  • Hey Drone have u habituated? Newbie here struggling 2 1/2 mo in. High Frequency reactive T that I can physically feel. Thanks
    Drone Draper
When I first posted here, the BTA had a line on their website that said there wasn't a strong correlation between tinnitus symptoms and the reaction to it. Utter, utter lies.
    Drone Draper
There's a world of difference between dealing with light hissing and the cacophony of signals that were raging at me in 2018/2019. I remember sitting in a quiet meeting room with colleagues and I could hear an undulating alarm-style sound over their discussion. I thought "I can't possibly live with this".
    Drone Draper
I'm planning on putting together a video of sorts on my tinnitus experience, I will post it here when I do.

Nobody can guarantee that your tinnitus gets better, but it honestly can. I pray we one day have better treatments for this than hearing aids and masking sound pillows. Until such time, please keep the faith and please keep speaking with fellow sufferers.
Tinnitus anniversary today. I'm doing so much better than I was. Hang in there, newbies. You can recover. Have faith. x
Neuromodulatin' while the haters be hatin'
    Drone Draper
I haven't used Lenire since Christmas though, it's so draining. The thing is so dull to listen to and I've moved offices, so I can't do it at work.
    Bill Bauer
Does this mean that you don't think that Lenire is the reason for your improvement?
    Drone Draper
Good question. I think Lenire has helped, but it truly is hard to say how much. I have made massive lifestyle changes in the last 14 months, I've not been to a concert or nightclub in that time and I muff up in the gym.
So, I'll ask since no one else will, how's your T.
    Bob den Hartog
He's not on here as much anymore, but I chatted to him this week. He's still improving, except for some bad moments. His T is a sort of white noise nowadays. He's getting Neuromod, but his T got to such an improvement that he could wait till Neuromod was available more close to home.
    Drone Draper
    Bob is right.
Friends are going to an all-day indoor metal festival. Miss them, but not a snowball's chance in hell I'd go! I've warned them about T.
    InfiniteLoop
Your friends are buying tickets to a lottery that has a lifetime of torture as the main prize. Chances for the main prize are relatively low. Some might collect the collateral damage later in life.
    Ken219
I never heard about 'T' until I got it. Not sure people realise the severity of 'T' you can only warn them. on a selfish note the more the merrier it appears through the years research has stepped up for hearing problems. Lets hope they find an effective treatment
Tones are stable today. Angry thinking of how patronising my ENT was 6 months ago about habituation when it was an undulating alarm sound.
    GSC
I had so many tones come and go. I think I'm at a stable point too finally.
    Drone Draper
The difference between wild fluctuation and a stable 'doooot' is night and day.
    Ken219
Before internet and didn't know to ask questions I went to an ENT that didn't even warn me about noise exposure I called him on it ask for my medical records he refused then I threaten to go to the state he sent me copies (back than it was a paper trail) He doctored the medical records warn to loud noise.
Hi there, may i please ask you how manual cleaning is carried out. I know there is microsuction and irrigation, but what is manual cleaning?
    Bill Bauer
They use tools such as a curette to scrape the wax out. Go to images.google.com and search for "curette ear tool"
    Drone Draper
Bauer is correct. They use a curette, which is like a small loop and they scoop it out, essentially.
Right ear wax removal today. Audiologist suggested microsuction, I shut that down and demanded manual cleaning. Thanks TT for teaching me.

This is exactly MPP's mission in action, teaching people not to make the same mistakes. Mentally ill laymens on a tinnitus forum are more useful then anyone gives us credit.
    Drone Draper
    100%! MPP >>>>> ALL>> Witchdoctor >> ???? >>> BTA.
The science is coming, honestly. Until then it's a test of will, and coping techniques are deployed daily. Mine is severe, iam not giving up, atleast today I didn't. Not gonna tomorrow. Your strong, take care friend
In my life, I've broken ribs, teeth, strained muscles, damaged nerves and burst my appendix. Tinnitus is worse than all of them.
    Drone Draper
@HeavyMantra - you should never spar martial arts with people who are wanting to go pro if you don't. I was going to work with bruises and black eyes like I was in Fight Club.

There's an MMA fighter called Renato Sobral, he recently said he can no longer walk in a straight line due to all the blows he's taken.

