I originally got it from impacted earwax, but I think what is maintaining it is my TMD. I think this because I got a brace recently and my tinnitus is the quietest it's ever been.
I'm sure I said this at some point for a meme, but when I click on the little blue arrow, it just takes me to my comment about neuromod devices.
I also have TMJ among other potential causes of tinnitus. I notice I get increase H in my ears when my TMJ is acting up.
I hope we can drag @JohnAdams with us to Ireland as well!
I have an idea. Silence retraining therapy. Just sit in silence and do stuff like read and maybe that will teach your brain that this is silence and to stfu? I got this idea from not really masking at night and sitting in my office in silence and working. My tinnitus is in fact on the low low now as I type this.
So is mine I also used no masking last night. I never mask during the days because I can't at work and I find masking almost more annoying then my t

Seriously though. What other medical community has an establishment of people who pretend not to know what the problem is? It's infuriating that we're the one's who have to deal with this.

@JohnAdams just saw that post about your Dad dude. That's heavy. I had a similar experience when I was a kid and my Dad was killed. I also had a very bad run in the build up to T. I know about hearing loss etc but I'm pretty sure I would have silence now if I had spent more time 'sharing' in a circle of naked hippies and having my spirit animal cradled by some big breasted earth mother.

Did you guys see this pamphlet from Nueromod? The hype train is seriously on a roll now without any breaks. They are releasing their official findings on the 9th. I am so optimistic yet so terrified that it isn't as good as they are leading on.

150% they are freaking out because they will be obsolete if this product or other ones like it come to market. My only concern is that this may lead to some people greasing politicians to stop Nueromod from getting FDA approval in the US or at least delaying it. Obviously this is all speculation.
My question is, how is this treatment administered? Do you not have to first go to a clinic to get it set up with the tones of your tinnitus or do you just use it out of the box? Is there no personalization to this device like the other 2 devices in the US?

But hey we have zero treatments to date, so anything at all would be a great start! Yah!

Also, the article states that it is available privately.... Does this mean they are selling them, but not to the general public?
What is also amazing is that it states it reduced tinnitus by around 42%! That's insane! That's almost a 10 db reduction and this article is 3 years old so who know how good it is now!
Nice. I must say though confused by the fact this device has apparently been "released" like three times in the past six years (just based on articles I've read and stuff). Hmm.
Maybe they mean release information about it to the public or have done testing?
What is interesting is that the article address the need for an actual tinnitus treatment because there is a huge number of the population entering the "tinnitus zone" in terms of age along with the fact that our environment keeps getting louder over time causing increased hearing damage. Seems like if this device is successful along with the other two, there will hopefully be a treatment race to make the best one to capitalize on it.
$3,000 for an electronic device like this is total profiteering bullshit. A top notch gaming PC with a VR headset isnt even that much.
I could replicate this thing with a USB connected Arduino for $20 or less worth of parts, very easily, so long as I knew the timing scheme. These people are shameless.

You have to remember that your not just paying for the parts and labor, you are paying for the technology and research that went into it unfortunately. If it is successful, more companies will join this type of treatment letting capitalism do its thing reducing the price significantly.
