Solsaem Clinic (Dr. Minbo Shim) Experience

Nothing significant. Just protecting my hearing in noisy environments.
My better half just took out the last stitch, a few minutes ago.

@GlennAz I never once suspected you were making up your experience and this statement is for the rest of the community.

I have independently verified that he in fact is telling the truth 100%.

Please Glenn keep us informed about your progress.

Get good sleep, eat healthy, and perhaps investigate supplements and dietary choices to enhance neuronal growth. Many of us here including myself can offer advice in this regard. Dont get discouraged. It definitely takes time and it's not necessarily linear.

Hmm, I wonder why someone would make up an experience? What would one have to gain? You either went or you didn't.
I went with my better half. I was going to just go solo, but really, I probably would have gotten into trouble a few times without her... because she hears and I don't.
I am glad she came. I don't know how you pulled it off yourself, John.
I would highly recommend anyone going to bring someone, even if you hear well.

I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing or not, but now that I'm back, I am minimizing the use of my powerful hearing aids. I am concerned they are damaging, but I don't know that. Any ideas?

Someone jumped on this forum and claimed Minbo defrauded them through Western Union. They made a couple posts and never offered any proof and I'm 100% sure it was a lie.
I don't know how you pulled it off yourself, John.
It was a slight challenge for sure. I just stayed humble, and fortunately mostly interacted with people patient enough for me to communicate through my translator app on my phone. I did encounter more than one persons that obviously had no patience to help me but whatever. Most of the people that obviously were discriminatory against westerners were older men. I don't judge them either. Korea has been brutalized by foreign invaders, especially the Japanese, for many centuries and I can understand the resentment of their senior generation of external influences eroding their culture.

Dr Shim would not defraud anyone. He has too much character. There's no way. That someone that accused, has to be a liar.

He says it's important to hear things, but protect yourself from loud noise. Drawing the line is what I don't know. Where is the line?
I think they damage too, but I want to make sure I'm stimulating my hearing enough.

My ear kiss spike seems to actually be persisting.

Do you guys think I should try and go back if I can while I'm in the acute stage of this new damage?

Any input would be helpful.

I think if it's just a loss of hearing again and a increase of Tinnitus, maybe - it'd be easier to prevent the insistence of it continuing. But kisses are damaging - does your ear hurt. Are there spasms - does it feel raw and bared?

Did you bring up your latest spike to Dr. Shim? I would think he would be a good judge if that was significant enough to go back for more injections or to just take a tapered prednisone dose pack. Or maybe a local ENT dexamethasone injection.

Well, my hearing aids cost plenty from an audiologist, 5 yrs ago, so hopefully they won't do damage. But my audiologist would do an audio gram every year, and say my hearing hasn't changed. Maybe on the audiogram it hasn't changed, but my word recognition part of the test has deteriorated. Whether to blame it on the hearing aids or not?

no

no

no

just new higher frequency tinnitus and it's jumping back and forth from ear to ear. so strange.
Very strange... like the brain is reprogramming perhaps...

What does Dr. Shim think?

Your kiss spike should subside... you did say it was diminishing. If it's jumping from ear to ear, it probably is not from the kiss, that would probably affect only that one ear... have other patients ever reported this?

If you got them from an audiologist, they are probably reasonably safe. I would personally not worry about it (I don't with my own hearing aid).

Bravery - Stupidity
Nice man - Con man

Ever wondered why you had to go to one of the dodgiest parts of the globe for this treatment, where the vast majority of people have no morals whatsoever. Like you said there is an epidemic of men filming people in toilets in South Korea, it says it all.

75 injections through your ear drum, are you fucking kidding me? I thought you were pretty crazy before I read this thread and now I'm 100 percent certain. You paid 9000 dollars and flew god knows how far and spent two weeks of your life thinking you are smarter than this incurable condition? For which you now have to convince yourself that it was all worth it so you don't feel like a complete idiot.

Not only that but you actually convinced some other random desperate soul to part with 18000 dollars of his money too.

Jesus Christ.

South Korea is a highly advanced first world nation with a very low crime rate and almost no homeless problem.

72, no I'm not.

Yeah if you say so.

Feel better now?

John Paul,
Your words, your logic, your sentiment and the way you expressed it seems juvenile in the sense that it's rash and over the top.

Scientists are experimenting, and this ENT is having a go at cutting edge medical ideas... e.g. Grothfactors, tympanic shots, PRP, etc.

