Yes TMJ here too... but that doesn’t mean it’s the cause so not sure what to do... I have a splint but I don't notice any difference.

@nobhillian it's supposed to help with tinnitus, not create more on the other side. The brain is a mystery when it comes to tinnitus. Sorry to hear this. Hope you can get it removed x

I had ear pain for many months but then it went. It was years ago, before the tinnitus. Nobody could work out what it was. TMJ in the end...

@Ed209 Poor you, hope your wife and little one are ok... we’re not supposed to call 111 even if we do get symptoms in the UK, unless you are in a bad way - how on earth will they know how many have got it? Stay safe x

MML = they measure your Minimum Masking Level i.e how loud your tinnitus is... you may not want to know it which is understandable...

Sometimes when there’s a temporary threshold in hearing the brain picks up on it and generates tinnitus. If it’s gone once it may go again. Lots of us have good gearing and no clue regarding the cause of our tinnitus... Time will help you get used to it.

Interesting - be careful you don’t want to end up with TMJ... that causes tinnitus as well and you may end up in lots of chronic pain.

Yes I have always had that fullness before tinnitus when exposed to a thud, bang etc.

I’ve read @kelpiemsp posts from the beginning - it seems to me his tinnitus was intermittent. He referred to bouts of tinnitus a lot and tinnitus coming back. Am I missing something? That leads me to be more skeptical about the abating of his tinnitus as it could be from natural causes.

@Autumnwillows show your doctor the petition on Change, it will show him that lots of people are distressed by tinnitus. Don’t let them treat you as an hysterical woman. Do a little each day to get you out. Find a new house to rent... once you can get out freely it will improve x

@DebInAustralia yes, it will slowly get back to where you were. Mine is now in a new phase after 3 years of the same tinnitus and not reacting to the sound and not noticing it for part of the day... it’s now become erratic and does strange things... long story.

Very rare, most of us get tested for that... if it is that and they remove it you may see improvements. Stay strong, you are still early days, it does get easier to filter it it for most. It will take time x

Thanks for sharing your story. Once you have cracked the hyperacusis things will get easier. Regular exposure to sound does work and in time you won’t react as badly to sounds, it does take time. I still have a lower tolerance but it’s not a big deal in comparison to my tinnitus.

@Samantha R Three sounds like the perfect number... I am very risk averse so didn’t go for number three for one or another reason. Well things have been tricky since May. It got loud, then could hear other sounds which freaked me out and then settled around Sept. January / February again...

Sounds unlikely, maybe a coincidence? How loud is the buzzing? Seriously don’t beat yourself up as tinnitus is a joke when it comes to its randomness... You’ll see so many possible causes on here and every one of us is cross with themselves or someone. You were obviously unknowingly prone to it...

@Autumnly that's what TRT specialists will be telling their patients one by one. The irony is that on this very site many of the people who introduce themselves have been able to live with their tinnitus for years before it got worse and then things change. It kind of debunks their argument...

I’m taking a flight Boeing A380... 8 hours. Should I wear hearing protection such as noise cancelling headphones? It’s supposed to be relatively quiet. What do frequent flyers do?
