Hmm difficult, personally i put earplugs in my ears when at home sometimes. But if that car is there regularly, maybe it be good to try to check out, and explain about your t. There are no black or white answers i guess.. it's difficult, personally i'd just start with hearing protection

I'd personally give it some time, but if the problem persists, i'd be checking around the area, maybe ask some people around.. find a way to find out, if it is a real bugger. Other than that, i personally would be more of the type to just wear hearing aides, and not get involved too much if not nessesary

To reassure you, I experienced spikes 4-5 times a week for eight years, but they always decrease. It's your nerve sending signal once it calms down, and so will your T. Lay off the salt. It will make a difference and work on your stress, sleep and anxiety, All will cause spikes.

You should probably go get checked out if you have the means.

@Juliane Also have read horror stories about antidepressant use and withdrawal, here on TinnitusTalk forum as well as elsewhere. I started having stomach pain right after starting an SSRI, switched to a different one, stomach pain got better temporarily, then worsened after a few more weeks, quit SSRI fast taper after 7 weeks, and still have stomach pains / sounds over a month later after last tapered dose.

@cyberspace Honestly - does it matter? I know medicine help some people but since tinnitus is something we need to learn living with (there is no cure) I just don't see the benefit as almost any drug can potentially worsen tinnitus and produce new symptoms. Unless life threathening symptoms, I would stay away from ALL drugs. Just not worth it.

And don't forget that if you are unfortunate enough to be harmed badly by a drug, doctors will do anything they can to deny any responsbility at all. You are basically on your own.
