles would be good for a starter point on my anxity problem. I live in the state of Washington and we now can buy pot almost everywhere. I would just like to know in simple terms when I do go into one of the pot outlet store of what to ask for? I do not want to cook this stuff but just want to want to buy it and use. I also have a question how do you know how much to consume? And I guess thirdly what kind of prices should I expect to pay? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Here is another question? We have two different outlet types of outlet stores for the the buying of pot products. One is a store fount that is set up so you can but medical Mariawana And the other outlet stores are just stores where you can get any pot products-what is the main differences between the two?

Why does Marijuana help my Tinnitus, I'm less stressed n can sleep a little more at night. Only 1 doctor out of 4 doctors said to keep on this Marijuana because she sees the difference between prescribed medicine and Self medicate,. There is a chance of me getting arrested if I use marijuana as it's illegal, but if I don't use it I'm likely to commit suicide as I cannot cope with prescribed drugs

So you have answered the question yourself - keep using it. It will do you little harm....mostly good cos if it helps sleep then it is better already

I've been taking marijuana microdoses at bedtime for the past few weeks, with no other cannabis use. When I say "microdose", I mean that I make butter out of 1/8oz and then use literally 1/30th of that amount. I take it right before I go to sleep, but I know that taking the same dose while I'm awake results in zero intoxication, so it's a sub-threshold dose.

I believe it is helping. I got the idea from a reddit thread. In the day to day I wasn't super clear how much this was doing, I still have tinnitus -- but then if I miss a night, it comes back with a vengence the next morning, and I remember "oh yeah, this is what I was dealing with every day before I started microdosing pot".

It's probably worth a shot, the downsides seem pretty minimal compared to Trobalt or something.

Yes but does it go back down again after a day or so....?
Yes, the only accounts I've ever seen of significant protracted tinnitus from pot, relate to people using it really heavily for a long time and then stopping abruptly.

Getting too stoned can amp the hell out of my anxiety and make the ringing seem much, much worse, but it's self limiting and resolves after a few days.

Taking it in the very, very tiny micro doses that I use these days, does not cause any short-term spike, and does overall seem to make things quieter. But, I do mean "micro" dose -- if you take enough to feel any intoxication whatsoever, that's overdoing it. It's almost impossible to gauge a dose that small from smoking it, inhaling any amount of smoke makes me feel intoxicated.

If u find a no-thc source, lemme try it too?
