2024 US Presidential Election

Trump is concerned with surveillance, ships, and other activity by China and Russia. He could impose tariffs on Denmark. The 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), gives him broad authority to declare a national emergency to deal with unusual and extraordinary threats to national security, foreign policy or the economy of the United States. Source: MarketWatch.
Yes, but that's not what my post is about.

Trump can't impose any specific tariffs that exclusively target Denmark because it's part of a little trading bloc known as the EU.

This would be considered as a tariff on the entity as a whole–triggering a unified response from the EU.

I doubt that anything drastic will happen.

Since the 19th century, there have been several attempts to have Greenland join the United States.

About two-thirds of Greenlanders support independence from Denmark. They will likely vote on the issue in the spring of 2025.

The United States can take Denmark's place. This would afford the citizens of Greenland tremendous opportunities, which they have never had before. American businesses could start making offers to spur interest.

I hope they join the US.

Guys, all this nonsense about Greenland, the Panama Canal, Canada (as the 51st) state, and the Gulf of America Mexico is simply a distraction by this cult leader.

He is just stirring up outrage, for the media to be fixated on, so he can hide the fact that he will not do anything to reduce grocery/gas prices to the way they were before, like he said he was going to do.

This will be the theme of this administration. Trump finding ways to grab national attention to feed into his narcissistic ego.

All talk and no real action to improve American lives, except for the rich and powerful.

It's a historical fact that the first Europeans to land on the mainland of North America were the Norwegian Viking and explorer Leif Eriksson and his party. Leif was one of Erik the Red's sons and had accompanied him to Greenland.

In light of these facts, I think both the U.S. and Greenland should submit to the will of the Norwegian lords!

Even Hitler looked upon us as the Master race of the world, and thus @Luman & @just1morething should bow their heads in respect to us!

We should not have to point fingers!

The sentencing in Trump's Hush Money witch hunt trial was on Friday morning, Jan. 10th. He was convicted in 2024 of not correctly listing money he had given to a pornography star, in exchange for her not talking about an alleged affair that they had. No graft, corruption, or embezzlement charges were filed against him in this kangaroo trial. Despite the numerous felony convictions, he was not sentenced to prison, parole, community service, or to pay any monetary fines. The Democrats failed to stop him from winning the presidential race, and those who were in power who brought these charges will be held accountable.

Well at least we are rid of the 2nd worst President in American history according to Bill O'Reilly. Are you really happy with all the illegal immigrants in New York City? Trump and Tom Homan will make NYC much safer for the people living there. I would much sooner see the homeless and veterans get the free benefits rather than the illegal aliens who shouldn't be here in the first place.
Do you have a humiliation fetish or something?
You are not a U.S citizen, so your posts are meaningless to me.

National Deportation Day Meme.jpg

Trump fooled you and the other low-information voters to get your votes. There won't be mass deportation. Trump, along with Musk, supports more immigration:

The worst president is Donald Trump. So, if that were true, we're going downhill. Also, Bill O'Reilly is a highly biased commentator who used to have his own show on Fox News - where he had the Spin Factor. What he says is partisan and meaningless.

Are you sure that there won't be mass deportations of illegal aliens under Trump? Border Czar Tom Homan is planning on running a program of "mass deportation" of hundreds of thousands of criminals, all of whom are illegals, very soon.

Most illegals aren't criminals aside from being in the country illegally. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think they'll deport enough to make a significant impact. It's time-consuming and very costly.

The Biden-Harris administration is over in one week. The harm they have done to this country will take years, if not decades, to undo. Fortunately, the voters chose the right people to do the job. As far as criminal illegal migrants, there is a large number—nearly 650,000, who must be captured and deported. Bounties will be one method of many that will help catch them.
September 27, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) issued a statement following the release of new data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) showing that, as of July 21, 2024, nearly 650,000 criminal illegal aliens were currently on ICE's Non-Detained Docket (NDD) and roaming free in communities throughout the United States. This figure includes roughly 15,000 individuals convicted of or charged with murder, more than 20,000 of sexual assault, and more than 105,000 of assault.

According to one veteran agent, "[there's really nothing stopping them from coming here at this point." Deputy Chief Patrol Agent Dustin Caudle of the Border Patrol's Yuma Sector told the Committee last year that "any crime that can be committed, we do encounter people who have committed them."

The specific breakdown of what types of criminals have been released is just as sobering. The following numbers include both convicted criminals and those with pending charges for the specific offense. In all categories, the former exceeded the latter:
  • Homicide: 14,944
  • Sexual Assault: 20,061
  • Assault: 105,146
  • Burglary/Larceny/Robbery: 60,268
  • Traffic Offenses: 126,343
  • Weapon Offenses: 16,820
  • Kidnapping: 3,372
  • Commercialized Sexual Offenses: 3,971

@RunningMan, do you agree with the Democrats on this bill?

House passed the 'Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act,' which bans biological men in girls' sports.

206 Democrats voted against it.

She's got a nice package. Thanks for the post, @just1morething.

@grate_biff, how are you, my Viking friend? Happy New Year, brother. Stay safe and strong. I'm praying for a little peace and quiet for us. Embrace happiness whenever possible. Sending you a big Viking bear hug!

Just to put the current confirmation circus into the proper context, consider reading this article from Timothy Snyder, Professor of History at Yale University.

It reminds us of past candidates for Secretary of Defense, Director of National Intelligence, and Attorney General, all of whom were rejected for reasons that appear quaint today; especially in comparison to the very good reasons not to even consider the current candidates for these posts, i.e. Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, and Pam Bondi.

