Hello, unfortunately I'm back after a long time away.
I initially got tinnitus more than 1 year ago due to acoustic trauma after a loud night out. It's had a lot of ups and downs since then and there was a point where I'd actually habituated.
However I am refraining from literally everything...
Hi. I really messed up. I forgot my ear plugs going to a friend's birthday which got very loud at times. I measured it to be around 85 dB for the most part but occasionally got up to 90-92 dB. I was there for 2 hours and not inside the whole time. I was also not very worried since I have...
Hi,
So after 1 year of the same low pitch tinnitus, I recently got a very high pitch that is constant but seems to fluctuate (kind of like a electronic sound that is always there but is static). It's very hard to ignore and although my old pitch seems to be gone -- or at least I can't hear it...
Hi,
So even though the last week had its ups and downs with a few spikes, I spent a couple of nights in the past month in almost quietness. My tinnitus went from being unbearable at times to moderate to almost inaudible within the last year. It drained me a lot in every way and I'm still trying...
So, I don't want to say you should or shouldn't do this. if you are going to feel super anxious maybe it's not worth it. I went to one concert since I got T, and it was a very small venue with barely any speakers and slow folk music. It didn't give me a spike. I made sure to stay away from the...
Hi. I had pretty big spikes from unprotected exposure to fire alarms, ambulance sirens etc. but none of them gave me long lasting spikes. In fact my longest spikes are usually from anxiety
My left ear always feels clogged with a wind noise but it gets much much worse when I'm congeseted/have a cold and drastically improves when I get better. Mucinex helps... Hope you feel better!
I experienced this twice when I slept with earplugs in (although they were foam). I had pain, some drainage and a huge spike. It went away completely a week afterwards. Hope this helps!
I did get my ears checked though in case there was any physical damage because I was worried about the...
No it's just the right ear. But usually it's my right ear that spikes.. I also have the flu and some congestion currently so I was mid-spike. It's hard to tell rn what's what
Hi, I was wondering how you have been after this incident. I also recently received a kiss and hence a a high pitched addition to my existing low pitched tinnitus. But with my base low pitch, I am very used to it now and it's become very unintrusive since it began.
Have you gone to an audiologist though. Also is it intrusive. Mine is a super subtle but very high pitched addition to my baseline relatively low pitched tinnitus.
I too am experiencing this at the moment. I was wondering what the latest situation was regarding this? Did the prednisone help? How bad was your spike?
Hi,
Last night I received a kiss on the ear (by accident) and although it was quite loud I didn't experience immediate changes in tinnitus or any sensation of fullness. However, when I got back to a quieter setting I noticed that a new tone in my tinnitus had gotten louder. It wasn't a...
Hi,
I was recently exposed to a loud street musician who decided to blast to his microphone super close to my ear as I was trying to quickly pass him. It has now been 3 days and I traveled right after which is usually no problem. I am not really experiencing a big spike (however there is a mild...
Ok I'm just trying to figure out if the momentary exposure to the musicians voice through the microphone would have caused damaged and might need to be treated with steroids.
I'm not experiencing fullness after the incident. I had experienced some after my initial acoustic trauma and was treated with steroids. However there is definitely no fullness this time and my audiogram (a couple days before this incident) was basically perfect.
Hi,
So around 36 hours ago I was passing my a narrow street and as I passed him this street musician, who was playing at a rater safe volume decided to come near me and basically scream in my ear (with a microphone) I'm not sure how loud it was but I'm assuming it was above like 130 dB (maybe...
Yeah I feel like there is almost always background noise that I succesfully cancel out because I don’t think about it or have anxiety around it so why not this as well.
But all in all I feel like it wasn't the bone conduction test, I'm relatively reassured by that now. It was more than 48 hrs after the exposure when the peak happened and I feel like physical fatigue and exposure to the loud working space probably has more to do with it.
Ohhhh I also pop my ears a lot. Is that bad too?
