South Korean Clinic Treatment (Dr. Minbo Shim)

If my H settles down or stabilizes a bit, I'm flying to Seoul for my birthday next month. I already have everything ready (flights, accommodations, activities) except for my ears. :p If this trip pushes through, I'll swing by that clinic. I'll be with a Korean host/friend so translation shouldn't be an issue.

You will love Seoul Lex. I was offered a job there a couple of years ago - almost took it, but like living in the Middle East for now. The trip will Happen! And I'd be really interested to hear how the clinic shapes up.

I love Seoul! I've been there twice before, in 2015 and 2016. It's one of my favorite cities.

Pre-T and H, I was considering getting some cosmetic procedure done to my jawline. I've always wanted to get it fixed, but I never had the guts to go under the knife for vanity's sake. Nevertheless, I'm quite impressed by the plastic surgeries done in South Korea so I was ready to put my face in their surgeons' hands. In fact, for next month's trip, I was supposed to choose a clinic to perform the operation I was planning to get late this year. Ah, but life has a funny way of changing priorities. I may end up checking clinics like I planned, but for my ears instead of my face. :p

I can only hope that their ear doctors are as amazing as their plastic surgeons.

I'm heading to Ibiza to see Dr.Wilden next week,I'm also about to begin a SC treatment and planned on documenting the whole thing here but this Dr.Shim guy has my attention big time!

Do I go to Thailand or do I go to him?Does his treatment focus only on haircells or does it also focus on the auditory nerve?I'd imagine both as haircells won't work without underlying nerve fibres.I just CAN'T make up my mind whether this guy is legit or not,honestly anyone's opinion is more than welcome as either way I'm going for SC's and this guy might be a better option.

Yeh! Lets hope the ear doctors can help! Wouldn't that just make what will be a great trip so, so much better!
Life's priorities - I was just discussing this with some friends last night. They were asking me about a couple of big shows that I had booked for this month and next, and whether I will still be doing them. I wish!!! Just six weeks ago I was on stages 3 nights a week having a blast - Now it it so low on the priority list. Its all about the ears!! Particularly as I scribe this post and try to deal with the biggest spike I have experienced so far! Ahhhhh!
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you Alexandria.
And Dr.Wilden - not sure Bill - haven't done too much reading there but am sceptical (state of mind at the moment). I was going to travel to a London clinic and spend a stack of well-earned - made enquiries - someone called me from the clinic and suggested that because I am in the first couple of months it would be of little benefit in making the trip and that I should sit the six months to see if my situation improves. She was terrific in her explanations and was the first professional in the field that made sense. May just seems like a long way away. Trying to stay positive - Hopefully my T makes that easier soon!

The clinic in London,was it an LLLT clinic or an ear specialist you were talking to?

Hey Bill,
It was the London Tinnitus Clinic. They were terrific in such that they could well have got me there in a couple of weeks, taken a few thousand pounds and sent me on my way. But the person I spoke to was honest and informative - most of though she cared and I was on the phone to her for over half an hour, and afterward I found some strength and hope in what she had to say. I've hit a massive wall today, but it is the first really horrible day Ive had in a week or so.
I think that because we read and investigate everything possible in terms of relief it is become extremely confusing to know whats best. The search continues.

London Tinnitus Clinic:rockingbanana:

I bet the only thing they are going to suggest is TRT, CBT and a cup of tea and maybe hearing aids/WNG so yes don't waste your time & money

I think the clinic is legitimate. After all that work I put in trying to figure him out, I have begun to believe it significantly.

I have also started to believe the Wilden LLLT. My main question is whether or not I should go with Wilden's treatment first and obtain positive results while waiting to be able to afford the Cheong-Min Clinic. I would be waiting until October for when they have that Sales Festa discount thing.

I actually visited Dr. Wilden in Ibiza in November 2015. ( See previous posts ) I still have T. I did a 10 day therapy in Ibiza and then bought his home laser and have been using it for 30 minutes per day at least 5 days per week. For me the results have been underwhelming and disappointing. But I have the machine and will continue to use it and hope to get improvement. Everyone is different and gets different results.

So now I'm looking into stem cell therapy. I noticed on the previous posts that people were saying a " standard " price is around $6,000. The clinic in Bangkok where ATEOS went charges between $15,000 and $45,ooo USD depending on the treatment:

http://stemcells21.com/stem-cell-treatment-prices/

I believe ATEOS paid $25,000 for his treatment there.

Can anyone shed some light on what the differences are and what you're getting for the higher price?
From what I understand, in the USA there is an FDA ban on the drug that multiplies your stem cells, therefore the treatment in the USA is far less effective because you are getting less stem cells. Maybe that's why US treatments run about $6,000? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did LLLT helped with hyperacusis if you had it ? And distortions ?

