There's nothing wrong with psychologists helping people cope with tinnitus just as psychologists help people cope with many other illnesses and disabilities. The problem as I see it is that research money that should be going to otologists (or neurologists or whatever -ologists deal with the physical causes of T) is going to psychologists. Organizations like the ATA should focus on the ear not the psyche.
Exactly! We all want a cure for tinnitus. Why aren't we focusing on that? Our researchers and institutions seem to be very focused on emotional processing of tinnitus instead of actually doing something about it. I can't figure out why this disconnect even exists don't they have tinnitus too?I felt sick to my stomach when I visited their website and saw this.
