2020 US Presidential Election

The evidence I've seen does not support the notion that protests have been peaceful in Portland after homeland security left. Where did you hear that?

https://www.kgw.com/article/news/lo...ests/283-3c2627f2-8a27-4883-a6b8-a2b612291ddc
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...federal-officers-scale-back-presence-n1235590

The article you posted listed a truck driving through the crowd as an act of violence against the protestors. I suppose if people are attacking the protesters, it's hard to be peaceful...

You are right. We don't understand each other and it may be on a subconscious level.
That isn't what I inferred. I understand you perfectly. I have encountered lots of people who think like you. Most don't have an open mind to my point of view or explanations too.

Trump has done nothing but talk and tweet about the crimes and violence. Wow, he called BLM a Marxist organization. Big whippy do. Maybe I just don't understand the state and federal system in the USA and he can't do much... I dunno. So, you want me to criticize Trump? I just did. He was a slimeball and maybe still is, I dunno. I will repeat, I think he is a puppet but what I can't figure out is how much is he trying to "resist" that.
Let me see if I understand better. Are you not a Trump supporter because he's not hard enough on crime? Too soft?

If that's the case, then we are both sort of right. You don't support Trump, but the principles that he pretends to stand for? If the word "Trumpism" bothers you, I don't care if you use that label or associate with it. But the actual content of your posts would fit that category. That's all I'm saying.

Objectively, and this makes me happy actually, you are right that Trump is a lot of twitter on his principles. It is objectively true that he acts like a want-to-be despot more than his governmental ambitions would indicate.

As I've said before, I am very happy that Trump is lazy and stupid.

My impression is he doesn't like Trump because he's not far-right enough for him. Is that a fair assessment @PeteJ?

LOL. I told you already. I think he is a puppet. I disagree with certain policies. I am anti-war. I prefer Ron Paul's foreign policy position, for e.g., over Trump's status quo ones. Just ONE example. When riots and defunding police results in more crime and murders, radical left organizations are imposing their will violently and threatening white people etc. etc. and Trump just tweets crap, yeah, I think he is just a puppet doing nothing. Does that mean he is soft on crime? What do you think it means when this is happening? You don't care?

You don't have to answer. I just thought I would reply to you. I am done now, okay? I hope I answered your questions satisfactorily.

Man, the US has become a shambles.

How could the law be changed to make the criteria for who is allowed to stand for president stricter? I know the idea of anyone being able to become president is a nice idea, but the reality of that is biting now for sure.

I like the far left at least outlining their positions, but most of the time, it's too much for me. For example, I don't agree with defunding the police, but I want my leader to critically think about this issue and at least hear the arguments for it; there could be some good mixed in with the bad. If there's a good argument for it besides "I wish the world was a wonderful place and crime didn't exist," I want to hear it.

To expand upon my quote, one example of "good mixed in with the bad" is more of a focus on social programs to divert crime in the first place. I know this doesn't totally end violence, but it's something worth hearing. I've also said in the past, I think the police needs more funding. The problem isn't law and order, but bad apple police officers without enough training. Law enforcement helps keeps communities safe, which is a good thing.

To your point, the looting and burning of small businesses is undoubtedly bad for communities. I haven't seen anyone say it was good, and the ones that do represent a very small minority.

There is something I am trying to grasp and I'm coming up short.

Does the far-right believe BLM are not actually really protesting their stated grievance of police brutality, particularly of minorities and are instead secret Marxists with an agenda?

In this scenario, are the masses "Marxists" or just the leaders?

If it is the masses, does that mean much of America is "Marxist" including entire sports teams?

If it's the leaders and the masses are just too dumb and go along with it, what's the end game? The scooby doo masks come off and talks of police reform magically turn into Marxism meetings but people shrug and say "oh well, if that's what our leaders want, screw police reform and bring on Soviet style communism."

Kanye West indicates that his spoiler campaign is indeed designed to hurt Biden

''Amid various reports that Republican and Trump-affiliated political operatives are trying to get Kanye West onto various state ballots for November's presidential election, the billionaire rap superstar indicated, in an interview by text today, that he was in fact running to siphon votes from the presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden.''

Why don't you do your own research? You were upset when you were called unintelligent. Well, prove that you aren't! I used the same internet as you do to come to an informed conclusion. I posted a few links here. They explained part of it.

As for sports teams and corporations, they just care about profits. So, yeah, it's ironic that they are supporting a Marxist organization. But, they are afraid of the Left and one article I posted can even explain the reasoning - it's from a "Conservative reaction" POV. Check it out.
Many Corporations are worried about Leftist backlash if they don't publicly get behind BLM and the Marxist connection is ignored since so many ignore it. If regular people started boycotting them, that could change.

As for individual protesters, there are Marxists and vehement leftists among them but the core movement is Marxist at the top. But, even many of the protesters are hateful, easy to anger and have a violent streak. I wouldn't want to be near any of them. Anyone who is that stupid and doesn't realize they are pawns and tools are too far gone.

@PeteJ, this has been said many times before, but please stop being disrespectful. Calling people on this forum ad hominem unintelligent, insane, cook, or whatever is just plain wrong. How are people going to take each other seriously if they use such vile words? You wouldn't like it if someone does this to you. I know deep down you do understand this, and I know you're going through a rough patch, but we're here to help each other. So please don't treat others disrespectfully . This is my last message to reach out to you, unless you apologise. Here ends the buck.

This thread is always so fun. All I can say is that I love my country.

In case anyone's wondering why I've had Pete on ignore this whole time...

Now y'all know why. I'm just fine not seeing this crazy bullshit.

For the record, I wasn't the least "upset" that you called me a moron. I just pointed out that someone who responds to debates with personal attacks is a waste of time to debate with.

