    Sometimes when there’s a temporary threshold in hearing the brain picks up on it and generates tinnitus. If it’s gone once it may go again. Lots of us have good gearing and no clue regarding the cause of our tinnitus... Time will help you get used to it.

    Interesting - be careful you don’t want to end up with TMJ... that causes tinnitus as well and you may end up in lots of chronic pain.

    I’ve read @kelpiemsp posts from the beginning - it seems to me his tinnitus was intermittent. He referred to bouts of tinnitus a lot and tinnitus coming back. Am I missing something? That leads me to be more skeptical about the abating of his tinnitus as it could be from natural causes.

    @Autumnwillows show your doctor the petition on Change, it will show him that lots of people are distressed by tinnitus. Don’t let them treat you as an hysterical woman. Do a little each day to get you out. Find a new house to rent... once you can get out freely it will improve x

    @DebInAustralia yes, it will slowly get back to where you were. Mine is now in a new phase after 3 years of the same tinnitus and not reacting to the sound and not noticing it for part of the day... it’s now become erratic and does strange things... long story.

    Thanks for sharing your story. Once you have cracked the hyperacusis things will get easier. Regular exposure to sound does work and in time you won’t react as badly to sounds, it does take time. I still have a lower tolerance but it’s not a big deal in comparison to my tinnitus.
