  • It gets better. The ringing doesn't rule me anymore. It's there it's loud its a part of me. But thank God the fear is gone. Better days

I'm definitely less bothered these days but I'd still kill for something that keeps my T from fluctuating by the hour

I feel the same way. I'm completely adjusted to it now I'd say. Hope you're well buddy.
Officially 6 months since onset. Mild acceptance at best. Still quite bothersome. All day.. every day. At least sleep has improved. YOLO!
Took my son to see Godzilla vs Kingkong! Glad I took plugs! Awesome Movie. Very Loud! #protectyourself #livealittle
At this point I don't think the T volume changes.. merely my perception of the volume. Highly dependent upon environment and stress level.
May be sabotaging myself. Trying to enjoy previous habits got me spiking a bit. I know.. I know.. 'stupid is as stupid does'. Forest Gump

    What kind of hobbies?

The kind some T sufferers would frown upon. I'll leave it at that. ;)
Just another T-eriffic Saturday night! Evenings are always annoyingly loud or at least precieved that way... another day in paradise.
@twa started Journaling about 3 weeks from onset.. I've actually gauged my progress on less but more positive entries.
It hurts my heart that other can not at least enjoy low volume entertainment. Please don't be too hard on yourselves. Much Love!
@Steph1710 Music and Podcasts are essential to my sanity.. I cannot.. Will not.. stop. Music stays at or below comfort level always.

If you are getting T spikes after these music/podcast sessions, you are playing with fire.
    Steph1710
@Bill Bauer, me, personally, I don't ever have spikes from sound. Also, I only listen to music whilst wearing earplugs, and I mostly listen to it when I'm working outside. I also play it through my Bose speakers which are very good quality. :)

Oh, and if I think my ears aren't enjoying a certain frequency, I soon turn it down or off.

@Bill Bauer fortunately I never get spikes from music either. I understand the sentiment. My audiologist suggested that my T might get worse after returning the hearing aids I couldn't afford a few days ago. Whether that is true or he is just disappointed about not making a sale. Idk. I refuse to be a slave to this incessant noise though.
Must manage perceived volume.. had to return the hearing aids today. Skeptical of aid help. Or if tolerance improved. Either way.. looking^

If I didn't have hearing loss, I'd return mine. I keep wondering (worrying!) if they are worsening my tinnitus.
Hurry Up And Wait... On the cusp of month 4 now. Coping better and not downward spiraling anymore. T is still constant.. life goes on.
3 1/2 months later.. tone and pitch remain steady. Tolerance much improved. Steady we go... baby steps.

Hopefully turn into giant steps. I wish I got this when I was like 50 or something but not 15 :(

Kinda same here, except that I am almost 4 weeks behind you. Sursum corda!
Took the family tubing and ice-skating yesterday. Was a good distraction. Wish that worked for everyone here. Never a dull moment with T.
@Orions Pain Have you tried crickets? They are almost as annoying as the T. Yet I've learned to almost enjoy the chirpy little bastards!
    O
I have :( any audio from a speaker flares my face/ear pain badly. Thank you though

Sorry to hear that brother. I'm such a puss I can't imagine have pain accompanied tinnitus. Stay strong man.
Played some FFX Remake today.. tolerated it ok. It's a hard life for a gamer with T. No more FPS for this guy.

I'd recommend Subnautica; no guns in sight. Buuuut you might want to avoid if you have thalassophobia.
Uncomfortably Comfortable.. Excitedly Anxious.. Obnoxiously Noisy.. Neverending Nervousness.. Obsessively Compulsive.. Sleep Deprived Daily.

    Tell me about it.

Would love to have some nootropic of some sort that just allows your brain to *chill* without messing with the necessary functions. It honestly seems like so much of the problem just deals with overexcitation.
Can someone pull the T over and let me out. Its been fun and all but I'd like to go home now and get some sleep. Does humor help? Idk... :/

I'm with you there. This has certainly been an experience of which I no longer wish to be a part. When things calm down, I will most certainly have a better appreciation of life. This all has trivialized a great majority of my depressive triggers from before. Quality of life is of utmost importance.

Certainly interesting indeed, and a lot of what he said rings (sorry!) true, but he also takes a bit of a "doctor good, supplement scary" approach, especially with that last line. He doesn't seem to understand how many ENTs/audiologists don't know/care about the condition and can't really consult with you anyway on supplement strategies.
@Drachen Good luck with the ENT today. Fingers crossed you'll find some relief bud.

How I wish that were the case. If you're interested, I updated my introduction thread with how it went and how today is going. Not feeling too hot, but I appreciate your warmth.