    @Tanni - thanks. Hope you're well :)

Yes, brain trauma can lead to things like severe hormonal changes, personality changes, suicide, irrational violence. All with delayed onset up to several years.
    Drone Draper
Absolutely. The older I get, the more I worry when I see bad knockouts
So many good days lately. Sleeping like a baby. Hoping the same for all of us until FX-322 is released.
My workplace rival, who caused the stressful period where I developed T, handed in his resignation. Feels good, but I'd rather be T free.
    Agrajag364
Always a great day when that happens tho
    Drone Draper
Indeed. When you play the game of corporate drones, you win or you die!
Doing well, tinnitus is stable and easier. I will reply to the DMs, I'm not ignoring you! Have a great weekend, hope it's a quiet one!
    T
Gonna see if the spike goes down, which hopefully it will as it's only been a couple of weeks. If not, I suppose I'll have to go back on it. Some do say that Mirtazapine actually suppresses Tinnitus, so it may have been making it quieter all this time. No rush for you to come off it though if you're doing well with it - it is great for anxiety.
    Drone Draper
I'm sorry to hear that. I do get quite hungry, to be honest, I've gained about a stone since being on it. Some of that is muscle, but I can see my muffin top is bigger, lol.
    Drone Draper
Yes, when I went on I did read a case study where a guy was on, reported a lowering in tinnitus, then tapered off, reported an increase and now is on it for life, basically.

I don't know that I want to be on an antidepressant for life, but it's a single pill I take 1 hour before going to bed. It's not like an insulin shot or anything like that.
Turned down go-karting, a concert and a club night this weekend. No regrets. Tinnitus is low and I'm sleeping well.
    S
How did T go down? Any clue?
    Drone Draper
    I think

    1. Radical lifestyle change. Used to hammer my ears with music at the gym, concerts and clubs. No more.
    2. Plugging up in loud environments I can't or won't avoid like the gym.
    3. Just giving my brain time to adjust to the new, lower sensory input. I think a sudden shift due to noise trauma was the cause of my T. I think my brain is getting used to it.
Moved offices again. My T is easily masked by the din of colleagues talking. This is a good thing.
    Drone Draper
In turn - yes, yes, no. It's a much nicer room though.
    New Guy
While I'm not a corporate guy that tells me everything I need to know about where you stand. Sounds like you're doing ok and on your way up!
    Drone Draper
Haha. Honestly, aside from T, everything else has been moving in the right direction the last 6 months or so. I'm even going to get to do some fun stuff in the next months, like colleague and customer co-design workshops. Hope all is well with you, Sir.
Sleeping better now. I have aged so much in the last 4 months. Hoping I can undo some damage now I'm back on Team Sleep.
Friend just asked me to come see his new band on Thursday. I support friends, but hell no! He doesn't wear plugs, I implored him to get some
    Y
I told my friends about my situation and they are aware of what tinnitus is now but they still seem to continue their normal life with headphones, club and concerts.. I feel like people doesn't UNDERSTAND and CARE what Tinnitus is until it hits them.. it's not just my friends but majority. People aren't aware of how big of a role it plays in people's life...
My right ear crackles when I run. ONLY when I run. Does anyone else on TT experience this? Pls comment below.
    Strife_84
I noticed some crackling while I took few running steps outside. But I do have sinus problems anyway so..
    Drone Draper
I do have some EDT in my right ear, I just find it odd that the cracking is only when I run.
Low T this morning. People who say volume, pitch and tone of T doesn't matter for habituation is wrong, patronising and at worst a liar.
"Patients' basic needs have remained the same. That is, they don't want to be patients. They want to be healthy". All of my yes.
    Hey,
i have a question do you stil have that alarm sound? i have that too, for almost a year now. at the beginning it was so loud. now its sometimes gone. you have any idea what it is? i never heard anyone else about a similar sound.

    thanks
    S
I've read on here about a girl with fire alarm T that went away after 10 years
    Drone Draper
Yes, I do. It's sometimes sharper, right now it's very hissy. Sometimes it is gone, but changed into something else. I wish someone could give a steer. The alarm is only in my ear with ETD (eustachian tube dysfunction), so I guess you could has k your ENT to dhe test on you.
Bad and good days. Trying to stay positive and thankful for what is good, but it's so tough at times. Thinking of all my fellow T sufferers.
Tinnitus still an issue for sleeping, but I can focus on work now without panic. The T equivalent of Eat, Pray, Love is Plug, Pray, Heal.
    Strife_84
That is very good. I still cannot work/hobby. Why I couldn't choose something else than music...would make this much easier.
    Drone Draper
Music is very important. I still can't really listen to music without worry. I'm thankful it's not my job.