That clown show is quite a depressing reminder of just how far the US has sunk.

Happy new year, my friend!

I'm hanging on by a thread. I don't even got the strength to write much right now! Fuck noxacusis and fuck benzos!

Thank you for thinking about me. It means a lot.

You are just a great guy and I wish you the world!:huganimation:

1. Historians would call this recency bias since he is still in office. So, deciding where Biden ranks in the presidential rankings is a bit premature. Wait a bit.

2. It's Bill O Reilly.

But if I had to guess though, Biden will get placed somewhere in the middle, probably on the lower end of it. He started off really strong with many legislative victories that boosted American jobs, and he even stopped a recession from happening. I know people have goldfish memories nowadays, but this is true.

Most of the progress will probably be overturned or gutted in some way anyway so that it won't matter. And Trump will definitely take credit for some of Biden's accomplishments, especially with the CHIPS Act.

In the last two years of his term, though, he showed very little backbone. He showed weak leadership skills, was terrible at messaging, and his foreign policy in the current conflicts was a complete doozy. I think his handling of the Israel-Gaza situation was terrible. His support for Ukraine was so piecemeal, especially after Ukraine routed Russia away from Kyiv. He failed to capitalize on that moment.

Some say his lasting legacy will be setting the Democrats up to fail and leading us back to Trump because he did not announce from the start that he was going to be a one-term president. I think there were other factors to contend with, though. Like incumbents all across the world were losing their seats this election cycle. Kamala Harris was seen as an extension of Biden, and she didn't have enough time to distance herself from that, I guess.

One thing I'll give Trump credit for is that he knows how to run a really good populace campaign. He knows where to rally, he knows how to prey on people's fears, and he is good at getting that message across, even if it's mostly lies. When you factor in low IQ voters and how they think, you'll have a recipe for success. He knows what's up:

Well, we just elected a convicted felon to the highest office in the US government. It doesn't get any more clown world than that.

It's a really nice lesson we are passing on to our kids, though— do bad things, face zero consequences, and even get rewarded for it. Yup, sounds about American...

I going to roll eyes anytime I see a Republican talk about 'family values'.

Do you think he/she should be allowed in women's sports and allowed in their locker room? I hope all is well with you and your family @Daniel Lion. I suppose you are struggling with tinnitus like me. I have an occasional good day, but it's difficult to repeat.

Do you consider Elon Musk a low-IQ voter? People voted for common sense policies, not the far-left woke ideologies that the Democrats promoted.

She didn't have the intelligence to simply listen to Trump's criticisms of her campaign - he laid it all out, and she ignored it.

The lowest IQ voters are those who believed the testimony that Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate is worth 18 million dollars, lol.

The prosecutors in the Hush Money trial did not even spell out what he did wrong; the judge, a Democrat, told the jury to convict him for whatever they believed. So, they got him on 34 felony convictions, and there was no sentence because it was a gigantic, expensive hoax to keep him out of the White House, which failed.

I wrote low IQ when I subconsciously meant to say low info voters. You know, those who cannot figure out the basic facts of who they are voting for and why. They vote strictly based on feelings/vibes. Most American voters are passive consumers of politics, many of whom are voting against their own interests. Education in this country is truly in shambles.

I don't think this was some plot to keep Trump out of the White House. Even if he was in prison, nothing in the Constitution prevents someone with a criminal record from running for US President.

He is a white-collar criminal, convicted by an impartial jury. It doesn't get any more basic than that. The lack of sentencing was really pathetic to see but expected. It shows how the ultra-rich and influential are above the law. There are no consequences for them. It makes me people lose faith in our institutions.

You sure love your billionaires, huh? I'm sure he has your interests at heart. He definitely does not have a low IQ, just cunning enough to align with MAGA to leverage it to push his own interest, which will be lowering taxes, weakening unions, and promoting cheap labor via H1B visas. Hey, I thought you MAGA cultists were against H1-Bs?

I notice you never really have anything to say about economic policy. Culture war stuff, which is meant to divide and distract us, is all you really have.

Hi @just1morething,

I'm struggling with tinnitus—it's a battle. Thankfully, my family is doing well. They're safe, sound, and far removed from the chaos, doing what kids should be doing: playing and studying.

As for the issue with the athlete, my stance is clear—no men in women's sports. It's an easy decision and a no-brainer for me. I consider myself a centrist and dislike the extremes of both the far left and far right. I want America to thrive.

I no longer support DEI or affirmative action, though I did when I was younger. Times have changed. I believe America should invest in education so we can be smarter and more competitive globally. We need to bring semiconductor technology from Taiwan to the U.S. and work toward greater self-reliance in manufacturing, especially for medical, high-tech, and industrial products.

I also believe in the separation of church and state. I'd prefer our kids focus on becoming literate and skilled in math rather than prioritizing religious studies, whether Biblical or Quranic.

I want America to stand as one united nation, not divided. I don't suffer from TDS, and I think my statements reflect that. America has a tremendous opportunity to flourish right now. With good leadership and sound decision-making, I truly hope this becomes a reality. It's my home, and I want it to prosper just as much as you do.

On that note, I hope you're doing well. Tinnitus is a heavy burden, and it's far from easy. Take care, my friend—and to all the passionate political posters on this thread, I wish the Research News and Treatments categories were as lively and full of promise as this political one.