There are so many variables...

Would John's tinnitus naturally fade? As he has mentioned sleep affects it... it fluctuates more and he has less hearing damage than myself or GlennAZ. My tinnitus has always been a constant after a real bad trauma.

I have read and participated in this thread since I joined the forum.
Dr. Shim is obviously seen as a maverick to many.

The methods are "harsh". 72 injections, but this is the beginning of applying scientific ideas and hypothesis to humans... you got to start somewhere, I'm hoping and have always been in the believer camp. I confess I am desperate. But the science looks like there's real potential to a lay person like myself.

I hope John's and Glenn's auditory issues improve for their sake and ours.

Maybe you could fine tune your point a little... it would be more helpful I think... and your intelligence would benefit the general discourse as opposed to a more rant like style.

John hasn't been making up his results. He never experienced the long period of silence that he has prior to going there. Dr. Minbo Shim was proven to be legitimate doctor that even traveled to Stefan Heller's lab for a visit. Do you think Heller and his team was lying about him being a doctor?

John even spent hundreds of hours doing research on the science AND the doctor before he was convinced of going. Both he and Glen came back trusting the doctor, both saying he is brilliant and extremely generous.

Have you not been paying attention? Both have come back with results from something that was scientifically verified.

South Korea is one of the most developed countries in the world, and is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Do not forget that the United States has their own unique problems just as bad, if not worse, than you described. We have had people arrested for being in sex cults, an epidemic of homeless people and crap everywhere, people playing these "knockout" games that nearly kill people, etc. I could go on. Every country has their problems, and we have had some that South Korea doesn't, like mass shootings.

You are just being unnecessarily xenophobic.

You are just being unnecessarily xenophobic.
I think he's just frustrated like the rest of us. I fully understand his reluctance to believe this. Dr. Shim even said he understands why people would be very skeptical. There's like how many treatments coming from different angles being tested right now that are all converging on a cure? I totally understand why people would not only think this is too good to be true but also get mad about it. I know myself, but to many other people here I'm just some random guy on the internet with a tenuous story of being successfully treated for a disease that every ENT in the world except one says there is no treatment for.

Hi John Paul, you clearly know nothing about South Korea, by your rant. Zero.
Did you get the attention you wanted?
I think we should not view John Paul's rant as anything other than an expression of his frustration. He's in this with us.

It's Good Friday.

I'm sure that you noticed the Crucifix in Dr. Shim's clinic in the waiting room. This is a day of reflection and we need to have the same kind of love towards our fellow man and woman that Jesus had for us when He handed Himself over to be tortured and killed, whether you believe that happened or not. I'm not perfect and have been enflamed by my passions many times and am guilty myself. I need forgiveness for the things I've done and therefore I have to extend that same forgiveness to others.

John's statements are his honest feelings. It's not like he is claiming Dr. Shim defrauded him and making up lies.

Hi John, well, you are very gracious toward John Paul. I understand, but whether it's frustration or whatever reason, I don't think it's necessary to attack people, or be nasty in a chat, especially when ones' facts are not even straight.

I, too, believe Jesus died for my sins. Further, I don't believe either that His Name should be used flippantly.

Yes, I saw Dr Shim's crucifix. After every set of injections on me, he held his hands over my ears and prayed over me for a few moments.

I don't know what's so hard to believe about this treatment. I am currently dealing with a disc issue in my spine and I found a sports medicine clinic that offered PRP injections for herniated discs. PRP offered in a metropolitan city. Dr. Minbo Shim is taking a proven treatment and formulated a way to applying it in the ears. Its not like Dr. Minbo Shim invented this crazy unproven therapy that nobody has ever heard of. Its a very legitimate therapy used even in the good ol' USA. Dr. Minbo Shim is an ENT, he sees people with tinnitus suffering and saw what PRP does for sports medicine and said "I want that goo stuff, too. F' this, people need help now" and figured out a treatment because he can and doesn't have to deal with constraints like the US and have to wait another 5 years. I think what he is doing is a much better option than some of these rogue stem cell clinics in the US, doing serious damage to people and the cancer risk is can cause. I have seen some shady ass stem cell clinic ads. And I would rather have 75 injections in my ear any day versus anesthesia, something that flips a switch in our cells and people have died from.

Maybe if Dr. Minbo Shim injected lipoflavinoids instead in peoples ears, then more people would feel it's legitimate.