Anyway, I have read your links. No where, anywhere did they describe a Marxism "end game." You have described "indoctrination camps" for white people in one post. Is this what you think the end game is?

I ask because the dots don't connect.

Let me try to be more clear about what I am asking: When people are in power, they have hidden agendas all the time and can actualize that hidden agenda (no argument there) but there is no BLM leader that is going to assume power if the protesters get their stated demand of police reform and justice for people like Breonna Taylor.

Maybe I am a "moron" because I can't see it but it would be *the* most convoluted inefficient plot with no real world way to succeed.

There is a quote by Einstein that says "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." So, @PeteJ since you say you are well informed on this hidden agenda/plot, explain HOW this end game is accomplished or point me to link that that lays it out.

I agree that corporations don't care about people and are motivated by publicity or the fear of backlash (eg. profits). but the players were not told to kneel. That was their decision, not the franchise's.

In fact, in some cases, sports teams were told not to kneel but were defiant against it:

https://people.com/sports/entire-softball-team-quits-forms-new-team-gm-tweets-trump-national-anthem/

Anyway, you again say the "core movement is Marxist at the top" so I'm asking how that hypothetically would make "Marxism" rise in the US. Is your stance since the people are just "pawns" that they will switch goals to "Marxsim" if BLM tells them to one they are done protesting police brutality? Or is all liberalism "Marxism" to you?

Here is something (FWIW) someone wrote about Jimmy Kimmel constantly berating Trump during his monologue:

Jimmy, I used to like you before Trump became President. You are NOT a Politician and Frankly, I'm really disgusted by your constant rants. You are a "Comedian" and late night talk show host. Instead of dedicating the first 10 minutes your nightly monologue to bashing Trump with twists of truth, please turn it into something positive and Funny! I stopped watching you long ago and if I decide to watch late night, it's Jimmy Fallen. He may make a joke or two but you just don't know when to shut the F**K up! Biden is a complete Joke! Quit using your platform to express your leftist agenda. People are SICK of it! Your constant whining, crying and complaining are pathetic. If I ever see you in person I'd tell you what a complete LOSER you are! Trump 2020

The guy needs to find his remote control from under his couch and flip to another channel if he doesn't like Jimmy Kimmel. Why sweat about the opinion of one guy? It's not like liberal America base their political views on his jokes, sheesh.

Having said that, what is your take on the quality of satire on today's TV?

Completely support that guy's American right to not watch Jimmy Kimmel and write to air his grievances.

He's probably already done with Fallen too as he also makes fun of Trump but he can write another letter I guess.

My issue with @PeteJ and @just1morething's points above:

I wish right wingers would just come around to the fact that sometimes people are powerless, instead of putting up this tough guy front. Right wingers preach about free markets and how every moral issue should be fixed in the market. Government needs to stay out! Buy more guns because all the government represents is the possibility of tyrannical takeover. Let discrimination work itself out. People will naturally not patronize a company with bad practices, etc.

I actually agree that boycotts are going to lead us to a bad place. What I wish right wingers would see from this is some of their hypocrisy being exposed. Even being on the left, I can admit that there is some truth to the fact that right wing viewpoints are excluded from journalism and entertainment. There's sort of an ideological monopoly going on. There are surely some good-faith discussions about BLM being ignored (although I would contend many of them are in bad faith).

But then what about the "pull yourself up by your boot straps" mentality? It's bogus. Everyone knows it is. People find themselves in bad spots without mobility. If right wingers were more honest about this, I wouldn't laugh at their projection when they insinuate that people are professional victims and snowflakes. It's like, maybe stop whining and become an entertainer yourself? Or stop whining and become a journalist. Oh, but that's different...

I think he said he did switch channels. This whole thread will have no effect on the election. It just appears to be people arguing for the most part. It doesn't cause any harm nor any real benefit. A lot of people's advice or opinions are free for a reason. I admittedly don't know a lot about politics but would like to keep the current administration during the pandemic. Things could get worse with Biden.

How dare you!

I'm not so sure @Tanni . There's probably a top hat at the Dem/GOP HQ reading our thread right now in search of some good ideas for writing a bill to cure tinnitus and found some useful tips from a certain English woman that would change the US for the better.

haha, I've sort of viewed this thread as a place to unload some pent up mental illness in the form of blaming our politicians. Really though, when you zoom out and think about it, politics is a highly polarizing topic and many of us are in a state of disability, making us even more on edge. Something was bound to go wrong with this thread.

Despite politics being a mega polarising subject, we could luckily all agree from left and right that politicians need to up their game for all of us. At least that counts for something, right?;)

Now y'all know why. I'm just fine not seeing this crazy bullshit.
Only someone incredibly stupid would insult another poster and then mention that the poster is on their ignore list.

I'm dumber than both of you. I'm an orc peon :)
Why does he have to mention me if I am on ignore? I never talked to him even once and vice versa until then. Another poster I politely requested to avoid each other also mentioned me in a disparaging comment. I am being called the troll? LOL. I granted those two posters' wishes by bowing out of the discussion and that's my thanks.

I always try to explain myself and my comments including when I say I think you are brainwashed or whatever. I already explained that and to a poster who wasn't even talking to me. Cheerio and au revoir.

Sensitive to claims of bias, Facebook relaxed misinformation rules for conservative pages

''Facebook has allowed conservative news outlets and personalities to repeatedly spread false information without facing any of the company's stated penalties, according to leaked materials reviewed by NBC News.''

Link: https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-n...information-rules-conservative-pages-n1236182
This is typically how it works. Cry bias until you get better treatment, than still cry bias as even laxer treatment helps your cause or views be heard more. Cry bullying. Both sides can do it.

Some of Trump's gaffes are funnier or more outrageous than Biden's. They both seem to put their foot in their mouth at times. They are who we thought they are.
