There's an unofficial kernel for Windows 2k that lets you run semi modern software like XP. I got it to work with Firefox 38, but Youtube stopped working once the back up flash player version of Youtube's website was removed in mid 2017.It was stable as a rock with SP4.
You were actually in control of your own system.
Windows 10 is doing things this way. Oh you want to change power settings or windows update settings?
Okay..i'll let you change it and then i'll change it back to the way i want in my obnoxius M$-fashion a week later.
It was still clunky on the modern web, screen tearing and couldn't render fonts correctly.
Just don't use Windows 10 if you don't like it. Your not forced to be Microsoft's bitch. Try Ubuntu, Kubuntu or Linux Mint (cinnamon). They are all the same OS under the hood with different desktops environments that change the look, feel and navigation the computer. I choose 18.04 LTS (long term support). It gets security updates until April 2023.
