2020 US Presidential Election

Don't you think Trump saying the noise from windmills causing cancer is a bit of a scam as well lmao. You're more likely to go deaf from the noise than get cancer from it hahaha. I'm no doctor, but I swear fossil fuels can actually cause cancer.

Science disagrees with his statement.

I love how Trump is arguing against windmills because the noise causes cancer and how birds accidentally fly into them, but disregard that people die prematurely from pollution or the future consequences of climate change where the damage and deaths aren't limited to birds.

If they make a true story movie about this guy, then it has to be a dark comedy. They should name it Stable Genius.
Trump was joking about noise causing cancer:

Wind turbines cause cancer? Trump's 'idiotic' theory whips up storm

Trump has a good sense of humor, but the Left doesn't seem to get his jokes.

You make it sound like I said China's the gold standard lol. But our carbon emissions per capita is higher, that's a fact. No matter what you pull out of your hat to make China look bad, which by the way they are, bad, that doesn't excuse America.
Not only that, but the US (population - 328.2 million) are bigger emitters than the European Union (447.7 million) and India (1.353 billion). India's air quality in the cities is worst due to population density (which I agree they should try to solve), however they still emit less in total to the world than the US -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions

US - 5,107.393
European Union - 3,548.345
India - 2,454.774
EU + India combined (sightly over 1.800 billion people) - 6,003.119

I actually like Trump, but not for the reasons his supporters worship him for.

You have to admit him bragging about doing an Alzheimers test was a bit painful to witness; "Person. Woman. Man... Camera... and TV" . He even got aggressively defensive when Chris Wallace from Fox News brought it up lol

Yes I agree Trump has a good sense of humour. He's especially a master at accidental comedy.

"Trump is such an alpha-male and a strong leader who doesn't care what others think"

Tell me about it, these so called alphas are such pussy little bitches. They make fun of SJWs for needing a safe space yet throw hissy fits over everything. Like the national tantrum they threw to cancel the NFL.

Have you noticed that Trump keeps talking about his unmatched intelligence and bringing up IQ tests? I remember at one point he brought up IQ in one of the last debates just randomly when he was cornered. He gets quite aggressive when someone insults him with words like "Moron" and then challenges them to an IQ test battle lol.

"and being, like, really smart" I'm done lmao.

Trump challenges Rex Tillerson to IQ test

He knows the best words such as "tremendous".

Nobody knows better than Trump including Albert Einstein by the looks of it.

Trump losing to the Democrats who caused riots, is a good thing. They're not in a position to do as much stupid stuff as they would like to. Biden is already worn out, before being sworn in. I think that Trump will come back in 2024, run against Biden's VP, AKA "2018 Porker of the Year", who the public will be fed up with long before 2024, and after beating her he'll be the President again, until 2028. Then, his son can run.

That sounds like nice weather to me.
Short-sighted and simple-minded thinking.
How about India, China, and the deforestation of the Amazon as bigger contributors to global warming than the US?
Buck passing.
I see Boston will be in the 40's to low 50's the next few days, no 70's. Maybe you were mixed up with the temperature in your house?
You want to track my weather day by way to disprove climate change? Even years ago it was warm enough around Christmas here that kids were walking home from school in shorts. We occasionally have heavy snow years but the norm now is to have almost no snow at all in the winter, at least until February. Most snow is a result of short-term polar inversions where we get a lot of snowfall and then it melts away with a heat wave. Wild gyrations but the average is steadily going up. I grew up here. I remember how it used to be. It's not a mirage. The climate is f*cked. And considering that the polar regions drive climate, it's easy to see why.

In just 15 years, the Arctic Ocean may be ice-free in summer, study says

I would like to say thanks to this dear Democrat Obama who bombed Libya and Syria. We now have a country so much more democratic... (irony) Thanks to him.
Now European countries have suffered waves of unmanageable migration.
This thread pulls them all the reactionaries out of the woodwork.

@Christiaan, this post shows that the US isn't the problem. It's mainly countries in Asia that pollute the air. We will gradually transition, but the cost will be enormous and people will complain about high utility bills. We already have wind and solar power to a certain degree. I don't think electric vehicles are practical enough yet. I see some propane vehicles on the road today that burn cleaner than gasoline. Most homes burn clean natural gas or propane and many are 90% efficient. I recommend you eat some Cocoa Puffs to straighten yourself out a bit.

