Hi aura,

Dentist placed too much torgue when removing cap that screwed into implant stem and it broke. Cap needed to be removed before placing tooth on stem. A long procedure to vibrate the broken cap part out - caused major jaw nerve damage, loosen other teeth. Neck muscle spasms straighten my C spine and that did serious damage to my ipsilateral vertebral artery and C1 thru C6. Instant severe somatic tinnitus.

Later, I had a hypertension crisis that caused an abdominal aortic aneurysm and retina detached. Laser was used on retina and sight came back 100%. Pulsatile tinnitus developed. Recently I was placed under severe stress from a friend. Abdominal aortic aneurysm enlarged and lost sight in left eye again, but this time it's permanent.

Hugs.
So from what I understand, it was a medical error, not something that happens on a regular basis when having a dental implant.

I am asking this because next week I am scheduled for a dental procedure.

My doctor suggested an implant because it will last longer and it will be much less noise involved. The other option was a dental crown but the procedure takes longer, it's louder, and he has to drill a healthy tooth.

What's your opinion on this?

Thank you!

Hi @aura. I don't want to influence you, but if I had a tooth that wasn't an incisor and has bone support, I would not get an implant. Too many things can go wrong. I go with a crown with on and off drilling.

I visit dental sites for health care professionals and there's many implant horror stories among dentists. On these sites, dentists often accuse each other of wrong doing. Often, one dentist will say to another, you have no business doing implants - "you're unqualified".

Google "what can go wrong with a dental implant". There's also professional medical articles.

@aura, get another opinion.

A crown lasts 30 years if you're careful. Swapping it isn't very problematic either. Perhaps another dentist can use a laser to prep the tooth...?

Or perhaps another dentist will say a filling can hold for ten years...?

You know they love $, so careful with implants...

Bet you wished you hadn't asked now?!?!
I'm actually glad that I asked.

You're such an inspiration for all of us!

Do you feel that all the difficulties you've experienced helped you build your character?

In my opinion, you can overcome a lot of obstacles in life.
But being neglected/abused as a child... is a different story.

The mother is that person that loves you unconditionally. You don't have to earn her love.

Not feeling the love of your mother... I can't even imagine what that means for a child.

Anyway, I was wondering if you could tell us how you met your wife, if it isn't too painful for you... I would love to hear that story! <3

Yes I can Aura.

I lost my sweetheart in November.
In truth I am still devastated.
I created two self published photo albums of her, and I am now working on a book of anecdotes of her. So many interesting scenarios and funny stories happened around her, largely because of the remarkable person she was.
I didn't just love her - I absolutely adored her.
I am writing this book for children, grandchildren and friends, to make sure she is never forgotten.

The stories are all written up now, and my daughter and I are loading them up on the computer into a book.

'Meeting Sylvie' is one of the stories, so I just need to locate it on the PC, then cut and paste.

Regarding my mother - she was desperately mentally ill, and lived her whole life deep in depression. I grew up completely isolated and schizoid. I have never blamed her - she had nothing - no love or happiness - to give me.
By three months she was dead to me.

I was married before Sylvie, but the first time I ever felt truly loved was when Syl put her arms around me.

Now I'll go and find the story.

(Thank you for your interest Aura.)

*Meeting Sylvie

I needed a shop assistant for my greengrocery shop. I would place a 'staff wanted' postcard in the window of a confectioners called 'Toucans,' just down the road. But how would anybody notice my card, from out of about fifty in that window?
I bought one of those 'four-colour biros.'
(Red - Green - black - blue.)
In the top left hand corner I drew a four colour asterisk. That should do it. I paid about five shillings for one weeks advertising.

During that week, a young mum who was married to an oil man (geophysicist), whose three children were now all at school, started reading some of the postcards. She spotted mine. She thought' 'I've always wanted to work in a little shop - if I remember the phone number when I get home, I'll give them a ring.'

I answered the phone to a lady with a lovely Canadian accent. She sounded so nice. After about ten minutes I heard myself say,
"You've got the job.
Can you start on Monday?"
"But you haven't even seen me?"
"I don't have to - you sound perfect."

Monday morning came around.
At five minutes to nine a very smart young lady came into my shop. She had the must beautiful smile in the world. I met Sylvie.
I knew instantly that I was in love."

Thanks for the smiles and little chuckles you gave me now! :)

Good you still got your humour ;)

I've had a horrible weekend as well...

Is @Steph1710 35? :wideyed:

I was hoping my sympathy fuck would still be in her twenties :D

Okay... I made a boo-boo... I get it.

Of course JUST when I post something funny, @aura simultaneously gets so much worse that she's going green from my nonsense.

I hope you get better soon so we can keep up with our nonsense :)

Goodnight to everyone with screaming ears, jumpy ears, full ears, red ears, tingling ears, crampy ears, sore ears, painful ears and probably some more no one ever heard of... <3

Change of subject guys, but last night my partner chinked a plate on another plate in the dishwasher, and my right ear is very, very sore and sensitive from the sound. I think it's safe to say my hyperacusis is slightly worse than it ever has been. It's now the next day and it still hurts. The sound wasn't even loud, it just set it off again though.

31 haha! Not quite 35 yet. It will soon come around though. This life goes fast.

Today, I look like a spotty teenager though - I only ever have like one spot a year. This year it's on my chin for the world to see lol.

Anyway, I just have a young looking face. No one ever thinks I'm 31. My little sister is 28, and people always presume she's the older one out of us two... Urgh, I'm so tired :meh: I was working till 2am this morning.

@Steph1710, get this: sometimes the low level coil-whine from my laptop causes me ear (hyperacusis) pain. :bored:

But the important part of the above^ sentence is the sometimes; it's not a regular thing, so don't stress about it.

No, it's ok, @Exit, the joke was good :)

I'll give you the "it's not you, it's me" line.

But this time it really is me. If you don't see me joking and fooling around, things are bad, very bad.

This is the first day that I'm feeling slightly better. Maybe because I managed to sleep a few hours last night and I had a short, but beautiful dream. I will tell you guys about it.
