Turmeric with Curcumin Seems to Be Helping

I think you're thinking that turmeric and curcumin is the same thing maybe? 20 grams of turmeric is a standard "high" dose, and only a small part of that is curcumin
I knew they aren't the exact same thing, but I didn't know that was a safe dose. Thanks. I wonder if turmeric is even better than pure curcumin...

There's a lot of active ingredients in turmeric in addition to curcumin, but I haven't studied that at all. I just like to eat whole herbs and not take extracts or pills of active ingredients. CBD is an example. CBD extracts seem to be useless, but a full spectrum extract of hemp works better. CBD and THC is just a part of what the plant contains, and combined they have an entourage effect that makes the CBD work better compared to extracted CBD only. Maybe turmeric is similar, who knows.

I'm one of those hippy-dippy types that feel I have a relationship to mushrooms, herbs, my food that I like to keep a certain way. If I could, I would grow my own turmeric and deepen my relationship to the herb..

I've been deepening my relationship with the blueberry shrub this past week by foraging over 50 kilos :3

What dose did you find optimum?
of curcumin? well, I was taking 12 grams, then went down to 3, now I'm taking 1 gram with spirulina and EGCG. All of these things work on BDNF receptors and do other fancy things with TRKB and stuff.

Turmeric contains about 3 percent turmeric, so you're on a much much higher dose than me

It also interacts with BDNF which is disregulated in the DCN of tinnitus patients. I think that is the causative effect.

Could well be a reason! I haven't researched too much into that area. Tinnitus has a lot of reasons but increasing your circulatory system has been a tried and proven way of reducing and even curing tinnitus. With Curcumin/Tumeric people respond similarly to other aids like NAC/Ginko/flavanoids etc. I've come across a lot of cases of people getting results because of this because they responded positively to the other supplements I listed but settled on Curcumin. The anti-inflammatory benefits are a big plus which attracts a lot of people/

Every way of relieving or curing tinnitus keeps pointing me towards a common reason. I'm still looking into everything but right now I can't hear anything, just the very quiet hum of my computers fan as I type this. I don't want to say its gone but very low when I do hear it. My way might no work for everyone but I'm confident it will help a lot of people with this awful condition. I just need to get all my thoughts together and make a comprehensive post.

Yes, please do. I was recently reading about noise trauma and the DCN. There is an increase in BDNF in noise trauma models. BDNF helps stimulate the release of glutamate, with in turn may be the reason for hyperactivity in the DCN and thus tinnitus.

I will have to look into all of that. I read a lot of information about glutamate building up in the ear after noise trauma and causing damage to the hairs. Some theories suggest glutamate antagonists are effective at lowering tinnitus. Things like NAC and Ibuprofen but also alcohol and certain drugs.

I have to say I have been taking huge doses of turmeric with curcumin recently (+ magnesium and ginger) and after months of ear pain (acoustic trauma last October) it finally went away.

Cool, now start lowering the dose and find a minimum that still gives you the effect. I went from 12,000 mg, to 3,000 mg to 500-1,000 mg.

John you seem to be the curcumin expert on here, did you experience any side effects from taking huge doses of curcumin (apart for the thinning hair)?
I have been feeling slightly dizzy after taking huge doses!

Yes. The soles of my feet, my palms, and fingernails turned yellow.

Also, my hair has stopped thinning.

I have been taking 4,000 mg for the last ten days. Lowering the dose sounds like a good idea.

I think I'll take the liberty of quoting from the article I linked to above, since it connects in so closely with the above quote:

Ultimately, the goal is not to wait to have such a serious health problem that you have to force yourself to take a 'heroic dose' of any herb or food extract. Better is to use small amounts in culinary doses in combination with ingredients that synergize on a physiochemical/informational and sensual basis (producing the all important vitamin P [pleasure] as well!). Recently we actually featured a study that showed culinary doses of rosemary helped improve memory whereas higher 'heroic' doses impaired it!

I think the message is that sometimes "heroic" doses of something is sometimes a good idea, but that "moderation" is usually best in the long-term.

after months of ear pain (acoustic trauma last October) it finally went away.

Mucho congratulations! (y)

I'm jumping on Curcumin train because of its ability to increase BDNF and dopamine and serotonin for depression, also because of its ability to boost the regeneration of brain stem cells. Since most of hidden hearing loss drugs like Otonomy for synapses are based on BDNF and NT-3 I will try to combine Curcumin which increases BDNF with Astaxanthin which is known to increase NT-3 and combine it with intermittent fasting which also increases BDNF to heal as much damage to my synapses and auditory neurons as humanly possible and report the results, if I will have any, on this forum.

Just ordered this for 12 month supply:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nu-Nutriti...rds=curcumin&qid=1566803009&s=gateway&sr=8-11

Here are just some of the potential benefits of Curcumin and Turmeric, I think it's natural, safe and really worth giving a shot:

Hope I get some results for my tinnitus, hidden hearing loss and potentially my depression.

Praying for you...
I think it will help and I think it will lift your depression.
Good job... Take it after eating or with food as I understand.
Good luck.

@Lane... I have been taking 1200mg of Curcumin with Bioperine and black pepper extract as it increases the absorption of the Curcumin, that"s what it states on the bottle, Bioglan brand. I have only been on this for three days so far. Seems like some people are getting good results from it:)

Thanks for posting the link about it being good for the brain...

Will keep you posted if it helps my poor damaged brain :( hopefully miracles do happen.
