....Then there is stuff like this. Apparently after reading the write-up this guy thinks tinnitus only affects 2 million people. Who is going to get motivated by that. Thanks for spreading this misinformation buddy.

EVERYONE SHOULD tweet to the following people:I couldn't take it, I had to correct this guy on Twitter. Hopefully he understands the scope of the problem. He's a managing editor and putting the wrong numbers out there.
Correcting people in a kind manner is a-okay, so they can learn and understand your plight. But you don't want to be angry or revolt against them - they're the people who have a bigger voice than we do.EVERYONE SHOULD tweet to the following people:
@GideonGil (Managing Editor of STAT News)
@cooney_liz (Writer of the poor Michigan STAT Madness article)
@rickberke (Executive Editor of STAT News)
SHOW that you are NOT PLEASED!
I agree. Don't troll them or get abusive as this reflects very badly on the community and doesn't help anyone.Correcting people in a kind manner is a-okay, so they can learn and understand your plight. We don't want to be silenced or pushed aside because someone informed someone in a tactless matter, so if anyone does this, don't go ape shit.
I politely corrected @GideonGil on Twitter. I simply stated numbers that were more in line with the truth. You would think a managing editor would at least fact check his own website and tweets before sending them out.Correcting people in a kind manner is a-okay, so they can learn and understand your plight. Derp, Thanks for posting this. People are finding their way to make comments. Stay cool, cats! (Sorry, been hanging out with @Jazzer for a bit. ) - TCYou can also make a comment or two in the comment section below the article itself on the STAT site.
I read your comment, very kind and open.I wrote a comment, as I am also a bit disappointed in the outcome of this contest.
Oh - I suppose it's my fault !!Derp, Thanks for posting this. People are finding their way to make comments. Stay cool, cats! (Sorry, been hanging out with @Jazzer for a bit. ) - TC

DG, I tried to leave a reply thanking you for your comment on the STAT site, but keep getting a message that I've already left a message. So, I'll like to thank you here.I wrote a comment, as I am also a bit disappointed in the outcome of this contest.
I would also email the author of the article:I hope STAT are reading them, there are good suggestions being put forward.
Not yet. It's not clear to me who might be wanting to take it on. I'm also thinking, should it be an ASAP thing, or be done at the same time when we hopefully have Dr. Shore for our podcast later this year? It could complement the podcast interview nicely. But either way, if nobody steps up to the plate, then I and @Hazel will just add it to our never-ending list of tasks and attempt to take care of it ourselves (in that case it'll probably coincide with the podcast).Did anyone re-write the STAT News write-up???
I never heard of this idea, I don't think, at least not to an extent where I can understand. What is the idea? Not yet. It's not clear to me who might be wanting to take it on. I would be happy to have a go at writing it, but unfortunately I'm not very science-minded so I doubt my article would end up being any more in depth than the original STAT article...Not yet. That's my problem too, I can write really well, but my issue is and have always been... fact-based statistics and such. Essays have always been the bane of my existence.I would be happy to have a go at writing it, but unfortunately I'm not very science-minded so I doubt my article would end up being any more in depth than the original STAT article...
Personally, I think our proposed article would have more impact if it was released now, but it would need to include some up to date info from Dr. Shore and team or we won't really be adding much substance. So if that's only possible with the podcast, it would probably be better to wait until then.
