Solsaem Clinic (Dr. Minbo Shim) Experience

GERD stopped.
Hey, I had gerd too. Mine kinda stopped acting up. If I over eat and sleep right after I eat it will act up again for a few days.
He really wants to help people.
Yes he does.
He won't restrict himself to PRP injections thru the eardrums.
When he has other drugs available, and safe, and effective, he will use them.
I'm not even so sure he will stop with hearing loss. I wouldn't be surprised if he figures out how to regrow human limbs.
I am very happy about the 'side nose job'.
That was the most intense thing I have ever experienced. I almost passed out.

Did you by chance inquire to Shim about the blood drawn platelets? You said that he took a lot of blood, did he combine platelets extracted from the blood with the platelets retrieved from the marrow? Is it simply that the marrow platelets are somehow more potent than the blood derived platelets and have more likeliness of efficacy?
Regarding specific details about his method, I cannot divulge them without his permission. If you're considering this, then you need to wait for me to get through my recovery and post my audiograms. I understand your interest and concern but I am also a man of my word and I promised him I wouldn't just spam his methods all over the internet.
@GlennAz,

Perhaps you could be the one to answer some of the above questions which have been omitted?

If you would be kind enough to allow me to prompt you further, did you also receive extraction from your iliac crest? If so, were you given antibiotics as a result of the procedure, and do you know which kind of antibiotic and dosage? Do you happen to know if stem cells were at all utilized during your procedure(s), and if so, do you know the specific type of stem cell and their source? Do you know the contents of any vitamins or subsidiary substances used in your injections or IV? Could you tell us about the intratympanic injections, and how they effected your ear drums personally? Did you have any complications or negative ramifications?

You have undergone this procedure mostly for hearing loss? Do you have a copy of any pre-PRP audiograms that you could post? Have you experienced any "ear resets" or fleeting tinnitus that you feel were provoked by Shim's treatment? Is there anything about the procedure that you could elaborate on which has not been done so previously in this thread?

Thank you for the account of your experience.

@Flamingo1, I was still wondering about Silverstone's Microwick using dexamethasone on it. I would have guessed you may have checked them out being they are so close to you. I think my primary damage to my left ear was an airplane barotrauma in my left ear from a 2008 flight from Chicago to MSP. Haven't flown since. My left eardrum was 2/3rds full of fluid.

The Dr. I had seen from the Twin Cities mentioned to me trying the Silverstein Microwick a number of years ago. A member of this forum who lives in Sarasota didn't think too highly of them though regarding their treatments.

Well, I'm with John. There were some things Dr Shim asked me not to talk about, and I, too, need to honor that.

There were other things that you're asking that I simply do not know the answer.

Each day started with an exam. He looked up my nose, and checked on the surgery healing. Then he checked my ears, cleaned out dried stuff, took pictures. I could see the day after the injections, you could barely tell where the holes were made. They healed well.

It appears Dr Shim decides if he will use bone marrow, or blood that day. My first two days, he used blood plasma. Probably because he felt I might be a little weak from the nose job. After that, the marrow extractions began.

I got a total of 7 extractions. I think he prefers bone, but I'm not certain. I think bone is richer in growth factors and bone has stem cells in it. I also think that after a few extractions, it might have been harder to get more marrow. It comes from a hip bone he accesses thru your back. The growth factors might be a little different in bone and blood, but I'm not sure.

One of his nurses starts an IV at the start and takes plasma then, if that's what is going to be used. Then you get a reddish bottle, and after, a clear bottle. The reddish is vitamins, but I don't know what vitamins they were. The clear is supposed to be anti tinnitus, but I don't have a clue what it was.

A nurse treats/spins whatever material was taken, and you will soon get it injected in your ear. You lay there while it stews a while, and gives the room time to quit spinning. I didn't see how they did the procedures.

I'm hoping I'm beautiful enough to lure in an ENT/audiologist/person who has worked on FX-322 and give him the good grape fruit technique so I can get it for free.
Maybe ask Dr. Shim about that type of payment? Never hurts to ask.

Yep.

Ah yes, the 'ol grape fruit technique! Beloved by ENT's all over the globe!
But I know for a fact that some of the ENT's working on FX-322 are female. You might have to modify your technique a bit @GSC.

I can't believe I never found this before:

"Among the various types of stem cells, bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are one of the most promising stem cell sources for cell replacement therapy because they can differentiate into neurons (13) and can be used by the patient's own bone marrow"

So this is partly what Dr. Shim does, right?

That's what Shim did right?

Sorta, I believe in this study the implanted them directly into the cochlea of the guinea pig into the scala tympani.
While I have you here, John.
Question: Did he put the needle through your eardrum for every injection or did he put a small tube there for the twelve days and administered it through that?

Sorry if you've explained this before but how did you get your hearing loss?

Short insanely high dB sounds wearing headphones.
I was editing video and forgot to turn off "audio scrub" while going through footage.
Guess you could compare it with gunshots.

Also a long life loving to play music loud. Especially Pixies and electronic music.

I really think the ears can deal with a lot of noise, but headphones or earbuds is the real hair cell killer!!

As you see in my avatar I have a stern decline in high frequency hearing in my right ear.

BTW. I really wish all of us had our audiograms as avatars.
Kinda let us know who we are talking to. But by no means tell the whole story.

Is your hearing improvements significant? Like tone wise and does music still sound choppy or does it sound crisper?
Oh, much clearer. Also my ability to make out speech and noises in the presence of other noises seems to be much much better. I'm still dealing with a new tinnitus sound/spike from an ear kiss last week, so, I guess I'll see how that turns out.:dunno:

man, I miss listening to The Pixies. On some days "Where Is My Mind" and "Wave of Mutilation" plays over and over inside my head.
Coincidentally enough, Wave of Mutilation came into my head earlier today for some reason. And a couple nights ago before I drifted into sleep, Debaser popped up.
