Chit Chat and All That...

Yes, we have idealista.es, fotocasa.es, pisos.com etc... idealista and fotocasa are the biggest. I am very much into real estate, although I do not work professionally on that field.

I still do not understand why tourists come here in summertime. It is just blazing hot haha...

I actually have been thinking the other way around for a long time (I'm slow to make decisions, which is probably not a good thing): purchasing an apartment in Central or Northern Europe to go there in summertime.

Actually I looked at Riga and a bunch of other places. It's maybe a bit of an abstract idea, since I do not speak the language, which is very important..

If prices were not so high I would love to own an apartment in Norway. A few months ago I looked at Toyen in Oslo.

My friend said she paid €250.000 EUR for her 60 sq m apartment near Toyen (this should have been like 2013 or 2014) and the website I checked quoted apartments of that size in that area for like €450.000 EUR. Maybe I was not checking the right real estate website for Norway...
Hi Juan :) Thanks!

Yes that price sounds reasonable.

But it's just our 3 biggest cities and their surroundings. Oslo, Trondheim and Bergen, where I am.

If you like to live in a small village I suggest south of Norway, outside of our small village towns Stavanger and Haugesund you get a newish house for around €300,000 EUR. You will need a car for those areas :) And when I say small village... you can think half of a small fishing village in Spain or less. City centre is 1-2 streets around 100 metres. The good thing about south of Norway is more nice summers. Even sandy beaches!

We only have one website for houses. Finn.no.

Yes, I'm a little worried about the heat in southern Spain but if I move I would like warm winters, and not more than 20 minutes drive to a nice beach :)

I've been to San Sebastián and I feel the winters there are too cold.

Also I would like a house with a pool I can enjoy half the year.

And I feel safer in tourist parts of Spain, regarding stable house prices and not getting into a home squatting area which will leave me homeless within some years...

Hey Steph, I have flown a few times since tinnitus, the first time was a few weeks after onset (8 hours in a loud Boeing without earplugs ). Never had any problems, nowadays I use normal foam earplugs and if it is especially loud, some noise cancelling headphones on top.
Hey! Thanks for the info. I will definitely be wearing earplugs on the plane. I'll take headphones too, just to be on the safe side. :) Luckily England to Italy isn't very far.
What are you going to visit in Italy? :) If you need or want any advice just ask me :)
Well, I am off to Rome with my father who has never been to Italy before! Shock! So, I obviously have to show him the "touristic" stuff - you know: Colosseum, Vatican, Pantheon etc.

And for me, well I am chucking in a few Borromini churches, villa Borghese, and the baths of Diocletian.

If you have any other suggestions, then please let me know.

I lived in Florence a few years ago, when I was studying. I also studied in Sienna and Pisa - but Rome, although I've been there, I don't know it like I do the others.

Italy has, and always will have my heart.

I was going for a walk in a hiking area but with tarmac.

Protecting against every bike and dog. Went past some teenagers and noticed one had a skateboard on his back. I just walked quick and didn't think he would use it... 5 metres away he tossed it on the ground and made 2 loud screeches...

My earmuffs were in my hands... :/

End of my life.
Not the end of your life bro. Just a life altering setback. You're still here. You'll overcome it.

Sorry @Exit. This life is a gamble for us. Just know that I'm sat on my arse in England, spiking as well. You're not alone in this.

Sending love and hugs. x x x

I would suggest Almería province as an option, as one of the few authentic places left, not invaded by mass tourism. You can have space there, even build your own place, or find something already built with space to set a pool. It's very sunny there. Summer is tough, but winter is awesome. Prices are quite cheap there, in real estate terms and generally anything...

Flight and train connections are poor and that's why it has not been invaded yet. But you can fly to Málaga and then drive. It's less than 2 hours away.

I have been to Bergen. Very nice city and surroundings. The Lofoten islands were awesome too, those surreal beaches, those mountains popping out of sandy beaches. Awesome scenery. And the 24h days in summertime. Sun rising again after "midnight". Something very different for a southerner like me hehe.

My two cents are: use earmuffs and earplugs when boarding the plane. Handling personnel and people working around the platform do use earmuffs, so after hyperacusis and tinnitus never understood why passengers who are standing around a plane to board from the platform do not use earmuffs...

Badiani! :)

Casa della pizza!

When did that happen? Was the noise that loud?! Your ears are quite damaged... :(

Nah, I don't. But I feel a kindred spirit thing going on...

Gay Muslim and "sexual terrorist" enter Big Brother (pinknews.co.uk)
A summer of television viewing, kiss and tell stories and state of television debates kicked into gear last night with the start of reality show Big Brother 7
The series, first touted as a social experiment, certainly has some interesting guinea pigs this year, with a gay Muslim, a Tourette's sufferer, and a girl who cannot seem to pronounce her own name.
The tenth was "sexual terrorist" Richard, 33, a gay waiter, he said: "The boys will be climbing the walls to get out of the Big Brother house, but I will be dragging them back in by their underwear".
15 years ago... he'd be 48 now. I wonder if he's still out there, sexually terrorising people... (◔_◔)

Random thing to come out with - but I've always wanted to learn how to play the drums… guess that's never gunna happened now. :(
I'd love to learn an instrument, like piano, but I guess it won't be happening for the same reason. I'm trying to pursue painting and writing instead which is quieter.

Thanks aura...

It was the loudest I've ever heard a skateboard, but it was still a skateboard...

And the loudest thing I've ever heard up there...

16 months and counting... :(

I'd like to say I am not limited by my tinnitus and hyperacusis. But I so am.

I had plans to skydive and scuba dive, but I guess they're off the cards too. They were definitely bucket list things.

I would love to paint, but I'm pretty shocking. I am good at writing though. What have you been writing? :)

What have you been writing?
I've had this idea for a fictional novel for quite some time. I'm kinda in the first phase though, collecting information and doing research, so I haven't begun writing it just yet. We'll see what happens... ;)

For me it is better to read paper books but eBooks are a marvel to carry for holidays, and what would be heavy books around...
I agree with you 100% - I'd also bankrupt myself within half a year if I ever got my hands on an e-book reader :bookworm:

Oooh! That sounds fun! I love researching for writing.

And have you painted anything nice yet? I am a much more crafty person than I am arty - though I know they fall into a similar category.

The thing is, I used to draw a lot. But my partner is a tattooist, and his drawings, paintings, tattoos are so damn good, that it made me feel to inferior to draw. :notworthy:

This is some of my partners works/tattoos. I sit and watch him draw, and it blows my mind. I'm like a 2 year old with a crayon compared to him.

Hahaha I am an avid reader too. I use the library mostly though. Right now the public library next to my place has a great selection. I enjoy reading authors from Central and Eastern Europe. Some of them write really well.

Lately I am purchasing books I already read and liked. This shift happened because I used to buy books that I wanted to read but were not available around, and some of them were disappointing. Because this library close by is so good I have a long reading list now, reading for a few years maybe, so I now buy the books I have read and liked a lot.

It may not be the same thing, but I really like to create stuff, especially with metal. Last year I bought a MIG-welder which opened up a lot of opportunities for creating practical stuff, it also helps with regards to repairing and keeping alive my Volvo from the 90s which I love.
And have you painted anything nice yet?
My first painting, which depicts a nature landscape seen from my current apartment, is done and I'm kinda alright with the result for being the very first painting. Now I'm looking into some better brushes. I'll try to get alright at nature painting, then it would be fun to be able to paint buildings etc.

Those works looks insanely good! :notworthy:
