I lived in Holland for a few years in the late 90's. I miss going to the bar, having a few beers and then walking to FEBO for a broodje kroket... or 2.

I also miss drop, patat met and the variety of artisinal cheeses available in the farmer's markets.
Oh really? Where did you live? The 90's was quite an interesting decade. Hope you didn't go nuts with all the rave & happy hardcore music that were often played in nightclubs :D

Give me earplugs, a walker and I'm unstoppable

I lived in Arnhem. The 90's were awesome, I wasn't into the whole happy hardcore or gabba I think it was called? I did enjoy house and trance and almost got to see Tiesto and Oakenfold live but got denied at the door by the bouncers for being too young to enter... lol.

I don't eat fish anymore, but I do remember that most people often order Kibbeling with ''whiskey-cocktail saus''. Is that what you mean with our special kind of mayonnaise? It's kind of a weird mix of mayonnaise, whipped cream, ketchup, vinegar, tabasco, chilli powder, salt & pepper. It looks a bit like this:
Oh my goodness!!! :hungry: :hungry: :hungry:

If I come to the Netherlands, will you take me out and feed me please??? Seriously Christiaan, can @Damocles and me come to you, and have you feed us?

It's literally a place where you can eat flat pancakes (typically Dutch) & the special kind of pancakes that are small and thick, called poffertjes (often with butter and apple syrup). You would often see this kind of special restaurant 20 years +/- ago but the arrival of American/Asian fast food has made it apparently less appetizing for most Dutchies. Anyway, have you tried it when you were in Amsterdam?
I haven't tried those pancakes, and they look awesome! Now I have a good reason to visit the Netherlands again!

If I were a pescatarian, I would definitely try that Galician dish you've just mentioned. That's sound delicious. A friend of mine is Peruvian-Galician and he told me all sorts of things about how good the Galician kitchen is when it comes to fish.

Uhmmm... that's another tough question, Juan. You're really good at that stuff, I have to say:) Well, the only thing I can think is the diminishing role of the pancake house (Pannenkoeken huis). Looks exactly like Swedish pancakes rolled up. A very simple recipe my aunt used to make when I was 60 years younger. She used 3 eggs, 1 and half cup of flour, 6 tablespoons of real butter and about 2 cups of milk mixed to a very thin batter. I can still taste them with strawberry jam. Damn making me hungry.

This is the way we're making pancakes here, in Romania.

And you're right. Homemade strawberry jam is the best!

Thinking about pimping my walker out with some flames or something.

Any ideas?
I would say leather and nails, maybe some bones, head skulls and such :)

A little concerned about the nails... you probably end up cutting yourself, getting an infection and die :D

BTW you're hands down the best looking woman I've ever seen in a walker :) :) :)

Damn, let's put that one off our list of things we're proud about :D But if it makes any difference, we do often use vanilla sugar in our pancakes, and that really spice things up a little.

There are also some similarities between Dutch & Irish baked goods, funnily enough. Did you know that our Krentenbrood looks a lot like your Irish Soda bread? I'd love to try your special kind of bread, but it's very hard to get it around here.

Damn, it would have been great to see Tiësto's concert. You've got good taste. I hope you've enjoyed your time in Arnhem. I've never visited that city but I do know the neighbouring city of Nijmegen and that's also a nice place to visit.

You're 100% right BTW. Gabber music & happy hardcore are almost the same, but the ''gabbers'' generally play a bit more emphasis on clothing style & their bass drum is so freaking prominent, it's almost 100% tinnitus inducing :O So, that's a bit of the ABC's of our special kind of music

Edit: oh, and this is maybe a nice thing to know for all the people here who are wondering what Gabbers used to look like in the 90s, well... it's obvious they took some fashion advice from our dear old @Zugzug.

So we've spent couple of days on Mallorca recently, despite pandemic and stuff. We are vaccinated so we felt safe, and while the 2nd shot had some nasty one-day effects on myself, nothing long-term. Mallorca was great, not crowded at all, but sometimes loud. In restaurants there were chairs screeching while being moved on the polished stone floor, loud cutlery thrown into baskets, clunking dishes. Outside - loud motorbikes including assholes deliberately revving their engines when I was covering my ears. So yeah, I could not get myself fully relaxed as I'd wish to, but I got some sort of a feeling what it would be to have normal life and you know - it was good. And it was good watching young fit tanned Spanish people playing beach volleyball and enjoying life too.

Your t-shirt is brilliant, hahaha!
Thanks! I just hope people get my message... you know, according to Urban dictionary "When F1 driver Lewis Hamilton drives as fast as he can.".

Btw. I wish I had a t-shirt with "SALE" on it. You can see plenty of them in malls, but how to buy one is kind of a mystery to me.

Going through a MASSIVE and NASTYspike for a week now after my Dr lowered my Escitalopram dosage from 15 mg to 10 mg.

Well, at least I am on a holiday trip through north Spain (Asturias and Cantabria) and yes, I am trippin'!

These photos were the most refreshing I've seen in a long time!

Thanks for letting us join your vacation in Spain <3

So glad you enjoyed them! It's been an amazing trip. I live in the south side of the country and things are quite different there. Here it's all green and fresh. Back in my hometown you can feel we're in the desertification belt of the planet.

I enjoy architecture a lot and there are huge differences in that department as well.

Tight hug to you, Exit.
