  • I had a brain zap while drifting to sleep and it spiked my tinnitus a lot, have a new electric tone. Anyone else had this issue? Is it LC

    :(

I have experienced this many times and I hate it. I will doze off for a second and then wake up to listen if there is any hissing sound that gradually gets louder by the second. At that point, I know I'm going to have a terrible night. I developed insomnia because I was afraid to fall asleep.
    (4) To find out what exact street it's driving on. I can't go outside to check when it happens suddenly for a few seconds due to how loud
    (3) I'm thinking of putting a wireless camera up in a bush or somewhere to capture when it happens and find out what car it is. I just need
    (2) Other than wearing earmuffs inside 24/7, what can I do to find out which car it is and have them stop? WWYD in this situation?
    L along the way
Hmm difficult, personally i put earplugs in my ears when at home sometimes. But if that car is there regularly, maybe it be good to try to check out, and explain about your t. There are no black or white answers i guess.. it's difficult, personally i'd just start with hearing protection

I'd personally give it some time, but if the problem persists, i'd be checking around the area, maybe ask some people around.. find a way to find out, if it is a real bugger. Other than that, i personally would be more of the type to just wear hearing aides, and not get involved too much if not nessesary
    (1) Insanely loud car revving in neighborhood. Way over 100 decibels. I am getting spikes from it while being indoors with windows closed.
Why do I have so many life ruining health issues?
    L along the way
Pfft.. sorry and same here.. i don't wanna be egocentrical and always come back to me, but yeah well.. it's experience that can be shared. Lived an unhealthy lifestyle from 10 years of smoking (a lot). My lungs feel bad, and there is the t.. my body feels just so uncomfortable :(.. hopefully it may heal with time
Suddenly woke up with blaring T in my right ear, no cause. Will this pass?
Anyone know how I would clean Peltor X4A? I dropped them underneath my bed, the last thing I need is an ear infection
#2 And my vertigo has reduced by around 70% since the IV fluids and figuring out that my heart/POTS is the problem. I'm truly thankful
    BrOKeN_1
He'll Ya.. Its hard to be thankful for s**t these days. So good effort: )

Glad you are on the mend
    Juliane
So happy to read good news from you!
#1 I may be going through hell right now, but I need to appreciate what I DO have so far. COVID hasn't seemed to give me a permanent spike
Officially diagnosed with severe POTS. My HR jumped from 85 to 145 from standing for 30 seconds. Protect from COVID guys, it's a life ruiner
Covid is a life ruiner. I have POTS now. I can't stand without my HR spiking like crazy up to around 140. My life is double over now
Ended up in the ER today due to crazy HR spikes. Lots of loud noises there, tinnitus is spiked now, not sure what to do
I think I've broken the world record for the amount of praying in 72 hours the amount of praying I've been doing
    BrOKeN_1
I keep praying for miracles myself. Mostly my prayers just feel empty now.. like talking to a wall. Its hard not too loose faith in all of this. I imagine most people with chronic conditions feel this way. Meditation can help some.
    gameover
I did the same over the early months which led me to conclusion there isn't anyone to pray to. Or he is deaf or does not give a fuck. Amounts to the same.
    BrOKeN_1
@gameover Yea that's pretty much the jyst of it. It's not even that I don't think God exists.. I just don't think God interfers with the condition of men. Whether that's to our benefit some how I'll never know. Not til I've shuffled off this mortal coil anyways.
This is too much. My tinnitus is increasing as my vertigo worsens, something is going on. Covid ruined me.
    Juliane
Please give it time. I know it IS horrible but time is a healer
    kingsfan
You should probably go get checked out if you have the means.

You could have a secondary infection in your middle ear from covid, like labyrinthitis.
Can finally say I came across something worse than tinnitus for me, vertigo.
    Jammer
I feel you. I've had positional vertigo three times. Most have resolved within 2 days. One lasted more than a week. I get nauseous and puke every time.
    cyberspace
@Jammer what did you take to get relief? any emergency rescue medications?
    sakrt
Do you have Betahistamines? There's over counter antivert (anti-motion tabs) which do cause sedation. Benedryl. Sometimes anti histamines may also help too @cyberspace
Why do my worries always come true? I'm an expert at predicting things. These doctors always gaslight me that im wrong yet I'm not most time
    Juliane
I gave up relying on doctors years ago. I only contact them if I need them for something very specific. I view them as consultants, they are most definitely NOT healers of anything.
    crescentsky
IMO & my exp w/docs, going to a doc is the same as going to get my palm read for 5 dollars.
    BB23
Diazepam seems to spike me. Is this normal?
    RunningMan
@Juliane Also have read horror stories about antidepressant use and withdrawal, here on TinnitusTalk forum as well as elsewhere. I started having stomach pain right after starting an SSRI, switched to a different one, stomach pain got better temporarily, then worsened after a few more weeks, quit SSRI fast taper after 7 weeks, and still have stomach pains / sounds over a month later after last tapered dose.
    Juliane
@cyberspace Honestly - does it matter? I know medicine help some people but since tinnitus is something we need to learn living with (there is no cure) I just don't see the benefit as almost any drug can potentially worsen tinnitus and produce new symptoms. Unless life threathening symptoms, I would stay away from ALL drugs. Just not worth it.
    Juliane
And don't forget that if you are unfortunate enough to be harmed badly by a drug, doctors will do anything they can to deny any responsbility at all. You are basically on your own.
Took meclizine for vertigo emergency. Huge spike
    Juliane
How is your vertigo? Like standing on a boat or more as if your head is spinning?
    cyberspace
@Juliane I get waves of both, it all started after covid and I don't know what to do, neither meclizine or diazepam is working
    Juliane
I know it's hard but would suggest waiting it out. I know people who had vertigo for many months after covid. It eventually improved. With T I would stay away from new medicine
If you have tinnitus put 110% effort into maintain good health, getting other health issues makes this much harder
    crescentsky
I tell myself this too, but can't seem to get back to my normal diet and exercise routine since I gotten T - 21 months.
Crying a lot. I'm screwed. All the tests and things I'd need to do along with medications etc to progress in long covid is risky for my T…
Someone please tell me if meclizine will spike T. Having intense long covid vertigo
    kingsfan
I saw it on an ototoxic list, but I do take those with a grain of salt.

A lot of meds on that list only temporarily spike tinnitus, or only spike it if you take colossal doses.
And for anything I take to try and relieve long covid symptoms, I'll have to worry about it spiking T. Someone tell me how to navigate this.
There is literally nothing left in my life except suffering now. Tinnitus + long covid everyday, torturous loud neighbors.
    L along the way
Sorry...and it sounds so familiar to me... i tell myself.. to just go day by day, take as much rest as possible, eat healthy, just distract myself sometimes, and try to go easy.. i just hope things can heal with time..