Trump's dig coal policy made the US part of the problem, actually. There's no future in fossil fuels, especially if we talk about jobs. Even major oil concerns like BP, Exxon and Shell are divesting from their current business and focusing on green energy instead. Biden's commitment to the Paris Agreement and his plans for a weakened version of the Green New Deal could at least create more jobs and makes the US economy more competitive in green technology vis-à-vis East Asia and Europe.

BTW I'm vegan, so no cocoa puffs for me unfortunately:cry:

I mentioned it in one of my previous posts but months before COVID-19 first came basically.

Saw this beautiful skyline at night when I was there though -

That being said, when China decides to change, it doesn't get stuck in gridlock like the US, it CHANGES, even if it may wind up being too little too late.

China pledges to become carbon neutral before 2060
But yeah that was the point; if the US, the second biggest emitter in the world (worse than EU and India with bigger populations), has the resources to do so, especially if renewable energies is getting cheaper, then what's the problem? Or is this just loyalty to enrich the fossil fuel corporations first who continue to destroy the planet? Dropping bombs in the Middle East is just the cherry on top which isn't exactly environmentally friendly too if you ask me. Even after those countries are bombed then they can't even afford to invest in renewable energies.

However, at least Trump is honest about his loyalty to oil and imperialism -

Even Syria's Assad praised him for his honesty on imperialism lol.

"Syrian president Bashar al-Assad has praised Donald Trump, saying the billionaire real estate magnate is the "best" US president he has dealt with "because he is the most transparent".

"He's the best American president," Mr Assad told NBC News from Damascus. "Not because his policies are good, but because he's the most transparent president."

Referring to Mr Trump's predecessors in the White House, President Assad said: "All they are is a group of criminals who only represent the interest of American lobbies of large corporations in weapons, oil and others."

"Trump speaks with transparency to say 'we want the oil'. What do we want more than a transparent foe?" he asked."

That reminds me, he soon brought up Obama's atrocities, but not George Bush's and Trump hasn't showed any difference in his loyalty to imperialism either. You know how they bring up the wars and the refugee crises that their leaders caused and pretend to show sympathy, but then are against bringing refugees in because "we should take care of our own" but then are also against helping the poor people with healthcare because it's communism (it's not lmao)? This sums it up.

I have to say, I'm loving your enthusiasm in this thread. Keep it up man.

Stealing this meme btw.

if renewable energies is getting cheaper, then what's the problem?
Part of the problem is the way cost is calculated. Fossil fuels don't factor in the downstream cost of pollution. This is why renewables have such a hard time competing. This is why there should really be a carbon tax instead of carbon credits. Renewables are already cheaper if you factor in the lower pollution costs.

What is an example of the cost of pollution? Natural disasters. But of course, humans are so difficult at ascribing cause and effect (as we can see even in this thread) that it doesn't work. No increased frequency of hurricanes, wildfires, etc... seems to create the mental connection between pollution and negative climate feedbacks. I mean, we're all taught the House that Jack Built from a young age and yet we don't connect the dots, either because we can't, or more likely, because we simply don't want to.

So the problem with the left is they are in denial of the need for some degree of sacrifice to go renewable. It's based on articles of faith about green growth and green jobs. And that over-optimism is fine up to the point where we actually try it and find out that it is indeed a no-pain, no-gain proposition. But politically the only way they can possibly sell this is to make it seem as though we can just transition over without the least inconvenience. I'm not making a case for the status quo. I'm making the case for humanity being unwilling to make sacrifices for the "commons". That's tragedy of the commons.

The path of least resistance is what we've seen so far, to elect reactionary leaders who promise a return to the good old days. Deny and pray. Deny and pray. Speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil. We're rounding the curve, rounding the curve. Again, if people have trouble wearing a mask then they're not going to stop driving their diesel F-150s.

It's cheaper to live using fossil fuels at this point. Lot of people are cheap, just look at the lack of donations to this forum as an example. I don't think a bicycle would replace a car or truck too well.

Since Trump lost there's been some great gems I have found from his supporters that I would like to share.

"The democrats are just like nazi's with their tactics and will put us into concentration camps"

Also them:

I notice a pattern; everything they don't like is either liberal propaganda, CNN, communism, socialism, fake news etc etc while being unable to explain what socialism is other than it's what Obama and Joe Biden is.

Relating to the previous discussions about climate change.

How the hell is global warming communist propaganda??

I don't think the people who came up with communism even knew about global warming back then lmao.