I'M DOING SO MANY THINGS WRONG. But I don't know how much more careful I can be and continue to exit the house. And also my left ear feels clogged all the time now since T and I just got in the habit of like popping it multiple times a day (kind...
That's good to hear.
I can see how some tests are dangerous, like when I had the acoustic reflex test it was so painful but that didn't even cause a spike.
So I'm wondering do you guys think it's possible for me to heal my tinnitus with the right mindset.
I'm just having a pretty bad time coping right now (although I should be used it, it's been 6 months). I do have a diagnosis for moderate depression and anxiety. My anxiety is severely worsened...
That's so weird. Do you know how it works and why it may be dangerous? There are several other things that may have been the cause of the spike so I don't want to necessarily point a finger at that. Especially since the first night there was no sign of a spike, but I noticed it the second night...
None of these.. Just an audiogram and the bone conductance test. Were not too loud to bother me. I did get a reflex test in the past though, it didn't do anything to me.
PS: I had gotten all the tests (including the pressure test) before in my primary audiologist. Nothing had happened to worsen it. I just went again to a different one (because I am away) because I was feeling a weird pressure in my left ear and I felt it may be related to sinus issues. I wasn't...
@Bill Bauer I feel like you may have experience with this kind of thing. Do you think it's likely to have given me a peak ( I will note that it was quiet enough to not be uncomfortable at the time so I didn't worry too much)
do you think the bone conductance test heightened your Tinnitus. I got onne done and it wasn't loud at all but the audiologist was incredibly rude to me even when I didn't want a tympanic test. Now I feel that my T has gotten much louder and I wonder if it can be due to the bone conductance.
It was super quiet but he didn't tell me what the test was and I got kind of stressed about it because I know there are test that make tinnitus worse. But I guess bone conduction shouldn't be one of them
Hi everybody,
I am having a spike at the moment which is my first substantial spike. It is finals week so I feel like it may be due to stress but I was wondering if it could at all be linked to my most recent visit to the audiologist.
So I got some tests done that I hadn't before. I didn't...
I wouldn’t think so. It might be related to you getting sick. Don’t think the worst of it. Short term episodes especially when you are sick are probably nothing to worry about.
Sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you are better. Do you think it was acoustic trauma from the sound or...
So a couple of things happened today that may have caused this change in volume but also a lot of change in the pitch:
I'm sick. Some sort of throat infection but I guess a lot of fluid build up everywhere. Maybe my Eustachian tubes? My hearing is definitely muffled.
I have been taking Mucinex...
I think I have something like tonsillitis not really the flu but def giving me a pretty big spike. Mine started with acoustic trauma but I believe became so persistent with anxiety. Anyway I'd hope I'll be fine after I recover.
This thread makes me feel better. I’m currently almost at 5 months and was similar to you. Although recently I got the flu and I feel like I’m at square one. It got much worse... do you mask or do you think you habituated
I get a front seat (usually they are understanding and switch me up when I tell them I have an ear issue). I have some pressure earplugs that are good for takeoff and landinng and regular earplugs for the rest. You’ll be fine. Don’t let people scare you
Good diet healthy body health mind and probably just a better approach to T. You’ll be ok, look most of us made it through (not cured but ok, happy, getting by).
Well with me every spike’s been temperory honestly. Some longer than others. Anxiety definitely gives me the worst spikes. Currently have the flu which has also been a pretty bad spike but I guess it’ll fade out once I’m better
Thanks! Good luck to you too.
Unfortunately I'm in university with a large campus and it seems like fire alarms go off more often than I'd expect in lecture halls (an additional sirens of campus police, fire trucks etc.). Hard to avoid while still trying to go to class :(
Hi,
I've recently been exposed to a pretty loud fire alarm (for like 30-45 seconds until I was able to get a hold of my ear muffs) and then exited quickly (within 2-3 minutes). I am afraid this has caused additional ear damage.
Background info: I got tinnitus due to acoustic trauma around 4...
