I'll just add here that the Editors' Pick - the Whitehead Institute - was 15 paragraphs in length, two of which were long paragraphs about the competition itself.
Compare that to the supposed winner, Michigan, and you'll find they only received 8 paragraphs, and quite bizarrely, the losers Utah, received 7. Of the winners' article, 4 paragraphs were about the STAT competition again.
It's almost as if they ran out of things to say about Susan Shore's work so decided to add material about Utah to pad it out or something. Why bother having a final round if both universities are going to get an equal write-up anyway?
In conclusion, it appears that the Editors' Pick had twice the word count compared to Susan Shore's. The Michigan article was circa 450 words which is really quite measly.

In the meantime, I'm calling them out on Twitter. My account there is a personal one and isn't affiliated with Tinnitus Talk so this forum won't be getting in trouble. But I'm already calling them out. I've had enough of this kind of crap and I will not take it.
I just lost more hearing over the weekend and while I'm in agony and have no quality of life these people are pushing tinnitus aside AGAIN while sitting on their thumbs. They should be ashamed.

Then there is stuff like this. Apparently after reading the write-up this guy thinks tinnitus only affects 2 million people. Who is going to get motivated by that. Thanks for spreading this misinformation buddy.

Correcting people in a kind manner is a-okay, so they can learn and understand your plight. But you don't want to be angry or revolt against them - they're the people who have a bigger voice than we do.
We don't want to be silenced or pushed aside because someone informed someone in a tactless matter, so if anyone does this, don't go ape shit.

Can we write a message to them as a community?
Not yet. It's not clear to me who might be wanting to take it on. I'm also thinking, should it be an ASAP thing, or be done at the same time when we hopefully have Dr. Shore for our podcast later this year? It could complement the podcast interview nicely. But either way, if nobody steps up to the plate, then I and @Hazel will just add it to our never-ending list of tasks and attempt to take care of it ourselves (in that case it'll probably coincide with the podcast).
I never heard of this idea, I don't think, at least not to an extent where I can understand. What is the idea?
I would be happy to have a go at writing it, but unfortunately I'm not very science-minded so I doubt my article would end up being any more in depth than the original STAT article...
Personally, I think our proposed article would have more impact if it was released now, but it would need to include some up to date info from Dr. Shore and team or we won't really be adding much substance. So if that's only possible with the podcast, it would probably be better to wait until then.
That's my problem too, I can write really well, but my issue is and have always been... fact-based statistics and such. Essays have always been the bane of my existence.