Dr. Minbo Shim obviously reacted on the e-mails regarding the worsening of the high frequencies. Look at this posting on the goldnose site: http://goldnose.co.kr/board/index.html?id=updatemed111&no=123

Google translates the text to something like this: "The hearing loss of both high-frequency areas has also improved. (In the middle of treatment, temporary hearing loss in the high frequency area may become worse. The protocol in such cases is to repeat the treatment or measurement [not quite sure from the translation].)

Yeah. Better to have a reaction than not. This is good news.

This just puts more doubt into an already doubt filled head of mine.

You received treatment not long after onset and seen"underwhelming"results,considering the time between onset and treatment you were the perfect candidate for the treatment and yet you seen nothing.

My H onset was January 2014,greatly improved to about 85% in November 2015,I then had a noise insult in November that brought pain into my H.
The pain steadily worsened and worsened until January 2016 when my H worsened along with T suddenly overnight.Two months later and my audiologist worsens me again to severe levels and then in December my ears just decide,screw it let's get worse again for the hell of it and now I'm basically a bed bound cripple.

I honestly don't see this doing anything for me,maybe it's just wishful thinking and false hope but I just fail to see it doing anything this long after onset not to mention the worsenings in between because of complete idiots.

Part of me wonders if I should just skip it and jump straight into Stemcell territory,the efficacy of LLLT seems all over the place,some claim miracles from it where as others claim it done jack all and sadly there seems to be more stories supporting the latter than the former.Its a long trip and a lot of money for something that has an 80% chance of doing sweet nothing.

I already have it booked but now I'm here asking myself if I should even bother:(

Just sounds like someone who got pulled up on something and is now trying to cover his ass.

POTENTIAL PATIENT = Why did these people see worsening of their higher frequencies?I've noticed that their higher frequencies got worse after treatment but your website doesn't acknowledge this?

SHIM = Oh shit....

POTENTIAL PATIENT = Well?

SHIM = It's.....(Shit!Quick think of something).......temporary?

POTENTIAL PATIENT = Ahh ok,so what do you do if this happens to one of your patients,what if he loses the higher frequencies during treatment?

SHIM =Do it again?

POTENTIAL PATIENT = And if that doesn't work?

SHIM = Add.....more?

POTENTIAL PATIENT = Ok,sounds good to me,where do I sign?

SHIM = (Wipes sweat from forehead)

Wouldn't going to Ibiza have a negative impact on your home treatment with Zazzio ?
He told me that it is necessary to wait 2 to 3 months between each treatment session...

LLLT is only backed up by a legitimate study for H so I think it is worthy to try as its your main concern. But Wilden never says anything about H Zazzio seems to be the specialist for this

Well, he also emailed me an example that was a high frequency gain, but loss in lower frequencies.

It's not like he is some sort of secret underground clinic that only a select few know about. I no longer think he is illegitimate, just weird.

Also I emailed someone who did speak Korean, who happened to also be a U.S. lawyer. He thought the clinic "seemed legitimate enough, and worth paying attention, but good to keep on BS detector."

I highly doubt he would be forging this stuff. This genuinely seems like a legitimate place, so he would get into huge trouble if he was full of crap, easy.

The issue with LLLT is that the home lasers are too weak with too little coverage apart from the lucky laser at 808nm so it's hard to get results.
This is why I strongly suggest using the far more powerful LED.

And then LT it's not even a T cure - Wilden claims that you get a 20% improvement in hearing range and maybe some thinning / softening of T at best.

Zazzio only really uses it as a H improvement i think

I have read extremely negative responses on that idea.

@Artemis2K
You mean some actual study or just comments from people who never actually did any high power LT ?

This is a very recent paper that puts together the latest findings from various studies on LLLT - good read

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5066074/#!po=37.3950

Anyway let's keep the discussion on the stem cells -there is enough LLLT talk on the other 3 threads

I'm bewildered by how ready @Artemis2K is to think this guy is legitimate. You should stop saying belief-based things like "I believe in him" before you've actually had the treatment! @bill 112 is completely right saying "Just sounds like someone who got pulled up on something and is now trying to cover his ass."

Impressive is the last one... I could use this guy if he was legit.
I would too but the problem I have with that link above is that all we see is a piece of paper with improvement on it,and that's it.

He could easily just print out these results,take a picture and post an amazing story for all to see without even treating a patient in the first place.

For me,I won't believe it until I or somebody else here actually talks to a former patient who received the treatment and that we can ascertain that whoever this patient is isn't associated with Shim in any way shape or form.

Then and then only will I actually believe these claims.

I am going to wait a bit and see , if this guy turns out to be legit , I will be going.
One more thing , no one knows what happens after 8 k ... bad or otherwise.
